Disadvantages: A really poor Mascara in every way
When it comes to Mascara I am use to Max Factors False Lash effect Mascara but unfortunately when I was unable to get hold of this Mascara when out shopping reccently I was forced to decide on another Mascara brand.
Now Ive tried many Mascaras over the years, both expensive and cheap so what ever one I purchased I knew that there was a 50/50 chance it would be suitable and provide the coverage that I wanted and im use to with Maxfactor or not so upon browsing through the cosmetic counters at Boots I was drawn to this new Falsies Mascara by Maybelline.
Now Usually when a new Mascara comes out on the Market Maybelline advertise their product in any form possible to get their new product out there but this time around there seems to have been a complete lack of advertising or promotion of this product and seeing it on the shelf in boots is the first time I had heard of or seen it.
Now I do not have particurlaly long lashes and being fair skinned i have fairly light lashes too so I was looking for a mascara that would match up to Max Factors False lash effect Mascara and give me a nice set of well defined lashes that gives added length and added volume, a mascara that would make my eyelashes more noticeable.
Seeing this New 'Falsies' Mascara which claims to deliver a false lash look I was won over because my previous mascara had been a false lash effect too, after all it had to at least do something to my eyelashes, didnt it?
Now I purchased this mascara in black Noir because if this mascara was going to work and give me those stunning lashes it was offering I wanted them to be noticeable.
Now you cannot really miss this product, It comes in a clear moulded plastic blister packet which it stuck to a cardboard backing, brightly coloured in a mixture of fuscia pink and Aqua green which matches the fuscia pink and Metalic aqua Mascara tube inside.
The mascara itself claims to have a new pro-keratin and fibre enriched formula and that this formula helps the mascara attach to your lashes, even the ones you didnt know you had to helps to make them look thicker, longer and to fill in every gap, that along side the New unique Spoon brush design application is made easier. Guaranteeing that false lash effect the new spoon shaped brush is designed to give corner to corner coverage, that it fans out the lashes to allow full coverage and lifts lashes right from the root delivering more voluminous, bold, fanned out lashes and the appearance of no gaps from any angle at all, that lashes are 3x more noticeable...that perfect false lash look.
instructions for using this mascara are:
For optimum results, hold brush with spoon side against the lashes and stroke as you normally apply mascara. Repeat application until you've achieved the desired look...
Pretty Simple but I found this new brush difficult to use, the new spoon shape design is suppose to help lift the lahes from the root to give you volume but i just found it awkward.
The brush applicator feels very lightweight and the stem of the brush is very flexible so I didnt know if I was applying enough pressure or not when applying the mascara to get that added lift. I also found the mascara brush itself quiete flimsy and because the mascara formula is pretty thick it looked clumpy on the brush.
So the results...Well this mascara almost certainly failed to live up to expectations, it truely has to be one of the worst mascaras that I have ever used, after application my lashes looked awful, the mascaras claims that its newly designed unique brush would lift lashes right from the base and create volume and give me a fuller set of lashes was certainly not the case, the curl I did get just disappeared Immediately leaving them flat, no volume what so ever. Even with 2 t 3 coats the mascara just started looking clumpy, Infact my eyelashes started to stick together leaving visible gaps, two things this mascara claimed it would not do.
I even tried the mascara after using my eyelash curlers hoping for better results but to no avail.
Now one thing this mascara did manage to do was lengthen my lashes but this was pointless, due to not getting any volume or lifting of the lashes as soon as I started to blink I ended up with a lot of mascara rubbing off on my lower lash line and upper cheek, Not a good look at all. Who wants to look like a panda two minutes after applying their make up..Not Me! I looked a mess and this is the reason this mascara promptly found its way into the bin.
On the upside because this Mascara is not waterproof it came off really quickly with a facial cleansing wipe :D even though the formula is pretty thick.
Retailing at £7.99 RRP but currently on introductory promotional offer at most Super Markets and Pharmacies for £5.99 but personally I wouldnt waste your money. This truly is an awful mascara that doesn't deliver at all.
Summary: A disappointing product from Maybelline
