Maybelline Falsies Mascara
Advantages: I can think of none
Disadvantages: Too many to mention, just everything really
Oh dear, I have done it again! Forked out good money for another rubbish product. I am a real sucker for advertising blurb and I had read loads of really good reports about Maybelline Falsies Mascara so I decided to try it out. It was a bit of an impulse buy, I have to admit.
I usually use Max Factor Mascara but lately I have been less than impressed with my usual mascara, finding it was beginnng to flake off in bits around my eyes by the end of the day. I was in Boots and there was a rather large advertising placard displaying a pile of Maybelline Falsie Mascara's and I was initially drawn, I think, by the bright pink tubes / bottles and the word 'falsies' emblazoned across the front.
The mascara cost me £7.99 and I must admit I was quite looking forward to wearing it. I used it the first time for work and was immediately unimpressed by the rather large and somewhat clumpy looking wand. It is large, bullky looking and curved. Maybelling state this is in order for the wand to reach each and every lash and coat your lashes with smooth and clump free mascara, giving you that falsie lash look.
The wand sort of slid out of the tube rather than plopped out, as I usually expect a decent mascar to do. There seemed to be no suction or vacuum and as a result of this, there were rather large gloopy looking clumps of mascara stuck to the wand. I dabbed it on a piece of tissue paper and proceeded to coat my lashes.
The colour I bought was 'noir' (Black) as my eyes are dark I thought I had better opt for the darkest one to give me the best results. The mascara didn't coat my lashes the way I was expecting or hoping it would. How best can I decsribe how it goes on? Well, begrudgingly, really. By this, I mean that it took a few attempts to even get it to look like I had applied any mascara at all. As I applied more, my lashes just sort of looked like they were lumpy and misshapen. The brush was far too large to be able to get into the corners of my eyes effectively and by the time I had finished I looked like I'd had my eye make up applied by a mad angry toddler let loose with it's mother's make up bag! Yes folks, I looked a fright.
I think this mascara has been hyped up to be something it most definitely is NOT. I don't even really like the gaudy looking pacakaging. It looks cheap and tacky, yet I could get around this if the actual product was something special. Sadly, it isn't.
Probably the only good thing to say about this mascara is that when I want to remove it, it does come off simply and easily with my normal eye make up remover. However, this comes as no surprise, as by the end of my working day the bottoms of both of my eyes were smudged and splattered with tiny flecks of black.
I would never in a million years voluntarily buy this masacara again. This is the second Maybelline mascara I have bought and this is the second time I have been disappointed with the brand.
Sorry to all of you Maybelline fans out there, but this product just doesn't do it for me and I cannot possibly recommend it. Very disappointed.
Summary: never will I buy this again
