Advantages: umm. it didnt explode when I opened it.
Disadvantages: It would have been just as useful if it had exploded when I opened it.
I must totally agree with the other reviewer of this prooduct this time - Maybelline have let us down with this one!
I bought this pressed powder on a day where I was having major skin issues and wanted something that would just give me a tiny bit of cover and make me feel better (that's what make up is all about anyway). I didn't want to spend a fortune on a whole bottle of foundation as I am in love with my MAC and don't want to change, and didn't want to waste money on a product Id never use. I'll just buy a finishing powder I thought - I'll wear that over my regular foundation when I want to look really snazzy. I went for this Maybelline product because it was a reasonably reliable brand, the colour appeared to be right for my skin, and it was affordable. What a mistake!
The first issue is that the product doesn't come with an applicator, so I had to buy an extra sponge for it. Then next problem is that there isn't enough space between the powder and the lid that sits over the top, so even with the thinnest sponge I could find, the top doesn't screw on properly. This means that I have to always wrap an elastic band around it when I want to carry it in my handbag, and half the time the band comes off and I get bits of pressed powder chips all through my bag. Annoying, you understand.
I could possibly forgive this if the product was great (although I still wouldnt buy it again - what's the use of having a powder that you can't take with you anywhere??), but it simply isn't. Even just using this at home is pointless. It gives me basically no extra coverage over my regular foundation, does absolutely nothing on it's own, and really provides almost no shine-control. I normally don't have an oily face anyway, but if I am wearing sunblock or something under my foundation there is a bit of sheen that I would sometimes like to cover up. Well the pressed powder doesn't seem to work. THe only thing it sticks to are the tiny hairs on my face, making them look like they need a wax and my skin looks just the same as before! Fail!
Basically, if you want a pressed powder, get something that comes with a proper compact, preferably a mirror and applicator, and better yet a product that actually works. If you want a chunk of rock hard pale gunk masquerading as a finishing powder then this is ideal for you!
Summary: Do not buy.
