Maybelline has such a great reputation. About 10 years ago it had a huge advertising campaign where the slogan 'maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline' became massive. Lots of people would recall the slogan as soon as they saw the logo. I am sure it did wonders for sales. I heard great positive feedback about the mascara too and new lots of people that raved about it. I never got round to trying it, until a month ago when I had a voucher for money off the product from Boots so it was worth trying, instead of my usual mascara.
Price and availability:
Maybelline mascara is very widley available. It is available from shops as Boots and superdrug, as well as supermarkets, such as Tesco, Sainsburys, and Asda. As well as many more places. I have seen prices range around £6.50-£8.
The mascara is in a bright pink plastic tube with simple writing describing the product. It is nothing innovative or extraordinary, but it doesn't necessarily have to be so. The brush of the mascara can be extracted following a few simple twists, it is easy to do up and secure again. I have never had a problem with it leaking. The mascara itself applies to your lashes nice and easily, and it has good staying power (easily a whole day) and is easy to remove with standard make up remover. No panda eyes here.
The problem I have with this product is that it doesn't really cute my lashes very thickly. It gives them very even and fine coverage, so it doesn't give my lashes the extra va va voom they need! I think part of the problem is with the actual liquid as the mascara, and part is with the design of the brush. The brushes bristles are not very close together, they are quite far apart and it means it doesn't separate your eyelashes very well, so you end up looking like you have fewer lashes as they are clumped together.
For me, this mascara does not lengthen, thicken, or separate my lashes enough to compete with the good mascaras out there, that are pretty much the same price. Sadly, I will not be purchasing this again, and feel rather let down after the high hopes the branding gave me.
I change my Mascara quite often. There isn't really 1 that I have found that I think is totally amazing and does such a brilliant job. I don't really wear much make up anway and it's only really Mascara and perhaps a bit Lip Gloss with the odd bit of Foundation now and again.
I remember reading about this brand may years ago and this was always featured in my teenage mgazines. This was regarded as great mascara and I think thesedays it is still ranked as a good Mascara.
Price wise this isn't too bad priced. I've currently got a tube of this in my bag and have been using this off and on for about 2 months. I picked this up in Asda and got it for £5.99. I'm sure this has a little bit money off it, but don't think it had that much off it
I think the original one of this that launched years ago just had a flat brush, but as the name suggests this has a curved brush, which is designed for to fit against your eyelashes more as it follows the curve of them and therefore you should get right into the roots of them (you know what I mean i'm sure.)
This gets right into the Lashes and coats them well. Even after just 1 application of this my Lashes seem to be coated fine and I don't feel the need to do a 2nd coat of this. This dries quick enough anyway so you can reapply if you want. The wand is easy enough to hold and apply.
So how does this make my Lashes look? My Lashes are quite average and to me they seem thin and certainly not long. This makes them look black, glossy and I think that they appear to look a little thicker. I think this could be down to them getting coated right at the root of these so it perhaps gives a bit of a different appearance
This is still a good mascara in my eyes, and if it is still getting sold after all these years then it must be doing something right
The packaging I bought was similiar to the present photo but with a lime green lid, so not much thought was put into the design but I suppose lime green & pink together does make it stand out among the rest. I personally am very lucky to have lengthy, full lashes. All I need is for them to curl up to show off their true length. This mascara does that. I wouldn't say amazingly well though, Its decent enough as a daytime mascara for people on a budget but for constant usage I wouldn't recommend it. My sister however has average eyelashes and wants lots of volume as possible and she doesn't like this product, only if you already have extremely long lashes will this mascara do. This mascara comes off pretty easily too so for those who are looking for waterproof look away now! This will smudge within seconds. The conditioning formula however I believe works. Whilst wearing the mascara my eyelashes feel very smooth to touch and feel fine once I've taken my makeup off. Another promise that they've kept up is no clumps, I have never experienced clumpy mascara with this product. One fault that many people may not like is that you cannot top up this mascara. Once its on its pretty set, even though its easy to take off if your someone who likes to go over your makeup throughout the day and put on a few layers it will start to clog.
This product has been a staple for many make up artists, and a stape for many non-make up artists, like myself. It has been the only mascara I have ever used, and with the results I have achieved, I can't imagine using another. There are many types of mascara's on the market today, and many have specified purposes: lengthening, volumnizing etc. However, I have experienced that Great Lash does it all. It gives my lashes length and volume, minus the clumps and hefty price tag. There is also quite a variety to choose from - waterproof/non waterproof, curved brush/straight brush and colors (brownish black, black etc). I ended up choosing non waterproof (so its easier to wash off), straight brush and color in brownish black. Applying is easy, just like any other mascara. You apply as many coats as you want, but with Great Lash, you don't need too many to see results. I usually apply one or two. Once I applied and stepped back from the mirror to see the results, I could see that my eyes looked bigger, darker and more defined and my lashes were longer, fuller and with more volume. It gave my eyes that 'wow' effect. Exactly what I wanted - and no clumps! The durability of this product is excellent, which shows that it is high quality. It lasts all day and night, without having to reapply. However, as I chose the non-waterproof formula, I have to be careful to keep the eye area dry. It is water resistant to a certain extent, though if you are worried about getting those panda eyes, I suggest you go for the waterproof formula. As I previously mentioned, you can either get this product with a curved brush, or a non-curved brush. I personally, prefer the non-curved brush as I honestly do not see the difference. However, I know some people think otherwise. The good thing is that whether you choose the curved brush or not, you will most likely be satisfied with the results. The other good thing about th
is mascara is that its cheap. If you don't like it, you can toss it so you may as well give it a go. The results you get from Great Lash could mirror what you would get from Chanel or Lancome. And as I always say, nobody is going to know whether you are wearing Maybelline or Chanel. A lot of mascara's give you only some of what you want. Great Lash gives you everything. Try it.
This mascara comes in a fancy pink tune with a bright green lid. The applicator wand is relatively short compsared to most mascara enabling you to hold it steady. Als o the brush at the tip is very short to help get in to the corners of your eye. I unfotunately have short thin lashes so I need my eyelash curler to give them length. This mascara brings out my eyes lengthing my lashes and adding a slight thickness, which can be built up. If you want your lashes to look thicker then add a three-four coats, but no more as when it drys it will be flakey. I only need to use one coat and it gives me sexy, flirty lashes in 2 seconds, instead of me pumping away like other brands I've used. This mascara is what I would use as my everyday mascara. It gives me natural looking lashes and a touch of glamour. You can as I say build up the lashes making them thicker, but personally I would only want that look for night, and then I would use another mascara for that look. It does last the day, and really gives me a wide-eyed look without looking OTT. I use the 'very black' shade and my lashes look very sexy and dark. This mascara does run if you get your lashes wet, so get the waterproof version. Occasionally in extreme heat it can run a little but only slightly so it looks fine. I find the waterproof version of this mascara slightly drying so I prefer to only use that in the summer months whenI go on my holidays. I have heard some negsaative coments aboutt his mascara not giving enough oopphh to lashes, well it is just called Great Lash it says nothing about giving you the false lash efect that some people like. This is a simple everyday mascara, toenhance lashes thats all. It certainly does that. It is reasonable priced at £5.49 and loooks the business in any makeup bag. Its no wonder this mascara is a favourite among make-up artistes/supermodels winning it countless beauty awards.....

If have a good look at some of the better opinions you will see what people give good ratings for. If you read and rate other people's opinions they may read and rate yours thats what it is all about! by Gwenick on 01.02.2002 at 23:01 Here's a tip. Spend more time on each opinion. Only post one a day (at most) and read and rate other people opinions. You'll get more read (and therefore more money) that way. As it is you are doing what is known as 'churning' - and people won't read you at all! Gwen by MALU on 01.02.2002 at 23:42 That's right! One look at the number of your ops and I stay away. Malu Comments on the opinion by KingHerrod on 02.02.2002 at 10:58 Hi and welcome to the site, I see you submitted 20 reviews on your first day. Take it from me that will not make you any money and most of the reviews probably will not help consumers a great deal either. My best advice to you is to have a peek at the community page, at the premier reviews and the advice to new members. Have a read around the site and have fun, but by posting a large number of reviews straight away, you may get yourself a bad name. I noticed nobody had rated this review yet. You are knocking all the serious members out of the latest list and ruining the enjoyment for others. Mark Thanks, you are all so kind. Goodbye.
When I first saw this mascara, sitting on the shelf in Boots, I must admit that I was not overly impressed. It was in a bright pink container, with a lime green lid - making it look a little cheap and tacky. However, I needed mascara urgently, but had little money, so went ahead and bought it anyway, as my sister had recommend the maybelline range to me. It was only four pounds, and I decided that I could always keep it hidden in a bedroom drawer! However, appearances were deceptive, and I was actually quite impressed with this mascara. As I am a contact lens wearer and have sensitive eyes, I have to take a fair bit of care with the mascara I buy. This one was brilliant, as it didn't cause me any problems at all. With some mascaras, I have found that the fibres actually get under the lenses and feel really gritty, but this one, as it claimed on the packet, was definitely irritation free, and so I would recommend it for sensitive eyes. This is always my main consideration when buying a mascara, as there’s no point getting one which lengthens, curls etc if it’s going to be uncomfortable to wear. I’ve actually jabbed myself in the eye with it, (I’m really clumsy!) and luckily it rinsed straight off the lens. I was, however, also impressed with the actual quality of the mascara, as it really did define my lashes well, making them look much thicker and longer. It did give them a slight curl too, although for the full curl effect an eyelash curler is still required. It doesn’t really clog up either, even if you put on a few coats, which is another plus point! But, unlike some mascaras, I don't think that it has a conditioning effect, which means that continued use of it could possibly make your eyelashes a bit brittle. However, I tend to alternate this mascara with other brands - depending on what sort of look I am going for - day or night, full or natural, black or brown etc etc. This one̵
7;s usually more of an evening one, since it gives a fuller, black, look – in the day I might just stick to dark brown. Because this mascara was so cheap I can afford to do this! It’s also important to make sure you throw out your mascara after 3 months - otherwise bacteria will breed - which could then lead to nasty eye infections. Because this mascara is so cheap, I’m not tempted to keep it any longer than necessary, so it’s good for the health of my eyes too. It’s not waterproof – but to be honest, I’m not a great fan of waterproof mascara, as I find that some of the lotions needed to remove it irritate my eyes. This mascara suits me, since it doesn’t smudge, yet at the end of the day, cleans off easily. I don’t really see the need for waterproof mascara most of the time anyway, it’s not exactly as if I’m going to be showering or swimming whilst wearing it, the only time it would come in useful is when watching a sad film!! Overall then, a brand that I’d recommend, particularly for contacts lens wearers. At only four pounds, you can’t go wrong!
I have tried many products to get my lashes to look longer, thicker and blacker and have finally found a product that works for me. The product is made by Maybellene and well worth the money. Forget waterproof mascara's that you are forever picking off with your nails and stick to the good old fashioned stuff. When applying mascara (and don't laugh) I spread the brush crossways and then use the brush to separate and watch those lashes thicken and lengthen. Do the same to bottom lashes and then use a tissue to dry the underside of bottom lashes. Maybellene has an array of other products and is well priced. Around £4 for mascara and £3 for their express nail polish, which is too an excellent product, I don't think you could beat this for price and quality.
I first read about this product years ago and remember reading what an excellent mascara it was and how all the supermodels swore by it to give them long, luscious lashes and I wished that it was available here and not just in the U.S. Well it finally arrived over here in Superdrug and I rushed out to buy one, so confident that I would love it I bought one in black and one in brown. On first impressions I didn't think much to the tacky sugar pink tube but after trying it I thought even less of it. My lashes did not look luscious, they looked thick and gloopy and it smudged so badly that I ended up with panda eyes. I felt so let down by this product and binned them both. One positive thing I suppose was that it was easy to remove.
The samrt, exclusive conditioning formula lets you build full healthy-looking lashes without any clumps or globs /
