Not so great lash mascara. (Maybelline Great Lash Mascara)

Disadvantages: clumpy, thick.

All my friends started buying this recently, they were raving about how good it was so i decided to give it a try.

Packaging.

The mascara comes in simple plastic packaging. The bottle itself has a pink bottom and green top to which the wand is attached. I personally dont like the bottle although many of my friends do. I think the colours make it look cheaper than it actually is and the square bottom and rounded top make the product look clumsy with no sleekness at all. I really think it looks as though it was designed to give to children as a 'my first mascara'.

The product.

When you take out the wand it looks like any other wand exept it was clotted with thick mascara, i had to scrape it a couple of times against the bottle to get a smaller amount on the brush.

First application.

Despite the fact it looked quite thick when i brushed on the first application i felt it went on ok however straight away my lashes stuck together looking as though i only had 5 thick lashes. I had to use a lash comb to try and separate them.

Second application.

The brush struggled to get through my lashes this time and as it did it stuck them back together and left unsightly clumps on the longer lashes. I looked like i had tried to apply tar to my eye lashes.
Once again i had to comb them and try an remove the clumps.

The look

After combing and removing the clumps the look was ok. My lashes were very dark and did look thicker and slightly longer however this was only achieved through tampering with other tools. It is not a mascara i could stick in my bag for a quick lick later on. I'd need to take my lash comb, tissue's and eye lash curlers aswell.

Wear

Yes i must admit that it did last all night but it did leave shadows and very slight smuges under my eyes at the very end of the night. I will say that on these occations it has done this i've been in a nightclub or in a warm enviroment which i've most probably been hot and a bit sweaty and/or very drunk. After a few of these nights i started only using this mascara for day time use and bought myself a new mascara for going out.

Overall

After i finished the bottle i never bought another one, it was too much hassle declumping and combing everytime i put it on.

I bought mine from a local makeup and body shop for £2.99 but i have seen them in Boot and Superdrug. So its not that expensive but i'd still shell out more for a better mascara.

Tip - never pump the wand in and out of the mascara bottle, it forces more air into the bottle and can cause it to dry out quicker.

Summary: Not a great lash after all.
