Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Advantages: No clumping

Disadvantages: no "wow" factor

In my almost constant quest for that elusive perfect mascara, I came across yet another Maybelline mascara, agiain reduced in my local chemist from £4.74 to £2.40. This, I know, is good value for Maybelline mascaras so it was indeed worth a go.

Apparantly, this "pink and green legend" is America's number one best seller. Great, I will be applying a legend to my eyelashes!

**The Promise**

• Intense colour
• Clean separate finish, and perfectly defined lashes
• No clumps
• Lash building brush makes lashes fuller

**How does it DO that?**

The mascara has a precise lash building brush, so from the moment you start to apply it, there will be intense colour and your lashes will transform miraculously from normal to dramatic.

This I must see …

**What does it look like?**

Well, I had already established that it was a pink and green legend.

The main part of the packaging is pink and the screw off top is a sort of lime green. There is no way you would be rummaging about your bag unable to find this little item.

Open it up and the mascara wand looks like any other mascara wand; somehow, since it is a legend and a number one bestseller, I was expecting something a bit special.

**Other bits of information**

The mascara is opthamologically tested and suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive, so I think it's probably ok for most people.

For people with sensitivity to any ingredients regularly found in mascaras, I would suggest you check out the ingredients.

**So, does it work?**

As I said, the brush looks no different to the average and "normal" mascara brush- same size, same shape.

I applied the mascara using my common sense- I had to know how to apply it because there are no instructions!

As with a few of the Maybelline mascaras I have tried, it is easy to apply and quite dry. This is, in my opinion, a good thing, because I often find that there is a lot of liquid which sometimes gives the illusion of great coverage simply because it feels as though there is a lot of liquid going on to the lashes.
I bought the blackest black but it is available in very black, brown and denim blue; it would be interesting to test for any difference between blackest black and very black because I would imagine that anyone wanting black eyelashes would automatically buy blackest black.

When I applied the mascara it did seem to almost instantly separate my eyelashes and there was no clumping at all. The colour is indeed blackest black, and although I have black eyelashes they did seem to look blacker.

Is it waterproof? I don't know. There is nothing on the packaging to make me believe that it is and when I removed the mascara, it came off very easily with no frantic scrubbing required so something tells me that this would be no good for anyone on holiday and in and out of the sea. However, it does have good staying power and managed to stay on my eyelashes all day without trying to wander down to my cheeks as a few mascara colours have done.

So far, so good, great coverage, long lasting and easy to apply and remove. However, either I am just looking for something which doesn't exist or am doing something wrong, but again, this is great for an every day mascara but for night time I would love something a bit more dramatic. Again, as with other mascaras, I have to report that it lacks the "wow|" factor, and whilst it makes my lashes very black, it doesn't give that false lash effect I want (without the falsh lashes)

I am going to recommend it based on the fact that it is a good mascara, lasts well and gives great coverage, and I would buy it again for day wear

So, if anyone has found a great mascara which really does the night time job, please let me know.

Thanks for reading
