At £4.88 in Boots, this is definitely one of the cheaper mascaras by a well-respected brand. I expect a lot from Maybelline, but I thought this might be lower quality than many of its products due to the lower price. While it can't really compete with Maybelline's Define-A-Lash - my perennial favourite - it is outstanding as a cheaper alternative.

This mascara has a nice, sensibly-proportioned brush that emerges from the tube coated with a sensible amount of mascara, which means that there are no clumps, and the product goes on smoothly and evenly. While the effect is not, for me, dramatic enough for a night out, it provides reliable colour and definition for everyday wear. It lasts all day and doesn't smudge or flake off. It has never caused any eye irritation for me, and is easy to remove when desired. To use a cliché, this mascara is a beauty stalwart. While it won't astonish you with its results, it certainly won't disappoint, particularly not at the bargain price.

Summary: You won't find a better mascara for everyday wear at this price.
