What great lashes? (Maybelline Great Lash Mascara)

I bought this mascara from Boots after it was recommended by a friend. The cute packaging and reasonable price encouraged me to try this mascara on my seemingly eternal quest to find one that works.

At first, this mascara was great - when it was new, there was plenty mascara to cover the brush, and hence the eyelashes were well coated. However, after having the mascara for only a few days, I found it difficult to get enough mascara onto the brush and has to really sweep the insides of the tube to cover the brush - it was as though the mascara had dried up and it was more difficult to apply.

This mascara does not tend to leave clumps on the eyelashes which is a definite plus as most of the mascaras thay I have used in the past do. However, if more than two coats are applied to the lashes, there do tend to be clumps left which is evidently not desirable.

The brush of this mascara is very light and doesn't tend to separate the lashes well, but does add length and volume. An eyebrow comb swept through the lashes straight after application can resolve the problem of lack of definition.

Overall, I was displeased with this mascara. Although it is reasonably priced and looks cute in your handbag, it does not give the 'great lashes' it so claims to - a lack of separation of lashes along with not enough mascara on the brush doesn't make for a good product. Opt for slightly more expensive alternatives.
