i recently bought this waterproof mascara in brown/black shade. It cost me £4.49. I wanted to try this mascara after reading quite a few good reviews in various magazines. Apparently it is very popular with super models etc.

I think the packaging is quite simple, but effective. The main body of it is a nice girly pink colour and the wand part is a very plain black. Very simple, but I think it looks good. There isn't much information on the package itself. It just tells you what it is - Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara, and that it contains 12.5ml.

As for the product itself. The wand is about average sized for a mascara wand, I have seen a few longer ones, but personally i don't like them too long. The brush part of the wand looks pretty average as well but I do notice that everytime I take it out, it's totally clump-free. i don't know how they achieve this, but I think it's great.

The colour i bought - brown/black, was very impressive. Most mascaras I've bought this shade look just the same as black to me, but this one is definately more subtle.

I found this very easy to apply, but I needed 2 coats, as one coat didn't quite give the effect i wanted. It din't clump or smudge when I applied it and actually looked quite natural.

As to how it performed throught the day - to my amazement it didn't flake! I very often find that waterproof mascara goes really hard and you end up wearing loads of little flakes on your cheeks, well not this one, it stayed right where it was supposed to. And the ultimate test - was it really waterproof? I take my toddler swimming 3 afternoons a week. I say swimming, I rarely get wet above the neck as I hate water! but I persevere for his sake. I do sometimes get a bit splashed and wet though, and most waterproof mascaras don't stand up too well to this and I end up with the old 'panda eyes' syndrome. This didn't budge at all...which i tho
ught was great...

Until bedtime when I tried to take it off! I used my usal tried and very trusted make up remover to no avail whatsoever. I gave my eyes a good scrub with it, until they were quite sore actually and all I got for that was a tiny trace of it on my cotton wool.

So, i think basically, this is a great mascara at a very reasonable price. It is certainly waterproof! but don't wear it unless you want to spend the night with it.
