I was looking through Boots (I seem to start every review with this line!), searching for a reasonably-priced long-lasting eyeliner, and I spotted this eyeliner. It seemed PERFECT from the writing on the pencil. It promised to be waterproof, and I tested it on the back of my hand and rubbed vigorously. It didn't budge! I chose Cinnabar which is a dark brown, and handed over my £3.99, which is more than what I'd usually pay for an eyeliner - I usually use 17 Perfect Definition eyeliner which is £2.50, but nonetheless, it looked a lot more promising!

It doesn't say that the pencil is like in a lipstick format - you have to twist the top of the pencil to get the stuff out! I broke off the end by accident and wasted quite a lot of it, but I'm just a clumsy person! And also, the pencil is long and bulky, so a few points taken off for that!

I applied it underneath my bottom eyelashes and on the crease of my lid.The eyeliner glided on beautifully. It didn't drag the skin and wasn't so creamy that it smudged everywhere. Very good texture and gave a precise finish, which you can blend if you want for a smoky look, or leave it as it is for a defined bright-eyed look. It looked good and looked very natural. I've fallen into the trap of buying harsh black eyeliners because I have very dark eyes and eyelashes anyway, but brown looks more natural and less 'made-up', even if your eyelashes are black.

I checked myself with my compact a few hours later when I had a few spare minutes. It had smudged slightly under my eyes but looked as though I had gone for a smoky look which is fine, but I want a more natural, less dramatic look for the daytime! The liner at the top was as good as it was when I first applied it. It took a few wrinkle-inducing rubs with my finger to get rid of the smudges. The rest of the liner on the bottom lashes stayed put for the rest of the day, however.

My verdict? If you're looking for
an inexpensive everyday eyeliner then buy Maybelline Great Wear Waterproof Eyeliner. But I'm afraid I'm going to have to continue my search for the perfect eyeliner...
