One product that has always been in my make up bag is a concealer. However, now I've had a child the sleepless nights have of course increased my usage of concealer! I hate looking in the mirror and seeing the dark circles under my eyes and try to cover them up as much as possible. I've never been loyal to a brand of concealer and have tried a variety but my newest purchase was from Maybelline and I have since found out that it is now a discontinued product!
The product in question is called Instant Age Rewind Concealer by Maybelline. I didn't choose it for any particular reason other than it was on offer and I thought I'd give it a go especially as it wasn't going to break the bank. I've recently been pleasantly surprised by a few Maybelline products so I was hoping this was going to be a good concealer.
*~* What is it? *~*
The liquid concealer has been formulated to firm and brighten the appearance of the skin of the eye area. To help its anti-ageing stance it contains caffeine extract which helps to reduce puffiness and helps to firm the skin. It also contained silk fibres which help smooth and lift those fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area. Maybelline also use radiance pearls to help remove dark circles.

The concealer comes in a small, slim tube which looks exactly the same as a lip gloss, liquid eye shadow etc. It has a screw on top and a very narrow opening. The design is simple and the tube is clear so you can see what shade you have purchased. On the front is the logo and product name in silver to match the screw on top. On the back there is all the usual information about the product.

~ Consistency ~
When I first bought the concealer I was expecting quite a thick consistency but I was wrong! The concealer has a very thin consistency but it is easy to rub in a little does go quite a long way. Because it is so thin you do have to be careful when you squeeze the tube as you do tend to get quite a lot which is just wasted.
~ Application ~
It is incredibly easy to use. I tend to use the tip of my finger but you can always use a cosmetics sponge. You just need to apply to the area around your eye and blend in gently. I use mine after applying foundation. I find that by using the tip of my finger it is easier to apply around the corners of my eye. It doesn't take long to blend, just make sure you don't use too much as it doesn't give an even coverage.

Well Maybelline calm that this concealer will last up to 8 hours. And to an extent I agree with that it lasts a long time before needing to reapply so I am quite happy with how long it lasts. Its coverage is great and it does look freshly applied for quite a while. So for me currently I only use it when I am going out and for the few hours I am actually out it really does the job.
It doesn't mess up my foundation which is great as some concealers I have used have affected my foundation by causing it to cake. Sometimes my face powder has turned my foundation a different shade than what it was originally but this concealer seems to be resilient to everything! It doesn't change colour, it doesn't cake and best of all it blends nicely on the skin without giving a white eyed panda look!
As long as you use this gently and use a limited amount at a time then this concealer really is effective and it lasts a decent amount of time without the need to re-apply it. But if you should need to re-apply then it comes in small sized packaging which is easy to carry around.
I've been using the concealer for a few months now and even though I don't have any major wrinkles or lines I do have a few starting to appear and I can't say that they have disappeared but the skin around my eyes definitely seems a bit brighter and a bit tighter which can only be a good thing! I doubt this would work on major lines or wrinkles but it still manages to cover up dark circles which ultimately is what I wanted.

Now it has been discontinued it is hard to get hold of. However, there are still cosmetics websites which still sell it. It comes in three shades; light, medium and dark (not a lot of choice). Expect to pay from around £2.05 right up to £6.99 for a 5ml tube.

An impressive concealer which really does the job in keeping those dark circles hidden! It has made my skin around my eyes look a little healthier and my dark circles don't seem as dark. My only gripe about this is the consistency as in my opinion I would like it a bit darker but I have learnt not to squeeze the bottle so hard and to be gentle! Definitely a recommendation if you can get hold of it!
