      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A lengthening mascara but not enough life in it.

I bought this mascara ages ago as a bit of an impulse when cosmetic shopping. I like to test out as many different mascaras as I can and pretty much always buy anything new on the market. I tend to go for high street brands as I find they offer value for money and Maybelline is one of my favourites for mascara.

This particular mascara comes in a black tube that tapers from top to bottom and has a small red line across the bottom (like the heel of a shoe). Black tubes is fairly uncharacteristic of Maybelline mascaras in recent years, which tend to be far brighter designs. As a result this mascara does fail to both impress and stand out in my draw of mascaras. However, if it can do the job I am not as bothered about design and look.

The brush on this mascara is a bristle brush in red. The red is pretty much a pointless embellishment because as soon as it is coated in mascara you cease to see it. The brush ever so slightly narrows from one end to the other and has even spaced bristles which are a good quality. The brush is designed to give to stiletto 'lashes' - i.e length. I found this mascara not great for volume but on length it really did impress me. My lashes were noticeably longer after use and this was something you could build up on with more coats of the mascara.

I tend to use another mascara I like and then add this one over the top to give that length which I love. The mascara fluid isn't too thick but is quite wet so it takes a little bit longer than others to dry. Because of the lightweight quality though it doesn't tend to clog the brush or cause lumps which is nice. Once on the mascara looks smooth and doesn't tend to flake.

My only real issue is that after only 2 months this mascara had pretty much entirely dissipated and what was left had become dry. The tube is rather narrow and though the coverage of the brush was good it was evident there wasn't lashing of fluid inside the tube. The mascara cost me £6.00 which is fairly good for a high street mascara that really adds great length to my lashes. I just wish it would last a little longer, as the majority of my others have a shelf life of 4 months +.

Overall, a nice lengthening mascara but not enough longevity.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A mascara that is worth its price if you want longer looking lashes

      I love trying new mascaras, and I am often guilty of buying more than I can use at one time. I have resolved to finish all the tubes I have already before I buy any more. When I do come to purchase another though I know which I will buy - Maybelline's Lash Stiletto Voluptous {whatever voluptous means!}

WHAT THE PRODUCT CLAIMS TO DO

Maybelline says that this mascara will not only make your lashes appear up to 70% longer, but that it will also increase their volume, for a "dramatic" effect. Maybelline says that they use a rich cream formula, and a special double action brush. The mascara is available in regular and waterproof versions, and in brown and black. I have both colours but I haven't tried the waterproof one.

      FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The mascara tube is mounted on a cardboard and plastic packet, which seems a bit unnecessary. No doubt it is to help prevent anyone opeing the tube in the shop. The tube is square shaped, which makes it slightly less comfortable for me to hold than a traditional round tube, but this is a small quibble. The lid is easy to open and the attached brush feels sturdy. When I first saw the wand I thought it look large and bristly - and slightly bent. It is supposed to be this shape though! Once pulled from the tube, I was pleased to see that only a moderate amount of mascara was on the wand, as it is a pet hate of mine when you have to wipe a brush too often before applying.

      APPLICATION

When I first used the mascara wand, I found it took some time to get used to. This is because I found the fat, long brush difficult to manage near the inner corners of my eyes, as it was hard not to get some on the surrounding skin. This was also due to the humped shape of the brush. Now I am more used to it, I do find I make fewer mistakes in this way though. It does an excellent job of seperating the lashes. One sweep outwards leaves all of my lashes evenly coated without clumping. If I want a more dramatic look I will apply a second coat, without waiting for the first to dry, as is recommended by Maybelline. I have sometimes experienced clumping on this second coat, but never on the first. This is one reason I prefer to use just one application.

      RESULTS

I am always impressed by the difference just one coating makes to the colour and length of my lashes. I would expect to achieve the same effect only after several coats of other mascaras. This means the mascara is good value, even if it isn't the cheapest available to buy. I am very happy with the pigmentation, and I do feel that my lashes look obviously longer, even if I would not say the increase is 70%. I prefer natural looking lashes for most occasions, and I think a 70% increase in length would look far from natural!. The volumizing effect is less noticeable to me. My lashes do look thicker, but not much. If I did not know from the products own description that this was supposed to create extra volume, I wouldn't have guessed from using it. Overall though, my eyes look much more open and attractive than usual.

I find that it last well all day without smudging or flaking. I like to take my time when applying mascara so I appreciate not having to re-apply it at lunchtime. I wondered at first whether it's staying power would make it hard to remove when I actually needed to, but it is fine. A standard eye make up removal wipe or lotion deals with it easily. As I use a non waterproof version, it is no surprise that it doesn't stand up to a weepy film, but it isn't the worst for running and streaking that I have used. And at least it is easy to clean up afterwards! My eyes are not sensitive, so I can't advise whether it would be suitable if yours are, except to say that I have never experienced any irritation while using Lash Stiletto.

      PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Maybelline cosmetics are widely available, although since Maybelline have bought out newer mascaras, I have to go to larger Boots branches to find this particular one. It is also available in Superdrug, and in various places online. I pay £8.19 in Boots, but I bought my brown Lash Stiletto in Poundworld for £7.19 less! I have not seen it there recently sadly, but it is always worth keeping an eye on their cosmetics area.

      WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?

Yes! I think it is a good quality mascara, and one that has had the most immediate impact on my eyes. I love the lengthening effect, but I don't think it does much to increase the appearance of volume. If you want a mascara that will volumize, this is perhaps not the best choice for you. Although I found the odd shaped brush took some getting used to, it does a great job at seperating the lash and coating every one. This makes it easier and quicker to use in the end. I think it is well worth £8, as you don't need much to create a good look.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A good lengthening mascara, but not quite thickening enough!

The make-up industry is facing scrutiny after false advertising and airbrushing in order to enhance the effects of their products. Mascara has been one of the products most heavily involved in these claims; so are there actually mascaras out there that can deliver on their claims?

        *Overview
As with all make-up products, mascara is designed to enhance the features which you already possess. Therefore if you don't have long eyelashes I am afraid that you will have to accept that without the use of extensions or falsies you will never have the long, thick (and artificial) eyelashes that you see predominantly see littered throughout magazines and television adverts, however with a good mascara which suits your lashes you will be able to enhance your eyelashes length and volume; resulting in more aesthetically appealing eyes. Maybelline claim that their Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Mascara "does for lashes what stilettos do for legs. Your lashes will have the most luscious length that they will ever wear. The mascara lengthens and plumps with every stroke giving dramatic length with impact volume". They also state that their mascara is suitable for sensitive eyes or those who wear contact lenses.

        *About Maybelline
Maybelline was created by the chemist T.L. Williams in 1915. His sister used to apply Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes as a make shift mascara. He altered this method and in his laboratory managed to produce a product that would be sold locally and named Lash-Brow-Ine. Although the profuct was successful, the uninspired and awkward name meant that it prevented it from having its potential success. Williams' sister was called Maybel so he decided to change the name to Maybelline (incorporating the original use of Vaseline). 1917 saw the company produce their Maybelline Cake Mascara, "the first modern eye cosmetic for everyday use".
In 1991, Maybelline coined their world famous slogan - "Maybe She's Born With It. Maybe It's Maybelline" and this added greatly to their success, along with heavy celebrity endorsement. From 1996, the Maybelline company was owned (as with many cosmetics producers) by L'Oreal which has seen it go from strength to strength in the make-up industry. As with most make-up manufacturers Maybelline promote a great website (www.maybelline.co.uk) where they give you make-up tips, full product descriptions and also application videos.

        *What attracted me?
I love my eyelashes and my make-up product that I can't live without is mascara. I often use up to 5 different mascaras in one application in order to benefit front each of their qualities; building/lengthening/curling/thickening etc. For this reason I am always keeping my eyes peeled for a new mascara as I often find that they will be on offer when they are first introduced. Lash Stiletto was no different and when it first launched I benefited from £2 off. There was also a sleek and sexy campaign which boasted long lashes and a mascara look that compared to stiletto heels - what more could a girl want?!

        *Price/Availability
Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Mascara is slightly pricier than regular mascaras available on the high-street but it does still fall into the mid-range pricing category. From Boots the mascara will cost you £8.19 for 27.8g. Luckily the mascara is also available from Supermarkets so you are able to pick one up along with your weekly shop. Tesco and Waitrose both charge £8.16 each for the mascara while Asda undercut this slightly at £8.12. You can also purchase the product online from www.feelunique.com for £6.95 with free delivery.

        *Design
        ** Bottle
The outer packaging of the mascara is a deep red which is rather eye catching and part of what appealed to me. I believe that the brownish black version comes in a black tube however other than the colour difference the design is largely the same. The bottle is a rectangular shape and is rather thin - meaning that it slots into a make-up bag in a well organised fashion.

        ** Brush
The brush is one of the key features of this product as it is in an S like shape. This sets it aside from other products and is one of the reasons that I was attracted to the product as it was subject to much promotion. The S shape means that one side of the brush pushes the lashes upwards while the other side scoops them upwards - meaning sky-high volume. The brush can sometimes look as though the mascara is slightly clumpy but I think that this is due to the fact that the strands of the brush as so close together and these clumps are not reflected on your lashes. I find that the brush does dispense a good amount of the mascara and you do not pull it out to find copious amounts on the brush meaning that your lashes become heavy through over application.

        *Colour
The mascara is available in two shades. I personally use the black one as I have dark hair and brown mascara doesn't frame my eyes enough; however the brown is perfect for those with lighter hair or who prefer a more natural look. The two available shades are:

        ~ Very Black
        ~ Brownish Black

I find that although the mascara claims to be "very black" it is not largely different from the other black mascaras that I own. I am guessing this is more of a marketing ploy to set this product aside from all the other black mascaras. The two shades are also available in a waterproof version which I have yet to try.

        *Use
I personally find that it is best to apply the mascara in upwards motion - yet also vibrating the wand from side to side while you do so in order to spread out the lashes and coat them efficiently. This helps to prevent any clumping and means that you cover even the smaller lashes which are often missed. The thing that I like about this mascara is that because it is rectangular tube this helps to make it easier to use. I have found that with rounded brushes it is often harder to twirl the brush as you are using it. Because the bottle is square this means that you can rotate it with ease and keep track of how much you are twisting the wand round. I usually coat my lashes a couple of times in order to build my look, but it should be noted that you always coat lashes whilst the mascara is still wet to avoid clumping. As I don't always find that I get a particularly full look from this mascara I will follow it with at least one more, namely Masterpiece by Maxfactor. However I would contextualise this by saying that as I am rather fussy, I have never been able to find a mascara that I can use on it own - and trust me I have used a lot of the mascaras which are on the market!

        *Effect
The results from this product are very noticeable. With just one simple, quick application my lashes are considerably lengthened and defined as well are being somewhat thicker. I do find that this mascara has to be applied carefully as it does have the potential to turn your lashes "spider-like". My lashes do remain the same way from application, all day, until I remove my make-up at night - meaning that they need no reapplication (you are advised not to reapply mascara once the initial coat is dried anyway). I do sometimes find that you will get better, more naturally fuller looking lashes, if you mix and match the product with other mascaras.

        *Removal
The good thing about this mascara is that it is not overly difficult to apply - I simply use a non-make-up removing make-up wipe and find that with a slight scrub I have removed the majority of the mascara. This should be expected as the mascara is not waterproof which I usually find is the reason that you will struggle to remove a mascara. I tend to wash my face afterwards as you will often find that though the face wipe is not removing anymore mascara some hot soapy water will cause some more to budge.

        *Conclusion
I find that this is one of the best mascaras that I have tried. There are a lot of mascaras on the market making all different claims and this is the best one for giving yourself lengthened lashes. Though it may not be the most volumising mascara around it is often difficult to find a mascara which lengthens and thickens without using more than one mascara. Maybelline's Lash Stilleto Mascara doesn't cause your lashes to clump and it gives you framed eyes which will last all day. The product claims that you will have long lashes which won't be skinny. But unfortunately I don't find that this is entirely true - instead I find that I have extra long lashes with a little volume. I guess we can't ask for everything!

        Love Colleen

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Okay for a more natural look, but not as amazing as promised.

As many women do, I am always looking for a mascara which will make my lashes look long and thick,so when seeing Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara on special offer in Superdrug, I thought I would give it a try, after all who wouldnt be wooed by the promise of "Ultimate length, Does for lashes what stilettos do for legs,70% longer"?

The packaging is very sleek and stylish with a very simple black and red design on the mascara tube. The shape is very similar to that of a stiletto heel. The brush is traditional in that it has conventional bristles, but these are positioned in a spiral shaped to give lashes a more fanned out look and ensuring that every lash is coated and defined with one swipe of the mascara wand.It would be great for a more natural look as when trying to build up a more dramatic look, it clumps extremely easily, also after a few uses, the mascara wand itself was getting quite clumped and dry, which isnt particularly great.

It dosent smudge as some other Maybelline mascaras I have tried do but is prone to flaking throughout the course of the day(obviously not the desired effect that many women want). Personally, I think that this mascara dries to a grey shade rather than the 100% black that it promises and looks quite shiny after dried which is something I detested. It indeed maskes lashes look longer, but there is a very thin line between 'longer' and 'spidery' lashes, so apply sparingly, but once a technique has been adopted that suits you best, the results are amazing. As an avid user of white fibre lash builder mascaras(which add volume and length to your lashes before applying the mascara itself) I was dissapointed that Lash Stiletto didn't work too well with it, and didnt fully cover the white on my lashes, so I was left with looking like I had some weird eye disease. I never normally have this problem, even with really cheap mascaras.

Even though this mascara is not the newest in the Maybelline range, it is still priced up at about £6 in some stores, but can be found new and unopened online for about £3. I wouldn't purchase this product again as I feel that it wouldn't get a lot of use, I prefer a more dramatic look which unfortunatly, Lash Stiletto does not fulfill.

good mascara - worth of trying

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara- What producer says: 'Ultimate length mascara'.
Package: black, plastic - in shape of stiletto with red stripe on the bottom.
Wand medium length, cone shape with longer bristle at beginning of the wand and short at the end.
I have two of them, one is in black and one is in brown. My eyelashes are straight, mid length, dark ash brown.
When I first opened them, they seem to me very watery and it took me a while to master application and don't have ton of product on the lid. My friend had advised me to live package open for the night to let some water evaporate and it helped a lot.
I always applied it from bottom of my lashes up to the top in zigzag motions and its make my lashes really define and long, I usually apply two coats and I am ready to go. It is nicely separating lashes adding length and bit of volume and beautifully frame my eyes. Mascara is not clumping, doesn't smudges and lasts whole day with minimal fall(in case of brown).
I use it for more than five months and is my staple everyday mascara.
Will I buy it again - yes I will and in fact I bought second tube in brown.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Volumising mascara for great lashes

          ***MASCARA IN GENERAL***
There are so many different types of mascara out there and since Maybelline have dis-continued my favourite mascara (Lash Stylist), I've spent ages trying to find mascara as good as my last one which will separate my lashes and make them look bold. I looked at lots of different brands and tried to look for mascara which had a plastic tooth combed which my recent mascara had but I couldn't find one. After a little research on the internet I learnt that Lash Stiletto Voluptuous Mascara was a replacement for the Lash Stylist mascara so I thought I may as well give this a go to see if it was as good.

          ***THE MASCARA***
The mascara comes in a bright red tube and has black writing on the front of it. When you buy this mascara it will come in the standard plastic and cardboard packaging so you can tell that this product is brand new and hasn't been tampered with in any way. The mascara wand is slightly wavy, a bit like an S shape and the mascara bristles look the same as any other mascara wand. This mascara claims to make lashes 70% longer look with more voluptuous volume than other mascara's.
When I took the mascara wand out, I wasn't quite sure how I was going to get on with the S shaped wand, as I'm used to using a flat wand which made the mascara very easy to apply to the lashes. I swept the wand once over my lashes a few times and had a look to see how my lashes looked. They did have slight volume to them, but I wouldn't have said they looked longer. The lashes weren't clumped together like some mascara's do. My lashes were separated and each one coated in a thin layer of the mascara cream. When doing my lower lashes, I did make a slight mess, how-ever I think this is due to the fact I'm not used to using the wand and I think I will get better using this within a few days.

My eye-lashes stayed looking great all night without dry bits flaking off. I was pleased at how long lasting this is and it didn't smudge if I rub my eye slightly either. This mascara is easily removed with make-up remover wipes and there's no need to rub too much to get the mascara off.

          ***PRICE/AVALIABILITY***
I purchased this from boots for £8.19, but this is also available to buy from Superdrug as well. (Prices may vary & be sure to check out any offers in each shop before buying!). I did think this was expensive for mascara; how-ever I was willing to give it a go at least once.

          ***OVERALL OPINION**
This doesn't give the same effect as my previous mascara, but it did give my lashes some volume and was long lasting. I would be willing to give other mascara's a go, as I think this is quite pricey and I would ideally like to find one just as good, but maybe slightly cheaper. I would definitely recommend this mascara as it does live up to the Voluptuous Volume name and you may also find that this makes your lashes look longer. It's great that this mascara didn't flake whilst I was out which was sometimes happen when the mascara dries and you rub your eye. This was kind to my eyes and didn't make them feel irritated or sore. Good mascara from a great brand.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Brilliant!

When a new mascara arrives onto the market I always like to give it a go. I have used many Mabelline mascaras in the past and have overall been very happy with the quality and results.

            --Packaging--

The mascara tube is sold in a thin trasparent plastic packet with cardboard backing. Through the plastic it is easy to see an imagine of a sexy black stilleto which stands out from the red background. Down the let hand side of the packet we have the usual information which tells us a little bit about the product. With a quick glance at the packaging we are told that this is a mascara that offers provocative length, is enriched with pro-vitamin B5 and silk protein, offers black patent shine and has a stretch and set brush. The mascara tube boasts a sleek black elegant design and is quite a bit longer in length compared to some other mascaras, particularly others from the Maybelline range. From the lid, the tube tapers down slightly, becoming thinner a the bottom where a red metallic band circles the design.

            --Lash Stiletto--

After unscrewing the lid, I was pleased to discover that the wand is quite lengthy which I find helps to make applying mascara that little be easier. The brush at the end of the wand is also a good length and tapers into a thinner point at the end. This is particularly useful for getting to those little lashes in the corners of the eyes that thicker brushes tend to miss. The mascara formula is what I would consider a good consistency, not too thin and not too thick. I will point out that the brush is black in colour and not red as suggested in the picture above and also on the front of the packaging. I usually find that when using a new mascara for the first time, the formulation appears to be a little too thin, and it takes a few uses to allow the liquid to thicken up.

            --Application--

I have always been a fan of Maybelline mascaras so it's not surprising that I was excited to try this. When removing the wand during the first application the brush seemed to pick up just the right amount of product. As I mentioned earlier, the formula can be a little thin and this was also the case with this one. Despite this, I found the product very easy to apply. It glided onto the lashes and it coated them evenly and separated them well. There were absolutely no problems with clumping or lashes sticking together. I like to apply more than one coat of mascara which can sometimes cause problems and clumps, but I found this mascara to be buildable and the lashes took a second coat of product extremely well. When application is complete, the lashes seem to stay in place and the product lasts well. It is easy to remove with an eye make up remover or warm soapy water.

            --Availability and Price--

The Maybelline brand is widely available in high street stores and supermarkets. I purchased mine for £8.19 from Boots. This may seems a little pricey to some, but is definitely worth the mid-range price tag. I have used mascaras from £20.00 upwards and this definitely stands up against the more expensive brands.

            --Overall--

I am very pleased with this mascara. It is easy to use and provides great lasting coverage. As promised it really helped to lengthen my lashes and made them look thicker, almost providing a false lash effect. The brush is one of the best I have used and really works well to cover all lashes and provide excellent separation. If you are a mascara wearer, I cannot recommend this enough.

              Disadvantages

              not impressed

Mascara; the one make-up product I honestly couldn't live without. I have big brown eyes with long black lashes and LOVE to emphasise these at every given opportunity.

Now I run the risk of sounding very high maintenance but everyday I use two types of mascara, a normal 'volume boosting, false lash effect, thick and long as can be' one for my upper lashes and a waterproof mascara for my bottom lashes. This is because I tend to rub my eyes and forget about said mascara ending up with me looking like a little panda!
I have also started swimming in a bid to keep fit and of course have to look my best in the pool so waterproof mascara is a must!

Every time I run out of mascara I try a new one, I don't rate cheap ones so I usually grab whichever is on offer in Boots. This was new out when I purchased it and therefore £4.99 instead of its RRP of £7.99.

              ------------------
As in the picture but with a blue band around the bottom as mine is the waterproof version as mentioned.
A red, quite square tube which tapers off to one end. Looks good enough.

              The brush
              -----------------
Apparently this is where this mascara varies from others, the unique shape of the applicator brush. Its almost an elongated s shape with a definite wiggle in the middle, very strange and I cant see how this will help 'coat every lash'.

              The test
              -----------------
              Straight away, not very happy.
Applying the mascara I ended up with blobs where the brush curves in which I then had to brush out with an old mascara wand!
I chose black as my eye lashes are black already and id love for them to look blacker but so far not managed this, this is no exception, I don't think it's very black at all and definitely didn't make my lashes stand out anymore than they do without mascara.

I am quite fussy with mascara, I suppose if you have fair, stubby eyelashes any mascara would make a difference but it takes a special one to make my eyes look any different and this is not one.
It added a bit of length but no volume despite branding itself as 'voluptuous'. On my bottom lashes it was a bit clumpy and the silly shaped brush did not aid application at all and I ended up with more under my lashes than on them.

              Waterproof?
              ------------------------
This is the one area where it gets full marks! It didn't budge or smudge even slightly after an hour of swimming so thumbs up for that.
Again though, this sets it up for another downfall....even with my usual trusty waterproof eye make up remover it wasn't budging at all well. It smudged all over my eyes and only a small amount was coming off on the cotton wool, I had to absolutely saturate the cotton wool ball in remover to budge it and even then I had to rub my eyes harder than I would have liked, I was left with red and quite sore eyes :(

So if you have tough skin that can withhold vigorous rubbing and fair lashes then maybe this is the mascara for you, if not I wouldn't bother with it.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Great Masacara wouldn't bat my lashes at it!

I came across this mascara and tried it only because my sister told me my staple mascara Magnifieyes by Rimmel was no longer being made (bad times) but me being the intelligent person I am always buy 2 when they are on offer so I had time to bide while I found a suitable alternative. So tip number one one always buy at least 2 of your favourite product when on offer!...but I digress lol!

What I look for in a mascara is not something that only volumises but also lengthems the lash opening up the whole eye. Now I am blessed with natually long lashes anyway but any eye can do with some glam.

Well I saw an advert for the new stilletto mascara and by God it seemed to fulfil my criteria so next stop was superdrug for the 2nd test...price. So I went over to the Maybelline area and found the Stilletto mascara and ching ching it was on introductory offer for a fiver!(usual price I believe is about 6.99) yay me! so I snapped one up in very black and was on my way.

When I tried it out the consistency is very nice similar to what I was used to in the Rimmel brand but the brush was wavy like an S shape??? here goes nothing I thought and began to apply. Results were great my lashes were not clumpy as is the effect with some volumising mascaras and they did look even longer! I find with this masacara I only need apply to the top lashes as with the bottom it looks a bit much.

I would say this was a great find even at full price however i will be looking out for offers when i will double up once again.

OOH and the bottle is in the cute shape of a stilleto!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

You will regret not buying this!

I always say to put a lot of emphasis on lips. However, there is another part of the body that deserves full emphasis also. They can seduce, melt hearts, win hearts, create fear... yes. Your eyes!

I used to always use any old sort of mascara for my eyes. In fact, at one point I remember buying collection 2000 mascara. Yes, I still to this day slap myself for that. It is so hard to chose the right mascara as so many don't really make a difference to your eyes, and other cause your lashes to stick together. I always thought the perfect mascara was impossible, mascara was just born to be flawed. This was until I saw the advert for stiletto.

Now, I hate mascara adverts. They use lash inserts which defeats the point of evening trying to claim your mascara is the best. However, I really needed a good mascara for my holiday to attract all the Mediterranean boys (hehe) so I decided to give this a shot. This is slightly more expensive compared to other mascaras, but it is worth every single little penny I assure you. I have used this mascara for about two years now, and not once have I ever seen a clump on the brush. I swear, not once!

I love the brush of stiletto as the each little brush of the brush (you know what I mean) is so think, but fine. I can keep my eyes wide open and this brush reaches down to the bottom of my lash right beside my eyeball, and it swipes every last millimetre of lash without poking my eye. I don't know how it does it. The Brush is not to fluffy however it is not too thick and plasticy. This brush is able to reach right into the corners of your lashes (you don't even need that ball-brushed mascara, this one will do), and it emphasises every last single eyelash. This mascara has the ability to make your lashes look thick, emphasised, multiplied and long. Most importantly, it dramatises the eyes which is an important beauty skill that all woman should know.

This mascara is around £10. However, I have seen a lot of variation in this price. I use my mascara every day and it lasts me at least 4 months. In logic, it costs £30 a year for me to have perfect eyelashes all year round. I do sometimes use inserts, this mascara allows the fake eyelashes and real eyelashes to stick together and look more natural. I have never, ever, tried a new mascara as I am so confident that this is the best on the market. I definitely recommend it and have no faults with it at all.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Will be buying again

God I am really learning from writing these reviews that I have too many mascaras! Though can there really be such a thing as too much make up? Naaahh I don't think so!

This review is for Maybelline's Lash Stiletto black mascara though you can also buy it in brown. The mascara is very eye catching in a simple way I feel. The tube is all black but with a black rim at the bottom. It has silver writing and looks very stylish.

When I do my make up I like my eyes to be my stand out feature and although I have reasonably long eye lashes anything that can make them longer is great in my opinion! Maybelline Lash Stiletto claims to give you up to 70% longer and sexier lashes so it was enough for me to give it a go. I bought it when it was on special offer at around £6.00 but the usual retail price is £7.99 I think.

The brush looks like any other standard mascara brush. There are many mascaras out now with tiny little ball brushes, curvy brushes etc but this is just a normal brush. I have noticed that there is a scent to the mascara which reminds me of a vitamin E spray that I used to have from the Body Shop. The boots website does state that the mascara contains a patented Vitamin B5 and silk enriched formula so I am presuming that the smell is that.

When I apply the mascara I can honestly say that they do look longer and in my opinion sexier. It is easy to apply with the large brush and only takes a couple of coats to achieve a really good look. I don't bother with false eye lashes as I feel my eye lashes can do the job on their own with decent mascara and this is one of those mascaras.

The mascara has lasted me around six months on and off and is just starting to thicken up and will need replacing. I don't think this is too bad considering I don't use it daily.

I would thoroughly recommend this mascara and will definitely buy it again.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

This mascara is too wet to use a lot of, meaning not a bold look.

I like to have bold eyes, and long length looking lashes, as I think you're eyes are the most noticed, as they can portray a lot of body language. I bought this mascara in the hope to lengthen and bulk out my lashes. But, when I first used it the mascara was too wet to do anything with, it was messy and just seemed to separate the lashes I had, not bulk them out or elongate them, and it took a long time to dry on my lashes, so every time I blinked within five minutes of applying it would smudge onto my lids and I would have to reapply more mascara. Saying this, after a few uses the mascara seemed to become less watery and easier to apply, and therefore it became easier to bulk out my lashes, as I could apply more at once and not worry about it becoming messy and spidery.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

made my eyelashes look like Jimmy Choos

After using one of the YSL mascaras for years and years, I decided I had to curb my spending. I tried several cheaper mascaras and didn't rate any of them. None of them did what they said and none had the YSL effect. I tried this Maybelline one after a friend had tried one of the other Maybelline ones. I was impressed with the shape of the tube, it made a nice change being square not round, I believe as it is tapered it is to represent a stilletoe. Nice and easy to hold. It opened well and had a nice pop as the brush came out of the tube. It went on well, and lo and behold my lashes looked amazing. They were long, and very black. I was impressed. My usual brand of facial wipes removed it easy enough too. This is a definate item on my purchase list and at least two thirds cheaper than the YSL one I had previously used. Truly amazed and immensely pleased.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

                    Not very good

                    Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara:

I like quite dramatic eyes but I have very pale, short eyelashes so I need a great mascara. Having said that I'm not really willing to pay more than £10.00 either and for that I want a really GREAT mascara. Needless to say I've tried quite a few in the quest to find something that works well. My latest purchase was Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara for three reasons; it was on offer, the adverts had intrigued me and the packaging was attractive.

For those of you that haven't seen this mascara, it comes in a tapered black tube which is wider at the top, (brush end), and slims down to a metallic red point. It is made to resemble the stiletto heel of a shoe and Maybelline claim that it does for lashes what stilettos do for legs, (i.e. makes them look longer). I think it's quite attractive and black and red are my favourite colours.

I purchased the black one but it is also available in brown if you are looking for a more natural look. I wasn't impressed with how black this is, it' just not dark enough me but then I do like very black mascara and I expect this would be fine for a lot of people.

The brush is fairly standard and the same as you get in most cheap mascaras. It does the job but it's nothing special at all. I do find it a little big and clumsy to use and I find it difficult to coat the smaller lashes at the corners of my eyes without getting mascara on my face.

Once the mascara is on my lashes it takes a long time to dry and I often find that I end up with more mascara on my face from blinking! It doesn't make any difference to the length or thickness of my lashes. For the £6.50, (normally £7.82), I paid I was really disappointed that the only thing it did was make my lashes black!

Maybe I just expect too much from mascaras but they don't seem to live up to their marketing hype and I am almost always let down. I've used some really cheap mascaras in the past, (like £2.00 ones), that have been just as good. To be honest I wouldn't recommend this mascara, I'd save the money and buy something else instead. At least it's nearly finished!

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

A great value mascara which does what it says on the tin!

When it comes to make up, when I am running out of a particular item, I don't necessarily go out and replace it with the same brand product, I like to try new products and brands.

I like the catchy name for this foundation - lash stiletto, meaning it gives height!

The tube has edges, rather than it being a cylinder, I find that this shape is a lot easier to handle, I feel as though I have a tighter grip than normal cylinder mascara.

The application wand is very long and thin compared to regular mascara wands and is easy to apply, it just slides on smoothly.

You probably only need one application; however I dare any woman on this planet to try and apply any mascara once! Its just one of those things, if you don't apply it more than once you feel like you're missing out! (Men are now thinking what on earth is that woman talking about, but we ladies understand!)

I am a big fan of false lashes, and I think that this mascara is not far off from giving the effect of false lashes. It is much better than most of the other brands I have used in the past. It looks good, it does not clump and it separates the lashes.

I would defiantly buy this product again.

This mascara comes in black or brown.

This mascara can be purchased in Boots for £7.82 and this mascara and other selected Maybelline products are on a 3 for 2 offer! Bargain!
