I bought this Maybelline moisture whip lipstick a while ago in a local drugstore for about £3.00.
~ Price and availability ~
Maybelline seem to have discontinued this lipstick line, but the lipstick can still be found on www.amazon.co.uk and www.ebay.co.uk, brand new for £3.00-£4.00.
It is available in a wide range of colours.
~ Appearance ~
It comes in a square shaped stick made from burgundy coloured plastic. There is a metal band around the middle of the lipstick, which separates the lipstick from the lid.
The bottom of the lipstick has a round sticker on with 'Moisture Whip' on the top and then the Maybelline address on the bottom. In the middle it gives you the name and the number of the shade. Mine is number 307 and is called Mocha Ice. It also tells you that this product weighs 4.2g.
The lipstick twists up easily to reveal about 1 inch of lipstick.
The lipstick has an angled edge, which is slightly curved for ease of application.
~ Use ~
The lipstick I have, Mocha Ice is a light brown colour and it gives my lips a bronzed shimmery look.
It looks nice on my lips, but with a name such as 'Moisture Whip' I would have expected something a bit more moisturising. While I would not say that this feels drying, I think the shimmer takes away from the moisturising properties the lipstick otherwise would have.
You can feel the tiny bits of shimmer on your lips when you rub them together, which is quite irritating and I think if the shimmery bits were not in this lipstick, it would feel more moisturising.
I do really like the reflective shimmery effect this lipstick has, but it doesn't feel as good to wear as other lipsticks and I am quite aware of the product being on my lips while I have it on.
The lipstick is fairly long lasting, managing a good few hours before wearing off, but if you are eating or drinking it will need to be topped up or reapplied regularly.
I would consider buying this lipstick again if I saw it in a shade I really liked, especially if it was free of shimmer, as I really like the effect this one has given my lips, but it isn't the most comfortable or the most moisturising lipstick I have used and I don't think I could recommend it.
I really like Maybelline products and this lipstick is lovely to use and comes in a range of very flattering colours without being too bright and tacky.
It makes your lips feel soft when you apply it and doesn't feel sticky at all. The only problem which I find is that it does wear off fairly quickly but I always find that to be the case with these kind of lipsticks.
I would choose this lipstick over a stay put one though as it feels much softer and smoother and gives a more natural look.
I think it does make my lips look fuller and emphasises them but is not shiny so therefore looks sleeker. I have several shades of this lipstick and all look natural and always have one in mu handbag.
I think these lipsticks are perfect for everyday use but I think for an evening I would choose a glossier looking lipstick with longer staying power so I don't have to keep reapplying it.
Since I started wearing makeup a few years ago properly I have loads given to me that have been snap purchased or unwanted gifts of the wrong colour bought, so now have two makeup bags one of which is huge with everyone's' else's cast off, lol!
One of the products I ended up with was a posh 'Moisture Whip' by Maybelline which is a very girly pink lipstick in the shade of 'Misty Lilac'.
Now ordinarily I don't wear lipstick as I find them too heavy and they dry my lips out but when I tried this it definitely seems more moisturising than the other ones I've tried...
The lipstick itself comes in a shiny brown square tube with a gold trim round the applicator and the usual twist action.
It smells quite nice but doesn't say whether or not it's hypoallergenic but I've had no reaction from it, in fact my lips looked and felt plumper for ages after I applied it.
The lipstick itself looks very two tone and shimmery, there must be thousands of tiny glitter particles in it and it looks very pretty.
I only applied a thin coating on my lips at first but it is very sleek so it wasn't enough so I put it on slightly thicker and it looks very glossy and nice!
I tried it over three days during the holidays to see if I would wear it ordinarily, the main thing for me was it didn't feel artificial on my mouth which it didn't and it looked light and shiny which it did :)
I really liked this brand and this shade; it looks really natural and felt really good for my lips so I could recommend this for people like me who don't like the feel of really thick lipstick slicked on.
Five stars for Maybelline, I like it and it had fairly good staying powder plus came off easily with my makeup wipes at the end of the day!
love this Maybelline Moisture Whip Lipstick. It comes in a little brown pretty lookin tube with a shiney gold bit round the middle, and because of that its very easy to find at the bottom of your make up bag. The lipstick goes on like adream and looks really wonderful. The only downside is that you have to apply it constantly, but to be honest I find this with most lipsticks. I use this as a going out lipstick cause it looks to darn nice for in the day and when i wear it out, i always feel more attractive with it on, sounds silly but its true. At roughly £6.00 its alittle pricey but it does do wonders for your lips
I have been using Maybelline's Moisture Whip lipstick as a daytime makeup for about 4 years now; I will die the day they stop producing it. I have always used "Silver Sand" which is a beautiful neutral colour and has a really great beige/silver tinge to it. I have pale skin, blonde hair and very blue eyes and this colour is perfect for me. The lipstick itself really does moisturise, it's shiny but not too shiny and it stays on! Since it's a pale colour it doesn't bleed into the skin but lipliner looks great with it anyway and also prevents any possible bleeding of the colour. It's great value for the price (about £4.99) and I have tried so many lipsticks ranging from Chanel to Maybelline and Maybelline is the best I have tried- it comes in lots of colours and is a really nice balance between shiny and matt- go buy it!!!
