Advantages: beautiful dewy texture, cheap.
Disadvantages: wears off after a few hours.
After Max Factor discontinued my foundation (weeps. I thought the search was over), I was stuck with which product to try next.
My skin is very difficult.
Its very dry over the t zone area, very very sensitive, and flares up bright red even when using the simplest of products.
I needed a foundation with fantastic coverage, that could last longer than a couple of hours, and wouldnt break the bank.
Whilst flicking through a magazine, I came across a sample of Maybelline Pure liquid mineral foundation.
I wouldnt usually consider mineral foundation in any form. I have found that only people with already perfect skin can get away with it. I was pleasently suprised however, after testing a little of the foundation on my hand.
The texture was very smooth, and almost elastic in how easily it covered a large area of my hand. It completely covered a freckle on the back of my hand, but didnt have a thick gloopy consistency.
Next time I popped into Superdrug, I picked up a bottle, at the trail price of around £5.90.
I believe it usually retails for £7.82 in Boots.
What does Maybelline say?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybelline says that they have proven that Pure liquid mineral foundation is good for your skin (marvellous).
The product is enriched with purified micro minerals, and contains 0% oil, 0% waxes, 0% perfume. It has an spf of 15.
The website promises up to 8 hours hydration, as it contains 37% water.
The foundation comes in 8 different shades.
The website states,
"Your skin will love our micro-mineral infused liquid foundation... Perfect, flawless yet breathable coverage. Skin appears visibly improved and looks so natural, so healthy.
Did it live up to the hype?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Actually, yes. I found th foundation was very easy to apply. it was quite a liquid texture, and didnt dry too quickly, so i didnt have to rush to blend it in. I found that a very small amount of the foundation went an incredibly long way, which is useful, because obviously i dont want to have to buy a new foundation every couple of weeks.
The bottle was very easy to use, and the pump at the top of the bottle distributed the perfect amount of the product onto my finger.
I found it very easy to find a shade to match to my skintone (ivory) and it blends in around my jawline flawlessly (no silly tide mark).
I also found that i dont need to use any concealer with this foundation, which is a bonus.
The overall effect, once the foundation is applied, is lovely. It has a lovely dewy texture, which looks very natural, and very fresh. Quite a lot of people commented on my skin looking nice.
After a few hours (around six) the foundation starts to wear away a little on my nose and chin, so it doesnt last a desperatly long time, but its quite easy to touch up, and doesnt seem to clog with reapplication like other foundations do.
Would I buy it again?

Im not sure at the moment. I am very happy using it until it runs out, but I need a foundation that lasts a little longer, and is a little more hardwearing.
This foundation however is a very good stop gap, and I really love how dewy it makes my skin look. Very good value for money, very easy to use. A good find!

- 02/03/09 I think this is great too - I only wear foundation for very rare nights out however so it doesn't need to be particularly long lasting. Good review. |
