Advantages: Health and natural looking with added skin benefits
Disadvantages: glass bottle, tacky feeling until dry
*Background*
I am a big fan of maybelline makeup, they are my fav 'cheaper' brand (as opposed to benefit, clinque etc!) I have been using a variety of maybelline foundations for years now and decided to give this one a try as I was looking to have a more natural look when going to work.
*Availability*
This product is available from boots, superdrug, adsa. Costs around £7.00 (depending on the exact shop) and is recognisable cheaper online (ebay). It comes in 8 different shades.
*Packaging*
Clear glass bottle with a plastic lid. Foundation is squeezed through a pump. I am not keen on the glass packaging as I am worried it may smash, however ti gives a very clear indication of the colour which I have found to be a true reflection of the colour on my skin. Labels are well informative. An ingredients list can be found underneath the back label.
*The product*
This is maybelline's first ever liquid mineral foundation. It is said to be a breathable foundation which will give you a healthy and flawless look. In a survey of 180 consumers, maybelline found that over 80% agreed that their skin looked healthy, natural and radiant when using this product. Maybelline also suggest that this product will blend well with your skin tone. The product is enriched with micro-minerals and is 37% water. There is no oil, wax, talc or perfume in this product and it boasts an spf 15. The product gives your skin a total of 8 hrs hydration. Can only be purchased in one size, 30ml - this has a shelf life of 12 months.
*My opinion*
I have purchased Sand, Shade 030 for £7.00 from superdrug. I have found that a little goes a long way and that one full pump of the foundation covers most of my face. I am extremely pleased with how well the foundation blends with my natural skin tone. I have been using my finger-tips to blend. Normally I like to apply foundation to a moisturised face which is still quite tacky, however I have found with this foundation that it is best to let the moistursier set completely. The foundation is extremely light and smooth yet gives very good coverage for areas of the skin which are different tones.
Some consumers have said this foundation is oily, which is surprising since there is no oil in the product. I would not describe it is oily but it certainly gives a raidiant glow. This foundation would be lovely for someone who only wears foundation as then you would have the benefit of this healthy glow, however I use bronzer then blusher and the glow is not evident after using other products on top.
The main problem with this foundation for me, is that it is tacky and takes quite a while to dry in before I can put on my bronzer.
The foundation lasts quite well for a normal day, however doesn't have much staying power during exercising (not a big problem really - but worth mentioning). It's also not touchproof as some other maybelline foundations are.
I have enjoyed the breathable and light feeling of this foundation and since using it I have had no spots or dry skin - so it seems as though my skin is also enjoying the benefits.
This foundation gives me an extremely healthy and natural look, almost as if I was not wearing foundation so it's great for daily use, however not going to be ideal for a night out of when I have fake tan on!
*Summary*
A natural looking foundation which has selected skin benefits, great coverage, easy to blend, bottle shows a true reflection of the actual colour, however a little sticky until it dries it with average staying power.
Summary: I would recommend for a natural health look
