Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation

Everyone I know have tried some sort of Maybelline's products and loved them. I am one of them and I have bought their mascaras, eye shadows, liquid foundations etc and have had great results.

I have used one of their liquid foundations in the past, before moving onto the new trend powder mineral foundations, which I loved and used for years mostly because I don't like the feel of loads of makeup on my face. That was until recently when I saw some pictures of myself and my not so perfect skin and I thought I really must start wearing more makeup, I need to hide my imperfections.

Recently I bought a high end foundation from MAC for £19 with terrible results so I thought about high street brands. Maybelline stood out for my again especially with their pure mineral liquid foundation. Perfect as I have just come away from mineral makeup so wanted to stay with that formula, although I have never seen a liquid mineral foundation before and Maybelline are right they are the first to develop this formulation.

I bought this foundation from Boots for £7.82, which seems an absolute bargain to me especially since I paid £19 for one and hated it. I got it in their lightest colour, which is ivory. To my surprise it is a great colour match, finally, although on my paler days the foundation does look a little darker on me but a little buffing and the colour looks great. In fact this foundation looks so natural I have had friends give me really good comments on my skin.

Maybelline do eight shades in total including:
* Ivory, caramel, fawn, nude, honey beige, sand, cameo and porcelain.

A lot of women test their foundations on the back of their hand to see if a particular colour is right for them, this is not right; foundations should always be tested on your jaw line going up to your cheek. Reason being the colour of your hand to your face is different due to where the light hits you.
Some makeup artists don't agree with this and say you should match your foundation to your neck colour, but in all honestly I can't see this happening as there is defiantly nothing else that is paler on the market, and if it is good for my pale skin it will be good for you, unless you are very, very fair.

Maybelline say this foundation has 0% oil, 0% waxes, 0% perfume and with an SPF of 15. You get up to 8 hours hydration and it is made with 37% water. Your skin will look natural and luminous with breathable coverage, sounds great.

The bottle is glass, quite heavy and sleek with a black pump and clear plastic lid and is a good 30ml size.

In store while testing this foundation I noticed the consistency was runny but not so runny that it runs off your hand before you have chance to apply. When you press down the pump the product comes out quite fast and you get quite a bit out. I rubbed a little into my hand and noticed it is easy to blend and seemed to have good coverage, although the product is light and runny.

Next day after my cleansing routine I got my new mineral liquid foundation and only pumped out half the amount onto the back of my clean hand, which seemed significant enough for the whole facial area. I got my Royal foundation brush, which I love to use with liquid foundations and began to dab the tip of the brush into the product.

With all foundations it is best to start in the middle and work outwards, so I started with my nose, chin, forehead and then cheeks blending outwards into the hairline as I went. As I was blending it around my nose where my pores are I noticed it didn't enhance them, which is a great plus instead it seemed to cover them up and look almost flawless.
While I was applying I noticed how easy and quickly it is to apply, blend and have great looking skin. I found it doesn't cake or look uneven in any areas, although you may need a little more coverage with concealer under the eyes, around the nose and on blemished as this foundation doesn't cover everything flawlessly.

It is very light in texture and doesn't feel like your wearing foundation.

Although this is said to be oil free I expected to be none shiny for at least a few hours, this is not so I do have to touch up in the day on the shiny areas. But a quick sweep of powder though and I am looking like new, with luminous dewy skin.

The other good thing I have noticed with wearing this foundation is that it doesn't break you out in spots like other foundations can.

I also wouldn't say this foundation lasts all day, as it does tend to rub off but it's not like there is nothing on your face you may be able to see some redness coming through on areas so it's not a huge deal. Again just a quick touch up with the foundation and you're looking like new, but this is wearing it without a primer first. With a primer underneath you will notice this foundation will stay put until you decide to take it off, although excess rubbing will remove some product.

When the time comes to remove this product I feel it can be removed with ease. Simply cleanse your face twice at night just to make sure all product has been removed and that's it.

Summary: A great foundation that is a joy to use.
