Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation
Advantages: Light and easily blended
After my complete and utter disaster with my Rimmel foundation I have in and bought a new foundation after being so sick and tired of having orange patches and it becoming patchy. With a bit more time on my hands I was able to have a look into a few foundations and go back to the brand which I really do like; Maybelline. They may not be the most expensive or the cheapest but their middle of the road priced foundations I find are actually pretty great and seem to suit my skin wonderfully.
In my local Morrisons which actually stocks a good Maybelline display were various reduced items including the Maybelline Pure Minerals Liquid Foundation. I have had great success with Maybelline's foundations in the past and as the Pure Minerals foundation was reduced by just over £4 I thought at half the price it was certainly worth a go. The variety of shades offered a good choice which makes the choice quite a bit easier!
Maybelline Pure Minerals Liquid Foundation comes in a circular round glass bottle which features a snap on/off clear plastic top which goes over the black pump (this bottle is a pump action bottle). The bottle itself is clear glass so you can easily see the colour of the foundation as well as how much you have left to use which personally I find incredibly useful! The labelling is incredibly simple as it is just font rather than a label, its minimalist but it works. It gives you all the information you need to know.
Maybelline Pure Minerals Liquid Foundation is made from mineralised water which is meant to be a lot better on your skin. It apparently gives healthier and natural looking skin by helping to cover up dark circles and conceal imperfections. It does it apparently by using micro-minerals which give a flawless, natural look. The foundation itself is talc, oil and perfume free and is suitable for people with sensitive skin (I'm currently suffering with sensitive skin at the moment for some reason). Because it is light on the skin Maybelline also claim it doesn't block pores which is even better.
To use the foundation you just need to shake it up a few times before use and then press down on the black pump at the top of the bottle. It doesn't have long before the foundation comes out. It has quite a thin consistency which I was surprised at because of the other Maybelline foundations I have used but I wasn't going to write it off due to its consistency. The foundation is matt in colour and has absolutely no fragrance whatsoever.
To apply the foundation you need to work from the outside working in. You can use either your fingers or a sponge. Personally I use a sponge and then blend with my fingers especially around the eye area and nose. Despite its thin consistency you only need a small amount to cover a decent area which is great considering I thought it may be a foundation that you need to use loads of but I couldn't have been more wrong! The foundation is easy to blend and doesn't give a patchy look whatsoever. It simply offers a nice natural look which doesn't look false or fake but nicely natural.
Generally when I wear foundation I want it to last a decent amount of time before reapplying this is normally when I am at work and just don't have the time to re-apply my make up. I am please to say that this foundation wears well and certainly lasts a good 8 hours before needing a little touching up. Yes, after around 5 hours it doesn't look as fresh but you can tell it is still there and your skin has a nice glow to it. It certainly doesn't go patchy over the course of the day nor does it become to look drab and worn as some foundations can.
Removing the foundation is simple however you choose to the foundation lifts off easily. My skin has been sensitive of late for some reason and this foundation certainly hasn't angered it and my skin has been left soft and smooth without any irritation which is obviously great. My only small gripe with this foundation is simply the consistency but as you don't need to use a lot at any one time then I can't complain whatsoever. This is certainly a great foundation and one that I would quite happily recommend to all.
