Advantages: Nice lustre and really does strenghten nails

Disadvantages: Peels off easily when it contact with water, very verrrrry slow drying time!

My nails are like paper, seriously, they can be ripped as easily as fine tissue (I really should see someone about that!). So when I discovered Maybelline 'Salon Manicure' nail polish, I jumped at the chance to greatly improve the look and strength of my lacklustre nails.

At an average price of £3.59 a bottle, it's not bad price wise as I've seen several other brands offering the same sort of strengthener for around a fiver.

The key to the strengthening action of this polish is that it contains 'Diamond Powder' - not only does this strengthen the nails but also once applied and dries, it appears to have a sort of luminescent sparkle that's really appealing and sophisticated (and doesn't look as if you've stolen your little sister's glitter nail polish).

After around 2 coats of this stuff my nails feel invincible...until they come into contact with water that is. After having a shower or having washed my hands several times, the polish starts to peel off! NOT FUN when you've just spent 30 minutes applying the stuff! Also, this polish takes AGES to dry! If you've got one of those professional nail drying machines like they have in salons then I'd recommend you whip that out when using this because seriously, I've sat doing nothing for about 20 minutes waiting for it to become bone-dry and even then I was able to 'dent' and smudge the varnish accidentally.

On the plus side, this varnish can be used as a base or topcoat to compliment your usual manicure colour or just looks lovely on its own. Plus you feel like you're doing something to nourish your nails as you paint your nails and not just ruthlessly smothering them in nasty goop!

Summary: Not a bad product but could do with some improvements
