I am a big fan of lip glosses rather than lipsticks and I was attracted to the Maybelline Shiny-licious due to it colour, more than the brand. I got mine at my local beauty store for £1.50, which I consider to be a bargain, I think they retail for around £2-3.50 depending upon where you shop. The product comes in a 14ml clear tube with a twist off lid that stays put and has never, caused me any problems in terms of leakage, I tend to just leave it at the bottom of my bag, so it gets knocked around quite a bit. I have the 70 Caramella shade and it smells like caramel when being applied, which is great. The colour is fairly subtle, it is natural and lighter than the colour in the tube, as once applied it is not as concentrated when viewed in the tube. To apply the gloss you just need to gently squeeze the tube and a small amount of the product comes out of the applicator, which is made of soft, almost fluffy material; the website describes the tip as a 'precision flock applicator'. The applicator is slanted for easy application; it works very well and glides over the lips giving an even coverage. The product itself is very thick and has a lovely glossy shine. At first I thought it to be too thick put it never looks like I have too much applied, I tend to squeeze out a small bit and apply to my bottom lip and then use what's left to do the top lip. I would say that once applied that it lasts for a few hours, provided that I do not eat or drink, as it transfers very quickly. It is not sticky and provides hydration for my lips whilst I am wearing it. It is allergy tested and dermatologist tested. The range comes is a variety of swatches, including pinks, mauves, plums, corals, reds, browns and naturals, so it offers something for everyone. Caramella is classed as a brown shade. Overall I would say that this gloss has become my favourite, the shade is perfect for my colouring, its not sticky, its easy to apply and smells delicious. I would recommend to others.
-- Reasons for buying -- On my usual online shopping with fragrance direct for my make-up products I came across this lip gloss which was very inexpensive. As I have recently ran out of my everyday lip gloss I decided I would add this to my order and give it a try. In the past I have bought many lip glosses which have either a watery or too thick consistency. As this was such a bargain I couldn't stop myself. I like nude colours for day make-up as I like to look more natural. So I ordered the colour Raiz n Romance. -- Appearance -- The lip gloss comes in a transparent squeezable plastic tube, with the 'Maybelline' Logo across the top and the name of the product and shade colour underneath. You simply unscrew and re-screw the lid, this makes sure the product is protected against leakages. -- Price and Availability -- I bought this from fragrance direct for £1.50 which I think is an absolute bargain as the RRP is £5.95. For a lip gloss of this sort I wouldn't of paid the full RRP as I think that is fairly expensive and wouldn't encourage me to purchase it. This is available in many shops online, I have never actually came across this product in super markets or drug stores. There are a wide variety of beautiful shades to choose from, anything from nude and natural to bright and colourful! * Raiz n Razle * Clearly In Love * Raiz n Romance * Sugar Plum * Berry Romantic * Berry Clear * Lolly Pink * Fire Cracker * Clearly In Love * Berry Bella * Pink Lace * Sunset Sparkle * Strawberry Whizz * Caramella * Sweet Darling * Peaches n Cream * Bronze Gleam * Malted Mauve * Fatal Star * Rasin The Bar * Berry Sweet And many more. -- My experience -- I adore this lip gloss for many reasons. Firstly being the consistency is not to water, yet not to thick. The angled applicator achieves a even, smooth result when applying. It coats the lips wonderfully and doesn't leave a sticky feeling when you rub your lips together. All the shades are gorgeous and cover a wide range which will compliment many people skin tones, personalities and different event's whether it's every day lip gloss or a saucy night out. I tend to go for the more neutral, nude tones as they compliment my day make-up and skin tone the best. I did also not long ago purchase the ' Berry Romantic' which is a lovely reddish, pink colour which also compliments my make-up on a night out when I don't feel like going dramatic on the eyes. I simply apply a little mascara and then apply the 'Berry Romantic' which instantly gives my cheeks colour and defines my lips tremendously. The lip gloss leaves a love sheen appearance making them look very plump and defined. The lip gloss has lasted me ages, having it about 2 months, using regularly and still having half of the tube left. The amount you receive is 11.3ml. I can apply this in the morning when applying my make-up and can still see it on my lips when it comes to lunch time. They also smell incredibly, which is why berries or fruits in most of the names. I could actually eat them, it smells so good! The only negative I can come up with is it not being available in shops as it would be nice to be able to test out the colours in store instead of just guessing online which ones will suit me. Maybe that is why I don't step out of my comfort zone and try something new. Other than that the lip gloss is absolutely fantastic for the small price you pay and is of very high quality. -- Conclusion -- Great lip gloss which gives a lovely shiny, fuller look to lips and smells incredible! Great price and great quality with a wide variety of amazing colours to choose from!
I came across this lovely lip gloss online, after hunting in vain for a replacement of one of my favourite lip glosses - Maybelline's Fruity Jelly Lip Gloss in shade 05, Plum-Prune. In spite of an exhaustive internet search I was not able to find the shade I wanted, although a few other colours were available, so I assume that it has now been discontinued (naughty Maybelline, naughty!). I then decided to look more closely at Maybelline's other lip glosses, in the hope that they had made a newer version, or that I could find something as close as possible to the shade I really wanted. So I was delighted to find their Shiny Licious Lip Gloss, which I bought in the shade Sugar Plum, shade number 50. Sugar Plum is a very soft plum shade that actually enhances my own lip colour - a bit too much! Although I love subtle shades, I'm afraid this one is almost too subtle for me. Because Sugar Plum is such a close match to the colour of my lips, the result looks as if I'm wearing a beautiful lip balm, rather than a lip gloss that would give my lips colour and definition. However, that is my only disappointment, and it certainly would not stop me from buying another shade from this range. This lip gloss comes in a clear tube, as you would expect, so that you can see the colour of the product within. After unscrewing the cap, you should then give it a gentle squeeze to release the gloss, which can be applied directly to your lips. Alternatively, you can apply it by using your finger or a lip brush. The gloss is slightly scented. On application, it felt cool on my lips, and although the products in this range are supposed to have fruity flavours, mine tasted more like mint. The coolness continued, and felt very pleasant. Shiny Licious lives up to its name, and has a lovely, glossy shine that gives a sheer coverage. For me, this is enhanced by the fact that it doesn't feel at all sticky. I never suffer from the problem some other lip gloss users find, when the wind blows strands of hair onto their lips, as my hair is simply too short. But I do not like a lip gloss to feel too sticky. I prefer a product - any make-up product - to enhance my good points, disguise the bad points, and for the end result to feel as if I'm not wearing any make-up at all. This gloss gives a light to medium cover, lasted well, and I really love the lightweight feel. According to the product page on Amazon, this lip gloss has been allergy tested and dermatologically tested. I paid £1.95 for mine (the RRP is £5.95), from a top-rated seller on eBay. There was no charge for delivery. I always check out any neutral or negative ratings, even with the top-rated sellers, and so made my decision based on the reputation of the seller as well as cost. I was pleased with how quickly it arrived. You can find a wide variety of shades from online outlets such as eBay and Amazon as well as other retailers. Delivery charges vary. Some shades in this range come with flavour-related names, such as Cherry-Berry, Coffee Break, Malted Mauve, Berry Ready and Melon Ball, and I imagine they are all supposed to taste and smell like their name. Other have names such as Ivory Kiss and Pink Lace. There is also a clear version - Clearly in Love. As the only fault I could find with this lip gloss was that the shade I chose matched my own lip colour too closely, and was otherwise a lovely product to use, I am giving it five stars. I'm a bit of a lip gloss addict, and when I find one that I really love I usually buy a spare, so that I can be sure of having the product for as long as possible. Alas, I didn't do that with my Fruity Jelly. So if anyone knows where I can find Maybelline's Fruity Jelly Lip Gloss in Plum-Prune, would you please be very kind and let me know?
