I am not particularly loyal to any one brand of make up, including mascara, I will buy whatever is on special offer.
I found this one on eBay for under 2 quid and thought that I would give it a go mainly for the price.
Unfortunately I think it was a waste of money and a bad choice!!
Pretty thin standard style mascara brush, easy to get into the eye corners and tiny lashes either side. Upon pulling out of the tube it leaves an adequate amount of product on the brush, enough, yet not too much.
I find that even not 2 coats of this provide the efffect I like my eyelashes to have, so had to keep piling on, although the brush is easily maneuverable and easy to hold so therefore is easy to use.
I had the black and don't think the pigment was particularly strong as I like it to be, it was definitely black looking at it but not a very punchy colour once applied.
No amount of mascara would provide me with the desired effect, I was not impressed by it's measly performance, it barely thickened or lifted just added a bit of slightly clumpy colour, and it got very frustrating trying to coax it into actually working. So just ended up leaving about 3 coats on and going out.
It is a very disappointing product, I know it is not expensive but the title sky high curves is very misleading as there's nothing at all 'sky high' about the effects of using this product.
It did not leave any clumps behind though fortunately, else having short black clumpy lashes would have just been a disaster.
I like my mascara to make the eyes 'pop' and you can barely tell you have got it on.
A waste of my money, as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
3 out of 10.
Oh, I always like this product, and this is already the 3rd time I come back to the counter buying the same product. I like this not only that this mascara is waterproof, but also it last long in your lash so you don't have to retouch the makeup every hours.
The compound in this mascara is quite light, and the effect is only to make it more curly. This is not going to make your lash longer or thicker, it won't give the dramatic effect, so I use this mascara for daily use only. It is enough to make you look fresh in the morning because the curly lash would make your eyes widen a little.
I like this because it dries fast in your lash, so you don't need long time to apply this cosmetics. I also like this, because the price is really affordable and it is really worth what you got. I think every woman, working woman, need this stuff in their daily cosmetic bag.
The Maybelline brand is a trusted drugstore brand which usually provides high quality products for a low price, with the slogan "Maybe she's born with it? ... Maybe its Maybelline". However, I think that they have failed to step up to the mark on the waterproof mascara.
I was going on a outdoors weekend and the weather was forecast to rain rain rain, with intervals of rain. I didn't have a waterproof mascara at the time so decided to buy one. I purchased Maybelline Sky High Curves mascara for £3 and it came with many promises such as lengthen, separate, stays on but comes off easily with makeup remover etc.
These are just some of the claims from the website:
This lengthening and curling mascara sets lashes to a daring 30-degree curve.
No clumps, no globs
Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
Washable; also available in waterproof formula
Hmm...sounded too good to be true. When I tried the mascara the first thing I noticed was the incredibly long wand, not being used to an applicator this long, I had trouble with the precision of application. The actual consistency of the mascara seems quite creamy, which usually indicates that it will not dry up quickly. However, even on the first application I had clumps forming. This was very dissapointing, as was the fact that the wand didn't separate lashes to create a fuller look, but clumped them together to give me the spiders legs appearance.
The good thing about the mascara is it is waterproof...VERY waterproof! The mascara is really hard to remove, even with waterproof eye makeup remover. However, if you have a shower for example, you may find flakes of the mascara underneath the eye, these do not easily brush off.
It did not help to lengthen or curl my lashes, but did hold the curl from my eyelash curlers well.
Overall, I am very dissapointed with the product - it clumps, is difficult to remove and apply.
Sky High Curves. Thats definately what I got! Within the first stroke of my eyelashes they were shockingly uplifted. To be very honest I have over 15 different mascaras and this one did it for me. It makes your eyeslashes look fuller and more curvier after just a few amount of coats. Mascaras do different things. The cheaper ones make your eye lashes clump up and look lyk spiders whereas the dearer ones make them look separated and longer. Some people prefer clumped up lashes and others prefer separated. This mascara helps you acheive the look between them two catergories. Your eyelashes will look neither clumped or separated. To be fair it makes your eyelashes look natural but gives them a boost at the same time. I have it is soft black which looks nice but next time I will go for a solid dark black as the lighter black doesnt really suit me.
I'm a mug for buying mascaras and eyeshadows. I will always try the newest one advertised and regret it most of the time. Out of pocket because they are quite expensive. Expensive is not always the best as I've found to my dismay.
I always wear mascara, whether going out or not. The rest of the makeup doesn't matter if I'm staying in but I must have eyelashes!
I have tried so many different makes trying to get the fantastic lashes we see on the TV or in magazines. No chance! My eyelashes are brown and not long so I really need a lengthening mascara and I prefer black.
I have always tried out new ones and especially the Maybelline ones. Sky High Curves seemed quite good in the adverts but did not curve for me. It was quite a good brush as it was a bit thinner than some others. It did not make my eyelashes noticeable, very thin looking and sparse. Expensive for something that did not work too well for me.
Product: Sky High Corves Mascara - lengthening and thickening mascara
How many of you girls out there own /have owned a Maybelline Great Lash mascara? I bet quite a few! Like so many others I love the original Maybellinge mascara, and keep trying their new products. Looking for a lenthening/thickening mascara for use primarelly on small stages and maybe for the odd night out I tried the Sky High Curves mascara by Maybelline.
Maybelline claim that their mascara will lengthen and thicken your lashed without causing any damage. The flexible polymers (what ever that means in plain english) are ment to stretches and moulds to the lashes for extreme length and curl, at the same time as a lightweight formula, enriched with conditioning and softening properties, keeps lashes flexible and healthy. Also, the brush is specially created to bend and curl the lashes.
So how much of this works in reallity?
The mascara does definatelly make a big difference to your eyes. The lashes are easilly seperated from each other, and the formula is thin and easy to apply, but still gives voume. The result is quite dramatic. So dramatic that when I once used it when applying make up for a childrens musical I had to remove it and take another mascara - the result was far to dramatic and grown up to pass for a girl of 11, even at a distance!
I've had my mascara for about 6 months, and with time it's got a bit thicker and tends to lump. 6 months is on the other hand a recomended maximum to use the same mascara, so that might be considered normal. The smell is non-existant.
But... there is always a but, isn't there? In this case it is simply: is it worth it? The mascara is quite a bit more expensive than the original Great Lash mascara, and to be honest - the difference is big, but it's still only about your eye lashes. A tiny detail in your face and make up.
Some times I wonder why I continue looking for mascaras. I could just as well stick with Great Lash (Maybellines classic mascara, already mentioned above). This is a good mascara, but if we go into detail on why and how we are already down to a level of detail that is never noticed by any one except our selves, so I'll use this one upp and get a cheaper one next time!
Containing ultra flexible polymers it stretches and moulds to the lashes for extreme length and anti-gravity curl /
