One essential in my handbag is my Maybelline Superstay 24hr Concealer. I discovered it by chance about a year ago and have used it since then religiously. I have one of those skin types that no matter what you do with it or what you put on it, it always comes out in spots. Obviously it goes without saying that I do my morning and evening ritual of spot treatments, but there is only so much you can do and beyond that it's about trying to cover them up.
The concealers I was using previously just wasn't doing it. Firstly they wouldn't cover up the spots and secondly when they did they couldn't have been more obvious that I had concealer on - as this great big blob would just sit there. It was horrible! Anyway, a friend of mine told me about Maybelline's 24hr concealer and said that is was really good, plus it comes in different shades.
The next day I went down to superdrug and found it quite easily. This concealer is in a long tube with a white lid and on the body of the concealer it has the name of it. The price is £6.19 in superdrug, although a quick search just told me that it is available from about £3 elsewhere - so it may be worth searching around. Also, something that may be of note is that superdrug are doing 3 for 2, so you could get 3 lots and only pay for 2.
Even once I had paid for it, I was still a bit dubious - obviously I had tried it in the shop, on my hand and it felt nice, thick even. It wasn't until I got home and used it properly that I really noticed the difference, and having a fresh looking face has given me so much more confidence. You apply it a bit like mascara, it has a similar type of brush, although I have recently purchased a concealer brush because it smooths the edges more and makes it less visible that you have concealer on. You can either use the brush directly like that or how I used to do it was dab it on my finger - and then rub it in evenly around your face. I then follow it with a foundation and some powder.
I think it looks good and even other people say how fresh faced I look, even younger. It does last a long time - though I am not sure whether I would say 24 hr? I think that is perhaps a bit of wishful thinking on Maybelline's part! There are a few shades to choose from including light beige, medium, and a darker one too.
The only negative I have is that in some lighting it does show up if you haven't spent the time rubbing it in properly - because it is so thick and creamy. It isn't something you can do quickly or "blindly."
As I suffer with spots on my chin I use a lot of concealer to hide them and this Maybelline Superstay is the best I've found, and I have tried lots!
The Maybelline Superstay claims to give "natural looking coverage...to conceal imperfections, flaws...for 24hr wear". As it claims the 24hr Superstay doesn't settle into lines of crease either, it seems to be very flexible while maintaining its coverage.
It comes in two shades, Light Beige and Medium Beige. As I am quite I had to go for the light beige as the medium was way to dark. But the light beige is still a little to dark and I would like Maybelline to offer a wider range of shades.
The concealer applies well from the applicator and then you need to blend it in with your fingers. I have had some bad spots and after a little time and patience with this concealer they have been hidden completely. It doesn't easily rub or wear off and I does last all day while not having a drying effect.
The concealer comes in a plastic tube with a tipped applicator fixed to the lid. There tube has white bold text which is pretty easy to read and stands out. The concealer is a nice silky texture, and just he right consistency, not to runny but not thick like others. It is priced at around £6 at Boots and Superdrug, and I think this price is aimed about right for the size and quality of the product. There are other concealers out there for around the same price, but this is the best I have tried so far
The main reason I wanted a concealer was to hide ' dark circles ' under my eyes and the occasional spot. I chose the lighter colour as it suits my skin colour. The sponge wand included is easy to use and means you don't apply too much - in the past I have used stick type concealers and it's tempting to apply too much, which then cakes and settles in the creases around the eyes!
The concealer looks natural on the skin and copes with the odd blemish if applied carefully. The dark shadows under my eyes weren't completely gone but as I am 41 and never found a concealer that could do this I am realistic! A bonus is that it does not upset my sensitive skin which some products do.
The packaging is a bit boring and could probably look a bit smarter as this is not a budget product.
Through my teens I have got through god knows how many different concealers normally, normally choosing the cheaper ones for £3 or £4 I've always been disappointed with them not covering marks or rubbing off instantly or just not being quite the right shade. So this time I thought I would try something a little more expensive and took a chance on this product at £6.19 for concealer I assumed Maybelline Superstay 24hr must be pretty decent.
There were only two shades Light Beige and Medium Beige to choose from, so this product probably won't suit that many peoples skin, but I was lucky that the Light was a perfect match to my skin tone. I tried it out straight away and was impressed by how dry it was unlike many excessively oily ones I've used in the past which seem to just slide off or go into creases, but this is nothing like that because it's not oily and a good thick consistency. The concealer is easy to blend, with excellent coverage that stays in place for ages and actually covers up my dark under eyes, spots and scars without drying out my skin.
In the tube you get quite a lot of product and a soft, fuzzy ended applicator instead of a brush, which is similar to ones in lip gloss, it hasn't gone weird or grotty in the couple month I've had it, I prefer this kind of applicator now but it's not really a big deal.
Maybelline Superstay concealer was a spur of the moment buy that paid off. It's great! Would recommend the product. =)

===Conceal or Reveal?===
The Superstay 24hr Concealer has been designed to give natural, all day coverage without seeping into those little lines on the face. It is a liquid concealer which aims to cover imperfections, flaws and dark, under--eye circles on the face area. The concealer is currently available in 2 colours : Light Beige and Medium Beige.
The liquid concealer comes housed in a long, glass tube. The bottom half of the tube is clear with white writing telling us the name of the product. A white, screw off lid keeps the tube air tight and the concealer fresh. The lid is also the attachment for the application brush. The long wand fits neatly down the tube and at the end, sit's a decent sized brush which will be used for applying the concealer.
A concealer should be chosen to match your skin tone. The best way to determine suitability is by applying a small dab to the inside of the wrist. One which blends in fully is most likely to suit your skin tone.
*Cleanse your face and apply your moisturiser.
*Apply the concealer using the wand or a cotton bud or alternatively, use your fingertips.
*For blemishes and scars, use circular motions to allow the concealer to soak into the skin.
*For under-eye circles, dot on with your finger to gain coverage.
*Apply all other make up.

The 2 shades can be purchased in chemists and online. The tube is 7.5ml and can be open for 6months. Current prices :

My skin is temperamental. Some days, it looks clear and generally clean! Other days, it appears clogged up and with random red bits aka blemishes scattered around. It isn't pretty and I can't seem to prevent them. I can, however, cover them up a bit. In my teens, I used a very cheap Avon Colortrend Concealer Stick so stuck by this method by using the No7 Concealer Stick. My stick was look a tad worn and dry so whilst in Boots in September, I spotted a Maybelline Superstay 24hr Concealer on the reduced shelf at under £2.00 and I snapped it up.
I purchased the light one as my skin is quite pale and I didn't want it appearing too obvious that I had concealer on. The tube is sturdy and the wand/lid is simple to handle. The brush is a good size, if not a bit large for precise applications. The concealer itself is quite thick and adopts a slight, creamy powder aroma. The brush once ejected from the tube, it literally caked in the gloopy concealer and I always feel that I need to scrape a little back into the tube
After I cleanse and moisturise my face, I can get on with applying my makeup. I use this each and every time I wear makeup just to conceal or reduce any niggly imperfections looming on my skin. I gather a tiny blob of concealer onto my brush and very lightly dot around the areas that need it. On first application, I smothered it on believing it would soak into my skin but it doesn't work that way. Only a small amount is needed and an extra layer can then be added for fuller coverage.
The concealer is instantly cooling and quite soothing once it is applied to my skin. It feels quite heavy at first. I feel that using the brush to blend the concealer in makes quite a mess. After dabbing the concealer onto my skin, I gently use my finger tips to blend it in, The instant colour shocked me as it looked cakey and well, a bit silly! I persevered though and got on with it.
I apply this to any light spots and blemishes. I also use a small amount to sweep over the little chin hairs I have been given and it covers them a treat! I need to blend the concealer in quickly after it hits my skin as it settles very quickly, turning from a damp, creamy texture to a slightly dry, powdery feel. I massage it gently and find that one application or layer is more than enough to almost cover the problem area. I wouldn't say it completely covers the blemish or spot but it covers it enough that I don't feel as self conscious about the appearance of my facial skin.
As I said, the concealer drys very quickly and I am able to apply my face powder over the top and my other make up to complete my look. My face powder is a No7 one so I don't believe that you need to use the foundation in the range to get the best from this concealer. My powder swept effortlessly across my face and the areas that the concealer was applied too, didn't put up a fight. The worries I had about the lightness of my skin due to using the concealer. were put to the side as the powder covered this and gave my skin an even tone which I was pleased with. It blended in subtly and the concealer was not visible and neither were my blemishes!
The concealer worked well against my sensitive skin. I am not quite at the stage of wrinkles and excess fine lines, but I do have pores like everyone else and found that the concealer sat on my skin in a light, undetectable layer rather than clogging up my already manky pores! My skin was smooth and silky to the touch but that may have been owing to the powder.
As for 24hour stay well, I cannot confirm this as I remove all my make up using a cleansing wipe before bed or before. The time the concealer was on my skin though, it worked efficiently and my blemishes were still reduced further on in the day so good on that count.
The concealer is a good price and size though I cannot imagine me getting through a tube in 6months as only a tiny spot is needed. I suppose if you were using for under-eye circles, you may use more but I don't seem to have been unlucky enough to have another issue bestowed upon my already, awful skin!
£5.99 isn't a bad price either but I am happy I got it a bit cheaper otherwise I would have probably not had the opportunity to try it. I do prefer my No7 concealer stick though as I feel it gives better coverage but this one is good too.
Maybelline as brand is one I trust and have used in the past. I feel they are affordable and high quality but I was shocked to see they are the worlds No1 brand! Along with this liquid concealer, they also have a mousse and a mineral one so there is something depending on your preference.
