About two months ago I had to return an item to Morrisons but due to not having the receipt I was forced into an exchange rather than a refund, I didn't want to use the cost towards the food shop as this was something I'd bought as a 'treat' so I looked at the (minimal) make-up available in my local store and decided to try a bottle of Maybelline Super Stay 24 foundation.
It's designed for normal skin and has something called 'Micro Flex Formula' to give continuous coverage for up to 24 hours - absolute gubbins.
This foundation is possibly the worst I have ever used, I've persevered with it and tried various tips and tricks to make it work for me but it's absolutely dire and no way will I replace it (or even finish the bottle probably).
It's hard to apply regardless of whether you use a sponge, brush or your fingers and considering it's supposed to be a nude shade it is actually nothing but obvious that you're wearing foundation when you have this on. It doesn't blend well due to the fact it has a really odd consistency and it has the annoying effect of looking reasonably good in my bathroom mirror but as soon as natural light hits my skin the foundation looks patchy and awful.
I've been using foundation for years as I have an uneven skin tone so I'm pretty adept at applying it, this stuff from Maybelline has me baffled however and I just can't seem to use it at all.
Coverage is NO WAY 24 hours, I feel like my foundation is disappearing after just a couple of hours and the way it fades is ridiculous as it kind of goes in patches which eventually leaves me looking like I have some kind of skin condition! It doesn't hide any blemishes as I'd expect a foundation of this nature to and I've found it virtually impossible to find a concealer to use underneath it as the shade of the foundation is so strange - I'd like to say the saving grace of Super Stay 24 is the fact is has SPF19 built into the formulation, but frankly I'd be disinclined to believe such a claim as every other claim made on the bottle has been absolute rubbish!
To be fair, at £6.99 (30ml) this is a pretty cheap foundation - coming from a brand like Maybelline however I would expect it to do a decent job, sadly it doesn't.
I surprisinglу reаllу liked this PRODUCT. i originаllу onlу bought this аs а bаckup/touchup foundation for mу purse (i wouldve liked to bring the mаc prolongweаr foundation, but its pаckаging wаs а bit аnnoуing) аnd it аctuаllу worked reаllу well.
it looks а bit cаkeу but for me mу biggest problem with fаce mаkeup is stауing power аnd this stауed prettу dаmn well. i put this on with no primer or powder one dау becаuse i wаs in а rush аnd i did mу mаkeup on the bus аnd bу the end of the dау, if wаs still there! it wаs kind of pаtchу looking bу thаt time but it wаs still there! i would definitelу recommend this to аnуone with the problem of mаkeup not stауing, but this is definitelу not for аnуone with drу skin. the coverаge wаs quite good, better thаn the prolongweаr аt first but lауering this foundation is а huge no no where аs prolongweаr cаn be built upon аnd still look quite nаturаl. The pаckаging isn't verу hуgienic but it's one of the clаssic foundation pаckаgings so I guess it's аcceptаble. i got this аt а drugstore for аround GBP8 becаuse it wаs onsаle but i think it generаllу goes from GBP7-12 depending where аnd when уou get it.
overаll, this is prettу аmаzing for а drugstore foundation.
I've been using it more lаtelу аnd I'm liking it more аs I do, the coverаge cаn be built upon аnd look nаturаl if u build in verу thin lауers, so in other words, it cаn be just аs good аs pro long weаr if u spend time to mаke it look good. Both for under eуes аnd аcne/аcne scаrs. Аlthough ultimаtelу pro long weаr remаins mу HG for the color mаtch, pаckаging, longevitу, аnd consistencу аll trump the superstау.
I bought this foundation as I was drawn in by the 24 hour length it advertises but I was sadly disappointed when I went to use it.
The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a white pump on the top and clear plastic lid. The brand name and product information can be found around the bottle in pink, black and silver writing. The liquid foundation is a quite nice consistency not too thick and not too runny, so it quite easy to apply.
I squirt two and a bit squirts of foundation onto my hand and dip my brush into the foundation. I have found a brush works best for this foundation as it needs quite a bit of blending to make it look even, I once used my fingers to spread it around my face but it left orange streaks looking very un-natural. I draw five lines on my face; one on my forehead, one on each cheek, one down the bridge of my nose and one on my chin. I find using this amount of foundation works best for creating a natural look as this amount spreads perfectly any more you run the risk of looking furry. I use my brush and blend the foundation round my face in circular motions. The foundation goes on quite smoothly and blends quite well, it does take some time though as it needs to be really spread out the get a flawless finish.
I found this foundation did leave a nice finish, it was very smooth and has good coverage, but it is the 24 hour length I have a problem with, it did not even last half the length of time. I check my foundation a couple of hours later and it had turned orange and patchy, I was not impressed out all. I had to take it off and re-apply it as I refused to walk around looking orange. I was very disappointed as I was hoping to find a foundation that last a very long period of time.
Overall I would not recommend this foundation, yes it goes on nicely and looks nice straight after application, but no one has the time to be re-applying their whole make up every few hours, after all it is not like lipstick where you can just re do that section, your whole face will need to be done. I was very disappointed and will not be buying this foundation again, as it certainly was not worth the £9.97 price tag.
I love make up and this is best foundation I have found to date. Its not an expensive range as I find so many really expensive ranges are a waste of money and simply contain quite volatile ingredients which are not environmentally freindly and many are tested on animals. However this foundation is thick enough to rest on the face all day but thin enough to glide on easily and not looked caked in any form.
I love the fact that this foundation lasts all day and actually covers and conceals across the face and glides any blemishes and is a good dermatological foundation so doesnt irritate the skin in any shape or form.
At a price of approx £10 you cant beat this foundation for cove and cost and longevity.
Only a tiny amount is needed to cover the whole face and therefore its worth of money is brilliant as well as you get your moneys worth and it is still a cheap price.
Available in most supermarkets and all good chemist stores.
After my huge disappointment with Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid I was on the hunt for a new foundation. Having previously used Maybelline's Dream Matt Mousse and Dream AirWhipped Mousse I was still a fan of the range and tried not to let the Satin Liquid spoil my love for Maybelline. Apart from the Satin Liquid I had always been a huge fan or Maybelline and use their products for all my basic makeup needs. I had tried other brands for my foundation, mascara and concealer but none seemed to come close so when heading to my local Boots store I ended up in front of the Maybelline section as usual.
I very nearly returned to my old faithful the Dream Matt Mousse, but was distracted by an offer Boots had on - 2 selected Maybelline products for £10. This included the Superstay 24Hr Foundation which itself was priced at £9.19 so I figured it was worth a try, plus I needed a new Mascara anyway so the deal really made it worth while.
The Maybelline Super Sat 24HR Foundation comes in a small plastic bottle. The bottle is quite short and wide with a pump action nozzle on the top underneath a clear lid. The design of the bottle is simple but attractive and in Black and red writing explains the product and usage. For £9.19 the bottle is a good size and I can confirm that the bottle will last you month so is great value for money.
The foundation itself comes in 8 varying shades Light Beige, Ivory, Cameo, Nude, Sand, Fawn, Sun Beige & Cocoa. I think these shades cover a good range of tones that will suit most skin tones. The foundation is a thin consistency and dispenses easily from the nozzle when depressed. The liquid, although thin and light is rich in pigment. Maybelline advise that the best way to apply if to smooth over your face and blend with your fingertips. I have always been a foundation brush girl if I'm honest and tried a few times to apply as usual with my brush, but I would advise to follow Maybelline's advice and use your fingers. It seems to warm up the foundation making it a joy to apply and giving a lovely look.
The foundation, when applied with your fingers spread evenly and smoothly over your skin and blends perfectly. As it is a light liquid it feels airy on your skin and you don't feel worn down with it and is is also oil free meaning it doesn't clog up your pores. It gives a good natural coverage while still covering up some perfections meaning less concealor was needed on my spots - Bonus! The product give a natural dewy look to your skin. Maybelline state that the Superstay 24Hr will stay "comfortable and looks naturally flawless all day" and I can agree with this wholeheartedly. The foundation stayed perfect for the whole working day and didn't really need any touching up even for a night out afterwards.
Maybelline claim this to be due to the Micro-Flex formula which holds the foundation perfectly and withstands most sweat, heat, touch and humidity. This claim does hold up when I use the product as I am constantly one for touching my face etc, and the foundation does really seem to hold fast. I was very impressed with this as with most other foundations, the coverage has either worn off or become patchy by the end of the day.
In addition to all these good points the Superstay 24HR also has inbuilt SPF of 19. I loved this as I am keep to protect my skin and use an SPF, or combined cream and SPF every day. The fact that it wasn't just the standard SPF 15 made it a great choice.
I have been using the Maybelline Superstay 24HR now for around 6 weeks and truly love it. Just what I want - a light airy foundation that doesn't clog up your pores or wear off throughout the day, plus with the added benefits of SPF19 and an oil free formula, it really is perfect for me. I have used the foundation every day for the last 6 weeks and it isn't even a quarter gone! Amazing!
I am a fan of the Maybelline make up range. I find it fairly inexpensive and good value for money but also very good quality too. I have used their Great lash mascara on and off for a number of years now, mainly because I like the pink and green colours on the tube and one of their products that I have been using recently is their Superstay 24 hour make up.
This make up is a foundation and as the name suggests is a coverage that is said to last for 24 hours and will leave your skin looking flawless and glowing all day. Now, I don't know about you but I never really stay up for 24 hours in one day and so don't really need my make up to last that long but to know that it will last this long means it will probably look nice for the whole day I am wearing it, morning to night. I never really like to reapply my makeup. I am not the type of person who will carry around foundation, powder, etc and I only really top up my lipstick/gloss during the day so this foundation really appealed to me that I could apply it in the morning and it will last all day.
Maybelline say that this SuperStay 24HR Makeup stays comfortable and looks naturally flawless all day. It has a Micro-Flex formula which provides 24-hour wear and their no transfer technology withstands heat, sweat and humidity. The make up comes in a nice looking bottle with a pump action nozzle at the top. I like this packaging as I find it really easy to just squeeze out a little bit of foundation and not have to worry that lots will come out at one time as I only really wear a little bit of foundation. Then I can use the smooth bit of the pump to put the excess foundation on and use this part to rub my finger over and then apply it to my skin.
The foundation is nice and creamy and goes onto my skin really well. I find that it blends in quite easily although this is probably due to the fact that I purchased a colour quite close to my own colouring so I would just achieve a nice even coverage on my face. The foundation did not become cracked or anything like that and its almost like it adds a second skin to my face. I never end up with spots after using this foundation so I think its quite gentle to my skin and i like the fact that it is oil free too so this definitely helps with the health of the skin on my face. I can apply this in the morning and I never need to touch up so I would definitely agree with their Superstay name.
This make up is reasonably priced at just over £9 for 30ml which will last a very long time the way I use it so sparingly and is a foundation I recommend.
This is a good mid market foundation.
The foundation is of a medium to thick consistency and effectively covers spots, red marks and blemishes.
Surprisingly the foundation manages to be easy to apply and give very good coverage at the same time. I have found in the past the best coverage foundations can take some time to apply to skin and will need primer before application. But when I applied this to my skin it was easily absorbed and easily spread. It looked very natural on skin and didn't create any orange lines around the neck/forehead which I have had in the past!
The foundation has a slightly cosmetic smell which I liked but I know some people hate any products with fragrance.
The foundation does last but I would say more like for 4 hours rather than 24
At £10 it is affordable for a good foundation.
There are a wide range of colours and you should be able to find one to match your skin tone.
As above it doesn't last 24 hours! I get soo frustrated with manufacturers who come out with ridiculous claims . Why bother advertising it as a 24 hour product if this is not the truth (take note deodorant companies)
Due to the thickness of the product it occasionally made my skin feel a bit greasy (but I would be prone to this as I have oily skin.)
For years I have been trying to find the right foundation for my skin, due to its pale color and lack of products that don't leave foundation lines!! Then a friend recommended I try this Maybelline product and at a hefty price of £10.00 from Boots, I almost didn't purchase. Although the product is fairly expensive its in same range as other products and has benefitted me more so than any other purchase. I purchased the light beige foundation and applied it, uncovering some amazing results, there were no lines, no patchiness, and the make-up blended in perfectly with my skin tone. The product has such a natural effect, it genuinely does everything it says in its title, it stays on your face for a lengthy amount of time. Even on nights out when its hot and your dancing, drinking, I did not reapply my make-up once, the results almost lie for you and I'm sure in ten/twenty years time I will still be using it. Its definitely a keeper and although its expensive for a bit of make-up... what brand isn't today.
I first bought this foundation about 3 years ago and although I have tried similarly priced brands I always come back to this.
Firstly I feel it may be useful to explain my skin and routine. My skin is normal, not dry or oily and I use face masks and clense and tone regularly. I take my make up off most nights, i'm only human I sometimes forget. I dont get spots very often and my skin isnt overly blemished. I use foundation to give my skin an even tone. I dont like the overly "made up" look, I look natural although I put on a full face of make up every day.
This foundation gives me an even, soft and glowing look. It doesnt look heavy, gives me the coverage I need even if I have a break out. For day or night it gives my skin a healthy look I want. It looks great in photographs and in real life.
It is easy to apply, I use my fingers and it goes on so well I dont feel the need to use a sponge or a brush. This is the one product I couldnt live without.
I usually buy this online where it is around £5 online, although it retails for around £10 in major beauty stores like Boots or Superdrug.
I find that the summer months are the ones that really put your foundation to the test. When you get hot during the day it is really easy for foundation to melt off as your skin sweats more (well mine does anyway). Therefore I thought for summer it would be a good idea to try a new foundation some foundations I find don't stay on very well in the winter so there is no hope for summer. I came across this Super Stay 24h foundation on my local market which claimed to be non transfer 24hr make-up and thought it was worth giving ago.
The foundation cost me £6 in Boots and Superdrug it is around the £9.50 mark and it is available in round 8-9 different skin tones so you should be able to find one to match your own. I choose to have 010 ivory as my skin is quite pale at the moment. The foundation comes in a glass bottle which contains 30ml of liquid foundation. The bottle has a plastic lid and has a pump action top to release the foundation. I find pump action foundations are good when the bottle is full as they are less messy when you get the foundation out however I do find they can be annoying when the foundation is running low and it can be tricky to get the foundation up the pump.
SuperStay 24HR Makeup claims that it will stay comfortable and looks naturally flawless all day the foundation I apply with my fingers as I find it is the best way to blend foundation in for me. Applying is easy and the foundation does seem to go onto my skin well where my skin is not dry. However in patches where my skin seems to be a little drier for me this is round my eyebrows the foundation clogs a little on the dry patches so I do hve to be careful when applying to rub it all in smoothly. The foundation also has Micro-Flex formula which is suppost to make it 24hr wear and able to withstnd heat and humidity.I would say that this is quite accurate the foundation does stay on well and although I do not make a habit of going to sleep with my make up on I have on occasion fell sleep with this on and in the morning have woken to findthat it still looks ok and has not transferred onto my pillow.
I would give this foundation 5 stars especially at the price I paid for it.
A few other things you may find useful the foundation is dermatogolist tested, fragrance-free, suitable for all skin types and is SPF 19 so is protecting your skin as well as giving gret coverage.
My review is not so much an opinion on the said product here as I have not yet tried it but, its hard to describe the difference I feel when wearing the latest maybelline foundations, particularly the dream and new liquid dream product foundations. They feel great on application, leave your skin feeling and looking absolutely flawlwess. No one ever knows if im wearing foundation or not. As i dont wear make up every single day due to my job, every time i wear this foundation i get comments like 'your looking really healthy' or 'your skin looks good' 'Are you using a new moisturiser?cleanser blah blah blah but anyway, its great. cya
After trailing around trying numerous foundations will big hopes i ended up with dissapoitment. I bought this on a whimm expecting the same from previous foundations..but i found it. A small amount covers alot and the colouring lasts all day without the need for topping it up after walking past a mirror.I can put it on about 9 in the moring go to college,go to the gym and its still the same colour as in the morning.
It covers my spots, blemishes brilliant and dosnt leave a dewy look it even washes off brilliant without the need for scrubbing like most other foundations.
The bottle is quite big for its price, and with it being maybelline you would expect being expensive but it was cheap.ive had it for over a week now and i use it everyday and still got loads left. I would recommend this to anyone whos looking for a stay put foundation
I firstly personally think that this makeup is at a very good price compared to alot of the retail products.
However, when I came to test out this makeup in one of the high street shops (Boots), I found that nearlly all of the colours of the foundation were nothing like the colours compared to other foundations. I thought this foundation would be really useful to me as I wanted a foundation that would last all day and I wouldn't keep having to top it up all day long. The usually colour that I would usually use for my skin was no way near the correct colour. It looked very orange and it didnt sink in very well with my skin. In fact, nearlly all of the colours that they had in that foundation looked a bit orange. That is what lead me to stay right away from this foundation!
If you have read any of my other reviews, you have probably noticed I'm an absolute cosmetic junkie. Make up is my biggest downfall when it comes to spending money as if I see something I cannot help myself but to try it and then more than likely buy it!
**WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?**
This is one of many foundations in the Maybelline collection which in the most part, has a reputation of being a high quality brand producing really good and innovative products. This claims to be no exception. Judging from its name, you can immediately tell its purpose is - to remain on the skin for 24 hours. Maybelline claims that it 'stays comfortable and looks naturally flawless'. It is also supposed to withstand heat, humidity and sweat. So, initially it sounds great, right? It has an all day Micro-Flex formula which supposedly provides 24 hour wear and it is suitable for all skin types. Perfect!
** HOW MUCH IS IT AND WHERE CAN I BUY IT?**
You can find this product in Superdrug and Boots just to name a few places. It can be found on the Maybelline website amongst a vast array of other cosmetic sites. Prices vary, and for the cheaper end prices it is probably better to explore sites like eBay as you may get a bargain. However in high street stores like Boots for example it is currently being stocked at £9.19, putting 36 points on your advantage card if you have one! You may find in Boots from time to time there is an offer on Maybelline products, such as 3 for 2 or something similar which is currently on Rimmel products, so effectively you may be able to get this for free on a 3 for 2, fab! But even at £9.19 the price isn't a disaster in comparison to other high street and premium branded products. I often find that more expensive products last a while longer too which justifies spending a little more. It comes in a variety of colours to suit most skin tones, and I chose Light Beige as it seemed to suit my skin tone the best.
** WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE, HOW DOES IT FEEL AND SMELL?**
In terms of aesthetics, this product is fantastic. It comes in a clear, glass like bottle making it easy to see the colour of the product and how much you have left to avoid you totally running out before purchasing a new one! It has hot pink, white and silver writing on the front expressing the name and claims of the product so it isn't difficult to pick out amongst the other foundations. It uses a pump mechanism to release the product which is useful as it should reduce wasting any product which can easily happen with a squeazy tube if it all leaks out. With a pump you can get out exactly the right amount you want to put on. I usually use a small blob about the size of a malteser/20 pence piece, just to give you a rough idea. The consistency of the product is quite creamy and runny so it blends easily as its not too thick. However it does have a slightly cheap, plastic sort of smell to it, unless thats just my sense of smell? Its not perfumed and doesn't smell overly pleasant, but it isn't awful either - just average.
** HOW SHOULD I APPLY IT?**
I tend to get dry areas on my face so before I apply my foundation in my mornings I moisturise and let my skin absorb it before putting my make up on. I find this also helps to give better coverage too and having dry patches can sometimes make you look a little odd. Next I apply a small amount (malteser size) onto the back of my hand and use a foundation brush to apply and blend onto my face. I have also used this product with my fingers and it still applies well but for me a foundation brush gives a more even overall appearance and ensures it is all blended in properly. After applying the foundation I noticed that it felt quite sticky on my face almost as if it was just sitting on top of my skin and it gave a wet sort of feel and shine which I haven't experienced with another foundation before. The coverage isn't brilliant either, giving quite a natural glow but it didn't really cover up any blemishes or redness effectively which was disappointing. To reduce the sticky, wet feel I applied some powder over the top which seemed to help.
** DID IT STAND THE TEST OF TIME?**
I applied the foundation as early as possible in the day to try and gain an accurate perspective as to whether it really would last 24 hours. I didn't keep it on for the full 24 hours but I had it on for a good 12/13 hours which gave me an idea about whether it actually works or not. Unfortunately, in answer to the above question, no it didn't stand the test of time. As mentioned earlier, on application my skin felt sticky so I applied powder but as the day progressed it almost seemed like the effects of the powder disappeared and the foundation became sticky again. I think the reasoning behind this is that the product is quite a runny constituency and the fact it applies and blends so easily could possibly be due to it being quite greasy and I also have greasy areas on my face which wouldn't have helped either so this doesn't support their claim of it being suitable for all skin types - I would definitely say it would suit drier skinned people better. My skin felt very greasy the whole time I was wearing it and in places it had rubbed off my skin and broken up, giving an odd looking complexion which was something I really wasn't looking to achieve! I have used a couple of times since my initial use and have had the same experience each time so I have now put it to the bak of the drawer. Because of this I can't comment on how long the product will or wont last as of course it all depends on how much you apply but in the 3 uses I had it still looks brand new like it hasn't been used at all.
Overall I am really disappointed with this foundation as I was really impressed initially about the packaging and the way it applies and blends into your skin so effortlessly. The coverage is where is began to go downhill though as it didn't give the result I was looking for. It was far too greasy for my already 'oily in places' skin type, and so may be better suited to dry skin that can counteract the greasiness of the product. In terms of durability it isn't great either and it certainly doesn't live up the its name of lasting 24 hours, a real shame. Because of this I am only giving it 2 Dooyoo stars as it really does not do what it promises.
So this was on offer in boots and as I cannot resist an offer I picked one up. The other morning I put it on to see if it did last 24hrs as I was quite sure that foundations cannot last that long so was kind of sceptical.
What They Say
Our new foundation stays flawless.
Beyond any stretch of the imagination.
- It moves flexibly with your skin
- It stays flawless all day
- It resists heat, humidity, sweat, transfer, touch, LIFE!
Our Flex technology stretches and flexes with your skin. Stays looking flawless and feels light all day.
It's the do-it-all through-it-all 24-hour makeup.
What I say
I wouldn't say that a foundation has ever made me feel uncomfortable but I guess it is quite comfortable. They also say it is perfect for all skin types but that isn't really the case with me.I used this all over my face and I feel it does withstand the first few hours of wear wonderfully, it's a good finish, it's great coverage, and I like the way it looks. However if you put it on in the morning and your wearing it into the evening and if you have combination skin like mine it gets a bit oily in the evening and you can see the oil. I also had a slight breakout on my forehead.
Would I recommend ?
I would recommend to people with normal or dry skin but if you have oily / combination skin I'd find another foundation because it may make your oil worse. It does stay but it look worse when you have it on for longer.
Why you'll love it / Look naturally flawless all day / Micro-Flex formula provides up to 24-hour wear and is transfer resistant / Withstands heat, sweat, transfer and touch / Oil-free, fragrance-free, tested under dermatological control / Suitable for all skin types.
