I've never stuck to the same mascara, in fact, I'm not sure I've ever bought the same one twice. After spending too many hours of my life watching beauty gurus on Youtube, I realised that this was a popular one amongst, so I decided to give it a try. At £7.99 I find that to be a reasonable price for a mascara and you'll probably be able to find some sort of promotional offer in larger drugstores. As far as I know, it comes in one shade which is 'Black Drama'. Application of the mascara is a dream. The bent applicator, not unsimilar to the shape of your eyelash, makes it easy to cover the entire lash. In the past, I've found that these types of bent applicators are a bit faffy and difficult to use, but the wand is still fairly thick and does a good job at coating the lashes. The mascara is buildable without looking like a spider is lurking on your eyeball, but one or two coats is fine for a natural look also. The over all finish is lovely. My lashes look bolder, thicker and seem to fan out when I use this. Although it doesn't claim to be waterproof, it holds up pretty well in the rain- small bits of water won't harm. The only complaint I do have about the result is that if I look down for a long period of time (e.g. when I'm reading), there is a small, faint print of black where the mascara on my lower lash has been resting on my face. This could, however, could be due to my oily skin causing the mascara to come away. Otherwise, it's a good mascara at a reasonable price that gives dramatic-looking lashes that last all day.
There are some things I can skip in my morning make up routine, and mascara is not one of them. Not just any mascara will do, and I've been through dozens of different brands to find the right one for me. A quick checklist of things my mascara needs to offer me: - long lasting: I can't stand dark mascara ending up under my eyes by the end of the day. Long lasting is a MUST for me, because it's hard to get rid of these mascara shadows while your out and about! -NO FLAKES -Volume and Length! -Affordable This mascara covers all the bases! Though I've seen my lashes look longer, if you're looking for a mascara that gives you great volume, and stays all day while not breaking the bank, this is what you are looking for! I've have officially ended my extensive search for a good mascara, and can comfortably say this one will be in my make up bag for some time to come!
Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama Mascara I LOVE mascara, I couldn't live without it and since I'm literally hopeless at applying false lashes I figured this would be the next best thing and let me start by saying I wasn't disappointed. The commonly used 'you get what you pay for' phrase in my opinion is not true when it comes to mascara. I've tried a lot of mascara's from the high-end to the high street or drug store brands and this is definately in my top five! THE CLAIMS: A new formula with extra long fibres and carbon black pigments, creates a false look of black lashes which look longer and thicker. A patented Spoon Brush fans out lashes and ensures generous product deposit. The unique flexible stem helps build volume without clumping. Result: Instant false lash volume goes extra matte and extremely black. Extremely black lashes corner to corner. No Clumps. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. MY EXPERIENCE: The falsies mascara comes in a few different types. I went for the non-waterproof, black drama one. I chose this one because I don't like waterproof mascara, I find I lose half my lashes when removing it and for me it's not necessary. I chose black drama because I always like to have dramatic lashes and I like them to be super black! (Self-explanatory really!) The mascara definately creates long thick lashes, it's the perfect consistancy, not so thin you get those skinny spider lashes and not so thick that your lashes stick together causing one giant lash! Perfect! I don't find my eyes particularly sensitive and I don't wear lenses or anything but for those of you who do it's great that it should work for you to! I think what makes this mascara work so well is the shape of the wand. It's a kind of spoon shape which frames both the upper and lower lashes perfectly, allowing you to get nice and close into both the inner and outer corners. It lasts all days and doesn't flake off, there's nothing worse than applying your mascara thinking it looks great then looking in the mirror halfway through the day to see it's all under your eyes. HOW TO USE: Hold brush with spoon side upwards against lashes and sweep from root to tip. Repeat until desired look is achieved. Do not let dry between coats. THE PACKAGING: I love the packaging of this mascara, it's a brightly coloured purply-pink tube with black writing and a black lacey pattern on the lid, very eye-catching! VALUE FOR MONEY: It's £7.99 for a 9ml tube. A wonderful product for just £7.99! It's worth every penny!. If I had a small gripe it would be that I don't feel the product lasts as long as other mascara's I've used, however this product is so good I'm willing to overlook that and will repurchase this time and time again!
When my old mascara ran out, I decided to try a new product; there was nothing wrong with my old mascara, I just fancied a change. I only chose this particular product because I was buying other products in the Maybelline range, and it was all on 3 for 2 on that day in my local Boots store. Normally, the mascara costs £8.19, but can sometimes be found on offers like 3 for 2 in Boots, other cosmetic stores or supermarkets. The mascara is sold in an 8.2ml tube, which is pink and has a lace black design around the top. The tube has black writing on it, which says that the mascara creates the 'blackest false lash glam look'. The back of the tube also states other information like the where the mascara is made (Italy), how long it lasts for (6 months) and that you can recycle the tube after use. The mascara is 'blackest black', so I'm assuming this product makes lashes appear blacker than other Maybelline mascaras, although I have not noticed it to be much blacker than products I have previously used. The flexible mascara wand is long and thin with a curved brush, which has lots of long bristles, which lengthen lashes. The curve ended brush distributes the mascara equally along the lashes, and gets rid of clumps, whilst also lengthening lashes. Because of the shape of the brush, you are able to apply mascara right across your lashes in just one sweep, which makes application easy and quick. I usually use 4-5 layers of the mascara for heavier lashes at nightime, but 2-3 during the day for a lighter feel. The actual mascara is thick and after application lashes look longer, blacker, thicker and more volumised. As stated by Maybelline, the mascara gives a 'black drama' effect to your lashes, and therefore I would recommend it for nightime/party use especially, but it can also be suitable for daytime use with fewer layers. In conclusion, I love this mascara because of the look it gives to lashes; it is one of the best mascaras I have ever used, highly recommended. 5 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading. This mascara is very much like the Maybelline Colossal Mascara which I have also reviewed on here. The tube is bright purple (fuschia?) which I prefer as this is my favourite colour and it stands out without looking hazardous yellow colour like the Colossal one. The only other difference is that the rubbery brush inside is curved. It is very easy to use, although a bit hard to castch the small outer lashes sometimes, it coats eyelashes well making them thick and dark. Because of the curled brush it also curls and lengthens the lashes as the shape encourages you to push the brush up more making your looks wider and bigger! I prefer the end results much more than the original colossal mascara, it helps achieve that false look effect even more so which you'd expect with the name 'falsies.' You also don't need very many coats to create a dramatic look either, I wouldn't recommend this mascara if you prefer a natural look because it just can't be done with this haha. If you have read my other Maybelline Mascara review you'll know I had difficulty removing the Colossal one as I really had to scrub to remove all traces of that it, but with the Falsies one I just needed a soft baby wipe even though it's waterproof. I'm currently not using this mascara as I can afford more expensive and longer lasting mascaras however next year I will be a full time poor poor student and be returning to this trusty falsies mascara. The price is very fair as it is such a decent mascara, I often see it on offer for only £5 somewhere too instead of it's usual £8.
I have been fairly loyal to Maybelline when it comes to buying mascara for several years now - I think it stems from buying the classic Great Lash mascara when I was still at school. I do like their Colossal mascara best but last time I was buying a new mascara I tried the Cat Eyes version, which I really didn't like. This time, I decided to try this; my main motivation being a) I could review it, and b) the colour available was Blackest Black. I do like black/smokey eye make-up, so as far as I am concerned, the darker the better. PACKAGING This mascara comes in a plastic tube which is coloured a vivid pinkish purple. The design on it is black lace. It's something that looks good in your make-up bag, and really stands out. BRUSH/WAND The wand of this mascara is quite short, which I much prefer to longer wands. I feel that I have more control when the wand is shorter. The brush is described by Maybelline as a 'spoon brush' - it is slightly curved and quite bushy/bristly. The packaging says that the brush has extra long fibres, and indeed the brush does seem larger than any other mascara I have ever used. I really like when brushes are bristly as I feel it is much easier to get a full coating of mascara on the lashes. APPLICATION AND LOOK Thanks to the bristly nature of the brush, this was very easy to apply quickly. One stroke over your lashes covered them instantly, as opposed to some mascaras which you have to keep applying for it to transfer itself to your eyelashes. I applied 2 coats, and the mascara did not clump or look spidery. I did think that my lashes looked fuller and more 'flicky' at the sides, and they definitely appeared longer and thicker. Did I look like I was wearing fake eyelashes? Well - no... but then, does anyone really believe that make up is actually going to do what the company claims? I was happy enough with the volume created as I was under no illusion that I would suddenly appear to be wearing fake eyelashes. Having said that, I think using this mascara is probably about as close to getting a fake eyelash look as you are going to get. Obviously the look of your eyelashes will be even fuller if you curl them before application and add several coats, but I was really happy with the effect even without doing this. DURABILITY I found that this mascara was very long lasting. For example, I applied this today at around 7.30am, then worked a full 8 hour day. Afterwards, I took my dog for a walk and we got caught in a heavy rainshower. The mascara has not shifted or ended up halfway down my face. In fact if I rub my eye gently hardly any mascara is transferred to my fingers. It has gotten a little clumped but after 10 hours I think that is very forgiveable! PRICE This costs about £7.19 which I personally find expensive, but that seems to be a fairly standard price for mascara from large brand names these days. I do have to grit my teeth when it comes to spending almost a tenner on mascara, but I suppose I can't complain as I did like this product, and therefore it was not a waste of money. WOULD I BUY THIS AGAIN? I would definitely buy this again. I think it is one of the better mascaras Maybelline has brought out. In fact I think it just pips my usual favourite Colossal mascara.
I have only ever worn false lashes twice, one at my wedding and another time at a party. I loved how they made my eyes 'pop'! In need of new mascara, I wondered into Tesco's cosmetic department. There are so many different types I was spoilt for choice! I opted for Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama Mascara because I was attracted to lovely design. The mascara tube is pinky purple in colour, with a beautiful lace effect surrounding the lid. The name of the mascara is displayed clearly visible in bold black font on the front of the tube. On the back of the packaging there is text stating 'Use spoon brush with this side against lashes' pointing with an arrow towards an illustration of the mascara wand. Underneath it also states that the product contains concentrated black fibre formula. When leaving my house, I will always make sure to put mascara on. My eyes look incomplete without a thin line of eyeliner and my lashes accentuated with a nice dark mascara. I brought the maybelline mascara with the intention to use it on special occasions or if I want that more made up effect, rather than for everyday use. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with this product. However, it did make my eyelashes appear darker and longer. From a distance the product looks great. The downside is that I found the mascara very thick and clumpy, making my eyelashes stick together even when I had made sure to wipe the excess mascara off of the wand. I found that straight after applying to my lashes, I would end up with black smudges above my eyelids from blinking, even with only a thin coating. To reduce the stuck together appearance, I used a lash comb to help seperate the lashes. Another good point about this product, is that your lashes stay coated for a long time. I purchased this product from Tesco's for £8.19. This product is available in most stores with a cosmetic section such as Boots, Superdrug, Savers etc. I wouldn't recommend this product... there must be better mascaras out there!
I used to wear false eyelashes daily, as I could never quite find a mascara which did enough for my lashes. However this is an expensive habit, so when I noticed false lash mascaras come on the scene I decided to give them a try as they may well provide the intense lash look I was after. I must say that after trying the original Rimmel false lash mascara I was unconvinced; while it was all round a reasonable mascara it didn't pump them up quite enough for me! However a few months ago I noticed the introduction of the intense black mascara and decided to test it out. I was literally amazed by the size of my lashes!! It seemed to enhance them without clumping or smudging and framed my eyes perfectly. This mascara is by far the best I've ever used, and as an off the shelf mascara it is amazing value! Snap it up while you can!
I thought I had found my ideal mascara when I first bought Max Factor False Lash Mascara, and there is no doubt I still think it is one of the best high street branded mascara around that I have ever tried. However, recently I was needing to buy a new mascara as well as some blusher which I always get from the Maybelline brand, and when I saw that there was a 3 for 2 offer on the maybelline products in Boots, I decided to try a mascara from their range whilst the offer was on. The mascara that I selected was this Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama Volume Express Mascara which costs just over £8, which is pricey enough for a mascara, but not so bad when you are getting a 3 for 2 deal. I had previously tried the basic maybelline mascara years ago and liked it, but it didn't do anything in terms of volume that everyone want for their lashes. This mascara is part of the volume express range in Maybelline, and actually comes with a spoon brush to help you apply it to your lashes to plump them up. At the beginning, I was slightly unsure the best way to apply it, as the spoon brush is so light and flexible, compared to the tips of other mascaras, but I soon got the hang of it, and actually find that the shape of the brush really scoops up all the lashes making sure they are all coated with the mascara. This mascars comes in 'blackest black' and even though my lashes are already dark, there is a noticeable difference in darkness after applying this product. Anyone with fair lashes will really notice the effect. On the front of the packaging, maybelline claim that this product produces no clumps on the lashes, which I would have to agree with, as so far, after several weeks of use, I have had no such issues, as well as making sure the mascara is effective from corner to corner, and again the shape of the brush really helps you coat every lash. It claims to give you that 'false lash' volume effect, since it includes extra long fibres and carbon black pigments, in order to make lashes look thicker and longer. The mascara tube itself is quite pretty in a deep pink colour, with a black lace effect around the lid. I have been using this mascara for several weeks now, and I have been very impressed with it. As I said at the beginning, I thought finding a high street branded mascara that would give my lashes the volume that the max factor false lash does would be difficult, but I have to say that this product is equally good. I have had no problem with clumping on the lashes at all, once I got used to the flexible and bendy spoon brush I feel that it coats all my lashes well from corner to corner as it claims, and certainly plumps up the volume, which lasts the entire day. I find that I only have to coat my lashes the once as well to acheive this volumed look, although my lashes are already quite long, so this may help. It certainly helps to open up the eyes, and the blackest black colour is an added touch, especially ideal if yo uare going out in the evening, but I often use this product during the day as well, and I don't think it looks out of place. I would certainly say that this mascara creates an illusion of wearing false lashes, since it does make your lashes look longer and plumped up all day. As long as you use an appropriate make up remover product then there is also no problem removing this product at night, despite its darkness. All in all, I think this is a great product to rival Max Factor!
I like to mix and match between maxfactor and maybelline mascara as they are both by far the best brands for mascara. Everytime each of them brings out a new mascara i give it a go so have quite a good varied knowledge on these products! My friend recommended me to buy this mascara as my recent one was running dry, so i did. She had told me how amazing it was and how she never wants to buy any other one. I thought blimey ok this sounds like it must be good. REALLY DISAPPOINTED! when i first tried it, putting on my makeup before work, i obviously used it as any other person would and took my time so i could get the best result! I have quite long thick eyelashes and i have never thought that a mascara could make them look thinner and shorter but this one did! The brush for on is a 'brush' brush and so the brush its self gets clogged together as soon as you pull it out of the pot! all the mascara makes the brush simply become uneven and gloopy! Im used to using a rubber brush in my mascara (which obviously is not able to get clogged up) and going back to the 'hairy' style stick made me realise there are so many better models out there. If you have long eyes lashes already dont buy this product as it does not have the desired effect! It made all my eye lashes clump together and did not volumise my lashes... it made them look finer and thinner.... probably because they were not seperated! Also it does take an age to remove the mascara at the end of the night for some reason. Much longer than any other maybelline mascaras i have used in the past! I always find black smudges under my eyes in the morning even after scrubbing it off the night before. Quite annoyed as i have just bought this product and tried it out for the last few days to give it the benefit of the doubt but it has not improoved and i cannot get used to the clumpiness! I am going out to buy the previous maybelline mascara i had before this which ws the one in the red tube, its called 'volume express'! AMAZING stuff! Give that one a try first as i promise you, you will not be disappointed :-)
This mascara is perfect if you like your lashes long, curled and thick. It really does create a false lash effect. The applicator is curved to help apply the mascara more evenly and to curl the lashes as you apply. The mascara itself doesn't clump, nor does it flake off, and it lasts all day. It does come off easily when using a makeup wipe - which is always a positive. This has been the best mascara I have ever bought and I highly recommend it. It is priced reasonably, making it a very good purchase.
For a couple of years now, I have been sold on Maybelline mascaras. The one I previously used was the XXL but I thought it was about time to try something new and different, one without the white mascara. I had been wondering whether it really was the white mascara which was making my eyes look great or was it just Maybelline mascara in general. The mascara I ended up buying was the Maybelline 'the falsies volum' express' in black drama. == Price and Packaging == I hadn't actually planned to buy this product on the day that I did but when I was shopping in Superdrug, it was on offer at the tills for £5.99 instead of the RRP of £8.99 The product packaging was more what caught my eye than the amazing price though. This mascara comes in a bright pink tube which is as bold as they come. Along the lid is printed black lace which matches the black text on the bottom of the mascara and is a nice contrast compared to the bright pink. I loved the intense packaging and think more mascaras would tempt me if they looked like this. == The Brush and Application == The brush is extremely soft with a slight curve in the middle. I love these kinds of brushes for mascara as I think they really help with the curling of the eyelashes. This brush definitely does just that. The brush itself is just a little bit longer than half the length of my eyelid and due to this, it only takes two quick sweeps to have your eyelashes covered. The mascara itself is quite thick but that is to be expected with a name like 'the falsies'. All false eyelashes I have ever had have been really thick and fake looking. Once I had applied the mascara, I was extremely happy with the results. My eyelashes were curled nicely as well as being very dark. Even though the mascara is thick, it didn't clump at all and my eyelashes were left separated but looking great at the same time. == Removal == Soap is something that I never use on my face, only face wipes so that is how I will be judging the removal of this product. I tend to use face wipes from Wilkinsons (own brand) and have never had any problems with using them to remove mascara before. This time, the mascara was a little tougher to get off than others have I used before. Although I didn't have to rub too hard to get it off, it did take some persuading. I would recommend using wipes of soap for sensitive skin for this product just in case you do need to be a bit more forceful during removal. == Longevity == I generally leave the house pretty early in the morning and I am sometimes not home until 11pm due to lectures and then going straight to work afterwards so I needed a mascara that would last. After putting it on for the first time, I was happy to see that my eyelashes looked exactly the same as they did at 11pm compared to 8am. There was no flaking whatsoever or not itchiness from having it on for so long. I was really impressed with the product because of this and was looking forward to not having to reapply half way through the day anymore! == Overall == This is another great product from Maybelline and one I will be sticking with for a while now. It seems as though I really don't need to use the white mascara first to make my eyelashes curly as this one does the job just as good, if not better, and it takes less time to apply. It was a bargain at £5.99 but I would happily pay full price for it.
I recently wrote a review on Maybelline falsies mascara, which is supposed to give a false lash look effect. I stated at the end of the review that they had brought out a very similar version more recently, this one being called 'the falsies black drama' mascara. As I had recently ran out of this mascara and I do like it, I thought I would buy this newer one, which is also by Maybelline, as it was at an introductory price of £6.19 instead of its RRP £8.19. A couple of dooyoo'ers recommended I try MaxFactor's version of their false lash effect mascara, I did look at it but it was priced at just over £10, and so avoided it simply for the price, as the Maybelline one was a lot cheaper and was in the 3 for 2 deal at Boots, so it worked out a little cheaper in the end. At first, I wasn't completely sure what the difference between the two was, until I read the packaging. It stated 'our blackest false lash glam look'. The colour of the mascara is 'blackest black' so from what I could see, the main difference was that this one would make my lashes look blacker and more darker than the orginal Maybelline falsies mascara, which is what I would like. The mascara itself has a spoon brush with carbon black pigments and extra long fibres, which apparently make the lashes look thicker and longer. The spoon brush fans out lashes and ensures generous product deposit and helps build volume without clumping. I like the brush and find it very easy to apply to my lashes, it spreads out evenly onto every lash from corner to corner, with only a couple of glides. It volumises my lashes and makes them look much longer without any clumps, but what was more noticable after applying this mascara is the blackness of my lashes. They did look incredibly black and dark, more so than the other version of the falsies mascara made by them. Therefore it does what it stated and as I was aiming for a very black look, I was very pleased. If you liked the previous version of this mascara like I did, then you will also like this one, but it does make your lashes look blacker so if you do not want that result, then you might be better off sticking to the other. If you do like your lashes to look as dark as possible, then I would definitely recommend this mascara. It volumises and lengthens my lashes just the same as the other, but it does this very well. I cannot fault this product and I will purchase it again when I have ran out, even at the full price of £8.19. Unless of course, they bring out a newer version of this again, which I will be very keen to try! It is currently priced at £8.19 in Boots, but is on 3 for 2 with all other maybelline cosmetics. It can also be purchased from superdrug and supermarkets such as Asda and Morrisons.
