Advantages: Really is waterproof
Disadvantages: Doesn't make your lashes thick
Introduction
I am always on the lookout for a really good mascara, the one I'm looking for should be waterproof, last all day, make my eyelashes long, thick and curl, but not make my eyelashes clumpy and brittle, and be easy to remove at night.
I'm yet to find this perfect mascara and doubt it exists but I have found this mascara which has proved to have met some of my requirements. I bought this macara in turbo black - waterproof.
Price and Packaging
The mascara retails at £4.50 in Maybelline counters at stores such as Superdrug and Boots. It does go on special offer quite a lot at both of those stores so look out, you may be able to get it cheaper.
The mascara comes in quite a wide tube which contains 8.5ml of product. The tube is black with a silver-grey lid. Between the lid and tube there is a thin ring of shiny silver plastic. The brush is has more bristles than most mascara brushes and they are thick making for a fuller application. It says on the side 'Ophthalmologically tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers'.
The packaging isn't particularly attractive but I like the shape of the tube.
Product & Application
After I applied the mascara to my eyes I was a little surprised, from the way the brush is structured I was expecting it to make my eyelashess look clumpy and too thick! This wasn't the case at all, they looked evenly spread and fluttery. However the thickness wasn't as good as I normally like it, as the mascara is called 'Volum' Express' I felt a little let down. If you are going out I would recommend another coat to make your lashes look thicker and longer, or use an eyelash curler first, as one coat didn't really achieve this like other mascaras do. The mascara didn't smudge at all.
Durability
I wore this mascara during a heavy crying session and also wore it in the shower and to go swimming. The mascara did it's job and didn't budge at all! Didn't even leave any smudges. The mascara lasted all day and didn't appear to wear off until it was ready to take off for bed. To take it off I just used cotton wool with my expensive eye make-up remover and it all came off easily leaving no traces. However, when I tried taking it off with a cheap make-up remover I found that there were still traces of mascara left so it may be worth investing in a good make-up remover if you use this brand.
Summary: Great waterproof mascara which will last all day without budging
