Review of Maybelline Water Shine Nail Polish
I used to wear nail polish regularly but for various reasons stopped painting my nails; however I have recently started using it again and am enjoying discovering all the nail polish ranges available.
Maybelline was a favourite of mine for many years and I recently bought a few of their polishes.
**The Water Shine Nail Polish**
This nail polish gives a high shine, wet look finish. I have shade 15 (Bikini Pink) and shade 12 (Sparkling Gold). The nail polish comes in a traditional glass bottle containing 12ml of nail polish. As usual, the application brush is attached to the cap. The brush is a fairly bog standard type and I find it is easy to hold and apply your polish.
Maybelline state that this nail polish has added acrylic to give a chip resistant, mirror-like finish. Not sure that I would agree with the chip-resistant claim, but the overall effect of this polish is very good indeed. I have found that it lasts fairly well although does begin to chip on day 2, this is probably my own fault as I never wear rubber gloves for household chores, so perhaps I am asking too much of any nail polish!
Maybelline also say that the Water Shine range is a one coat nail polish. I have managed to get away with one coat with the gold/ brown shade that I bought, but the pink one really does need two coats to bring the colour to a level I find acceptable. That said, I did not pay too much for these nail polishes, so I do not really mind having to use two coats.
One thing I have noticed about Maybelline nail polish is that it doesn't smell quite as pungent as other brands, now that has to be a good thing!
The nail polish goes on smoothly and I have had no issue with streaks or a patchy finish and it also removes easily too with my nail polish remover.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
These nail polishes were impulse buys; I saw them on a special offer display in my local independent chemist store and paid the princely sum of £1.25 each, which I considered to be a real bargain.
There were around a dozen or so shades displayed and I must admit some were definitely not colours I would choose. Being a 50+ lady, I just cannot see myself with Forest Green nails! That said there were plenty of shades for me to choose from and I was very happy with my choices.
Maybelline Water Shine Nail Polish is reasonably hard wearing in spite of the tough time I give my nails; it is easy to apply, dries in around 4-5 minutes and gives a very attractive wet look finish. I am really rather impressed with this nail polish and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
Thank you for reading.
