Advantages: Almost identical to the more expensive Benefit twin, long lasting, lots in a bottle, pretty shimmer

Disadvantages: The applicator isn't idea, but it only serve to get product out the bottle- you brush or rub it in

I am a Benefit fan but sometimes wonder if the prices are just because of the brand name. When MeMeMe launched some Benefit copycat products, I was very tempted by the Beat The Blues highlighter lotions. I had a trial of Benefit's highbeam and thought it was a great product, but not one I went to on a daily basis. It's an extra that makes me think 'If I'm using a shimmery liquid highlighter, why don't I go the full hog and use all my other products.' I like many will use quite a few products on a daily basis, but these are the general minimum (aka foundation, concealer, liner, mascara, blusher, lip shades, maybe some gloss and shadows on some days...).

So the MeMeMe Beat The Blues lotion was a bit of an impulse. I was indecisive because I am fair skinned, but went for the gold as I have enough pink products that I could use for shading and highlighting, such as blushers and shadows. This has hints of pink in it anyway, but the base tone is gold.

If you want to compare this to it's inspiration, Benefit High Beam, you get 1ml less and pay around a fiver, whereas High Beam is a pricey £16.50. Not really worth the extra 1ml!

The products are basically the same! The High Beam has more light reflectants in it so it shines more, but they both have an equal amount of shimmer. The difference of light and shimmer is that when the light hits them both at the same time, the Benefit lotion is lit up, but the MeMeMe lotion glitters and shimmers. I hope that makes sense! Some people may want a pretty, flattering shimmer, some may want total light reflection.

The MeMeMe bottle is a bit taller and slimmer than the Benefit one. They are like giant nail polish bottles. I don't think the brushes are the greatest thing to use as they are only to get the product out of the bottle, but you don't actually brush it on.

MeMeMe comes as a much thicker lotion, so the bottle can be a bit messy and gloppy as the brush is very loaded at the start of the bottle. You have to shake it off and dab it inside the bottle before you apply a huge gloop to your face. You can just dab it on the back of your hand or in a palette first.

The product is long lasting too and doesn't cake or slide off. You get so much in the bottle that it could last for such a long time, and a little goes a long way, what a bargain!

It also has no smell for those who have to wonder about these things ;)

Summary: What a bargain! Get this before Benefit every time!
