I got a small jar of MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Moisturising Face Base in a beauty box several months ago. The product is a primer which is designed to moisturise and smooth the skin before applying foundation and as well as creating a good base for make-up, it should also make your foundation stay in place longer. Before using this product, I had no idea what to expect in terms of results as it was quite different to primers I had used in the past. Before this one I had tried Smashbox photofinish and 17 photo flawless primers, which are both a clear silky gel, whereas this one is a white cream. I have also had very little experience of MeMeMe products, although years ago I used the Beat the Blues highlighter fairly regularly. The MeMeMe brand has had a bit of a face lift recently and I have to admit I was quite impressed by the packaging of this. It comes in a jar which is in a black and pinky-nude coloured box, with a subtle swirly flock-type design. I think it looks very boudoir and quite modern. The actual product is a creamy consistency and despite being quite thick, only a small amount is required per use. Something that really surprised me about this product is that it has a very strong citrus smell. On checking the box it seems it actually contains lemon, lime, orange and mandarin. I am a huge fan of citrus scents, however I was slightly dubious about applying such a strongly scented product to my face, especially because I have redness and sensitivity on my cheeks. Thankfully no adverse reactions have occurred. Although the base should be applied before make-up, it does not mention on the box whether it should be applied after moisturiser or if you should just skip the moisturiser altogether. My skin is very dry and can rarely cope without moisturiser, so I've tried this both ways. I found that for me, it worked best if I applied my moisturiser, let it sink in and then applied this over the top. If I used the face base alone, I noticed by the afternoon my make-up had the appearance of flaking around my nose. I suspect for those with more of a 'normal' skin type, you could get away with skipping the moisturiser. On applying this it sinks in quickly but does leave my skin looking quite shiny. It says on the website that this can be worn alone for 'radiant heavenly skin' but I personally wouldn't be happy doing this as it leaves my face too oily looking. When applying foundation over the top of this, it goes on just as easily as when I apply it to bare skin. I have not really noticed a huge difference in terms of the way my foundation looks since using this, it does not look particularly brighter or smoother or anything like that, which is a little disappointing. Where I think this product excels is increasing longevity of my foundation. I find that my foundation stays on much longer and stays looking as good as when it was initially applied. To some extent this is actually saving me money as I'm happier to use a cheaper foundation more often now as I'm not worried about it rubbing off throughout the day. This product is available from Superdrug stores or www.mememecosmetics.co.uk for £15. The full sized jar holds 30ml, my small jar is just 10ml which does not sound a lot but it has lasted me several months, although I should note I probably only use it around 3 times a week as I don't wear foundation every day. I am very impressed with this product and will definitely be purchasing the full sized jar when my little version runs out. Although I don't think it particularly improves the look of my skin, it makes my foundation stay on for much longer and keeps it looking fresh, so I would be more than happy to recommend it.
