~~Milani Smooth Finish Cream to Powder Makeup (Caramel Brown 03)~~
I love powdering my face as it gives a nice finish to my make up and over the year, I have used different types of face powders. My face is generally oily so I prefer the oil free types which at times are a bit difficult to find. The brand I have been using was good but has recently become a bit expensive so it was time to look for alternatives. I have been looking around for a while and testing various products until recently when I went into my local pharmacy and noticed the Milami products on promotion.
~Product description and Availability~
The powder comes in a very nice round golden hardened plastic container with gold metallic rim. The brand name MILAMI is clearly visible on the lid and the "small print" is at the base of the container. The container had 3 sections, the lid which houses the mirror inside, the middle section which contains the powder and another section below this which is the storage compartment for the sponge applicator which is also included. The powder is oil free and is recommended for all skin types. It comes in 12 different shades which range from very light to very dark. My ideal shade is Caramel Brown 03.
It is made in USA by Milani, Dist. It is not as widely available as I expected but seems to be available in most outlets and online stores which sell makeup especially for the dark skinned.
The actual weight (net weight) of the powder is 7.9 g (0.28 ounces). Currently it is available from £5.00 - £10.00. I bought mine for £6.99.
~Application and Ease of use~
The powder comes with a sponge applicator which is quite handy for application. Is looks like a creamy texture but is actually compact powder making it easy to apply without the puffing associated with loose powders. Application is easy, lightly move the sponge across the powder to pick up a bit and apply by stroking on evenly on the skin. According to the experts during application the powder glides on like a cream and blends to a natural matte powder finish on the skin. As you slide the sponge over your skin the powder spreads out and covers the skin. Light rubbing is necessary for uniformity and also to make sure any grooves and humps you may have are also nicely covered so giving the whole face a good and even pigmentation. Because of the ease of application, it is not time consuming so you get fast results that last. The effect does last for the whole day but when it is hot, I have noticed that my skin tends to become a bit shiny after about 4-5 hours so I normally just lightly apply the powder again during my lunch breaks as well to avoid moving around with a shinny face. The cream is lightweight and moisture-balanced so still allows the skin below to breath.
The powder can be used every day and any time and can be carried in a ladies bag for later applications if needed. The powder also has a nice smell which is something ladies want as well. . Because it is lightweight, it is also easy to remove using facial cleansers.
Face powders with oily ingredients are not ideal for people like me with naturally oily skin so Milani is quite favourable for me as it is oil free. It feels fantastic on my skin and I have fallen in love with it.
I however feel £6.99 for 7.9 g (0.28 ounces) powder is rather pricey but good make up products don't seem to come cheap. My powders normally last me 3-4 months so I am expecting this to be the same.
