“ Brand: Miss Sporty / Mascaras / Type: Mascara / Suitable for: Eye „
This is an "Xtra Black" mascara from the budget beauty brand "Miss Sporty". I've always liked Miss Sporty, it was one of the first brands I tried because there was once a time when I wouldn't go anywhere near make up and so the "Miss Sporty" brand made me feel a bit less girly to start with when using make up, I've since turned into completely the opposite person though from being a teenager reluctant to wear make up I'm now a day to day wearer. For this reason I've tried many of Miss Sporty's products and nearly all of their mascaras. The mascara claims to sculpt lashes for a perfectly defined look.
The bottle is a standard looking mascara bottle with it's main colour being black the writing and details on the bottle are in silver so that it stands out and is easy to read. All the basic information is provided like ingredients and manufacturer details and we are also told that there is 8ml in the bottle. The black lid twists away from the bottle to reveal the mascara wand which is almost shaped like an elongated triangle with one end being thinner than the other. The thin tip allows easy reach to lashes in the corners of your eyes the bristles are also organised is a twisted fashion.
The mascara is currently available in Boots for £1.99.
I think this mascara performs remarkably well considering it's price tag. The design of the wand ensures that you grab every lash and I also find that the twisted spiral arrangement of the bristles on the wand seem to add to the volume you get from using the mascara.
The mascara really lifts your lashes and separates them to a good extent. You can sometimes get a few clumps from this mascara but I find this is resolved if you go back over the area with just the tip of the mascara wand before the product dries.
The liquid is very black in colour and with it's even coating on the lashes I feel it provides a real dramatic effect. If like me you enjoy rather dramatic lashes this mascara is also very good for building up a look and with a couple of coats this is perfect for a night out.
In terms of the amount of product in the bottle you get the standard amount which is 8ml. The good thing about this mascara though is even without an anti clump brush or any of the new technology, the brush never really seems to be overloaded and so you get good longevity in terms of the amount of product you use and amount left in the bottle.
From my experience this product lasts very well for it's price range. There are more expensive mascaras that I use that I never have to re-coat but I have had to apply some more of this mascara on some days to keep up my look, especially if I've been out all day and I'm going out in the evening. If you want a really long lasting mascara though this product is also available in a waterproof version and I always use this when I'm on holiday!
Overall I think this is a really good mascara, at £1.99 I don't see how you can really complain, it performs highly for the cost and could easily sell with a higher price tag. This is a product I always return to.
I wear make up on a daily basis, and this includes mascara. Even though I have fairly long eyelashes naturally, I like to make them look thicker and fuller to compliment when I wear eye liner. I get through mascaras in a few weeks, so I am constantly buying new ones. As my budget can't stretch to higher end brands so frequently, I often like to test out budget branded mascaras. Miss Sporty was a brand I had never really delved into before, and I have no idea why now!
Miss Sporty is targeted at the younger market, and this is shown through their array of products and cheaper price tags. This didn't really bother me because a black mascara is a black mascara. The thing that drew me to this mascara in particular was that it only cost me £1.99! Initially when picking this up, I was not thinking it would be that great a mascara based on the fact it cost less than £2.00. How wrong I turned out to be. Miss Sporty is stocked in Superdrug stores and Boots where I picked mine up.
The mascara comes as shown, in a simple black tube. It is nothing special in appearance, but this is expected for the price. As it is the fabulous lash xtra black mascara, it is only available in black. There is a curved alternative where the brush is slightly bent, and this comes in pink packaging. I however opted for the original mascara. The first thing I noticed when using this mascara was that it is quite runny in the tube, so when you pull out the brush, be sure to wipe around the edges at the top of the tube. This will just get rid of any excess liquid which might cause a mess!
Let me start by saying just how fantastic the applicator brush! I personally do not like those flimsy plastic mascara applicators, as I always end up poking myself in the eye with them. This is an actual brush applicator, and is of a good thickness, as it easily covers all lashes. It gets thinner towards the tip of the applicator, and this end point makes it great for getting access to lashes on the lower part of the eye, as well as those hard to reach lashes in the corners. I really like the shape of the brush, and have found it one of the easiest to work with.
Applying this is so simple, as the colour of the mascara is an extreme black shade. Just one swipe over the lashes gives off an incredible look, and I really couldn't believe how impressive this was for the price. As I stated before, I am quite lucky to have naturally long eyelashes. This mascara is great at lengthening them even more, so is good for those with shorter eyelashes. The main reason I wanted this was to create volume and thickness in my lashes. This definitely does the job I wanted it for, as I was able to make both my upper and lower lashes so long and thick. I have tried some higher end brands of mascara before, and I would happily purchase this Miss Sporty one over them as it actually does what it claims to!
As someone who seeks volume and thickness in a mascara, I often get let down by clumpy looking mascara, almost like spider lashes as I like to call them. This mascara enabled me to get volume, without looking like I had huge clumpy lashes. I was so impressed with the end results of this mascara, that I am now on my second one!
The only faults I can think is that it can smudge after a good few hours, especially in bad weather. This is because the mascara isn't actually waterproof. For the price I paid, I can expect it to rub off a little, however nine times out of ten my mascara looks perfect still at the end of the day.
Overall, I really can not recommend this mascara enough to everyone. When it comes to mascaras, many brands promise things which simply don't show in the finished results. This budget brand smashes all other mascaras which I have previously tried, and I will keep going back to this. The brush is amazing, it creates amazing long and thick lashes, and it lasts most of the day without budging too much. All that for under £2.00? You can't really go wrong. Thanks for reading and I hope I've helped.
After my mum bought me a Miss Sporty mascara for christmas and I absolutely loved it, I went out and bought some more of their products to try, including this Fabulous Lash Mascara. It only costs £3.29 and it has turned out to be another great buy!
The packaging is very cheap looking, a bright pink tube with silver writing and a navy blue lid. It looks cheap but it feels well made, and it's what's inside that counts after all. The brush is a proper old-style brush with bristles in a spiral pattern and tapered towards the end.
It's really easy to apply but you do have to be careful to remove the excess from the end of the brush before you use it or you'll end up with big splodges of mascara. The brush is a good size though and it is easy to reach all of the eyelashes with it and it dries quickly.
I've never found a mascara before where I can apply more than one coat wihtout it ending up looking clumpy, spidery or just really really fake, but this one I can apply several coats and it still looks great. If I apply just one coat it gives a bit of volume and added length with a really natural look that's great for during the day, or if I apply more coats I can build it up to a really long, luscious, fluttery look which is perfect for a night on the town.
Amazingly I can apply 3 coats of this wihtout it looking remotely clumpy and my eyelashes look really separated and defined. It stays on all day or night without smudging but it comes off easily with a basic makeup remover.
I won't be wasting money on expensive mascaras anymore!
I can't remember what the exact price was, however I do remember the 'Miss Sporty' display- and it clearly stated that all products were under 3 pounds. That was, as cheap as it may sound, what attracted me. "Under three pounds? It can't be!" I suddenly put down my regular and beloved 'Maybelliene Colossal Mascara that I was about to buy, and practically ran over to the 'Miss Sporty' display.
The packaging is girly, and it seems that in general the products are targeted at Teenage. The shape of it is basically a long tube, similar to most mascara's out there nowdays. The tip of the tube is candyfloss pink, and lower end of the it is black. In eyechatcing Silver it says 'Miss Sporty Fabulous Lash Xtra Black. Lash Building Mascara', and underneath in smaller letter but still noticebe it sates what the product does exactly (I shall go into that in detail later on). The tube again is similar to other products in the market- it's made of plastic. Although it's eyecatching, and appealing in the way that it looks fun and it's also cheap I do have to state it does look tacky and I honestly can't see someone older then 16 buying this product (I think it's aimed at teens who are just starting out with Makeup).
On the mascara, in detail, it stated- "Fabulous Lash-intensify your look! Build your lashes from natural to dramatic. Extra Black pigments give lashes intense colour for a more glamorous look. Unique control brush evenly coats lashes from root to tip." Starting with the postive part, it does indeed make your eyelashes Black, very Black indeed. Another positive about it is that it manages to separate your lashes. But although this it true, it does not create a 'Dramatic' effect at all, nor does it intensify your lashes. It didn't curve my eyelashes one bit, I think this is due to the striaght and long brush, it only left my lashes with the natural effect.....well not so natural as it was ridiculously dark. The brush was also brittle, and after coating it on several times- because my eyelashes simply wouldn't curve at all- the brittleness and overall bad quality of the brush alone made me put the Mascara somewhere. Definantly not my makeup bad- more like the bin.
I shall not be buying this Mascara again, I think the old saying applys to this (though I stress that I have seen cheap mascara's of good quality)- "The cheaper, the worser the quality".
I wasn't too impressed with this mascara although I loved the price; £2.79 in Superdrug. However, I wasted what little money it cost because it was so messy to use and almost impossible to remove, however hard I tried.
It looked great when it was first applied but, within a couple of hours, I had the tell-tale 'panda eyes' that I hate so much. It really does seem almost impossible for any of the cosmetic companies to come up with a mascara that does not leech onto the skin.
I also found that it was quite messy to use and left the lashes clumpy. I did like the intensity of the black but only on the lashes not almost down to my cheekbones!
Most of Miss Sporty's products are very good and they represent great value for money; I love their lipsticks, foundations and nail polishes so I was very disappointed that the mascara did not come up to scratch.
I'd have been even more disappointed if I had paid a lot of money for it!

I was staying over my boyfriends house last weekend, he lives about 16 miles away from me, and as I cant drive going home just to pick up my forgotten mascara is just stupid, but how can a girl live without mascara for a whole weekend? Better yet, how can a girl, whos not exactly rich right now, live without mascara for the whole weekend? Well the answer lies with Miss Sporty.
I ventured off to the local super drug in search for a good yet cheap mascara (I know, wishful thinking) After search through the (what seemed like) hundreds of mascaras I found the miss sporty section, I dont tend to buy make up from this brand, it always seems that the cheaper the make-up the more likely they are to turn out bad and you wish you hadnt bothered at all! Well anyway, I found Fabulous Lash Xtra (yes extra was is spelt like that on the tube) mascara. To my surprised it seemed pretty good (after an inspection of the brush etc) and for the price, well why not!
It cost me just £2.99 (I think this is the standard price in most stores.) I spend £2.99 on rubbish like chocolate most days so for something that lasts a good few weeks £2.99 is nothing.
It comes in a long tube (as most mascaras do) the bottom is black plastic and the top is a lovely pink coloured plastic. Theres silver writing on the tube, Miss Sporty written around the top and fabulous lash, xtra black, lash building mascara written vertically with Xtra Black standing out in larger letters. The bright colours of the miss sporty mascaras makes them look really fun! would probably be the best word (or best word I could think of) to describe it. Theyre not the usual, boring packaging that other brands use and if you regularly buy the same product theyre easier to find than the thousands of max factor mascaras that seem to be packaged in almost identical casing. Although they may look a little tacky and child-like, I prefer them.
Well obviously this one is black (hence Xtra Black) The top twist out revealing a straight, thick brush, from first glance it doesnt seem clumpy and it turns out not to be! Although the mascara is very black it doesnt make your lashes look full, lucky for me I have quite full lashes anyway. Unlike usual mascaras that I buy it seems to separate each lash rather than sort of make them stick together so your lashes seem to fan out more. It definitely lengthens you lashes well, I think this may be the best lengthening mascara I have bought (and Ive bought all the fancy £20 ones ) The brush makes it easy to apply to your bottom lashes too and theres no clump effect (obviously it isnt perfect - you may need to brush it through just to make sure.)
I was really shocked with it and Ill definitely be buying more once its run out. After all the money Ive forked out on mascara I never thought a £2.99 would be best!
