I was about to go on holiday to Portugal, my first ever beach holiday, and was hunting for some waterproof mascara. I know wearing makeup to the beach or by the pool is probably a bit silly, but my natural eyelashes are very pale, and considering I dye my hair dark brown, I can look a bit silly without a coat of mascara! After a disappointing experience with The Body Shop Waterproof Mascara (previously reviewed), I decided to read some Dooyoo reviews before making another choice (which is something I should have probably done in the first place). This Miss Sporty Fabulous Lash Waterproof Mascara got really good reviews so I decided to go to Superdrug and buy it, despite having no previous experience with the Miss Sporty brand.
The mascara cost £3.29 which is much less than I am normally prepared to pay for a mascara - this made me very happy! The mascara comes in a pale blue tube with silver writing, which doesn't make it look sophisticated, though it doesn't look tacky. The packaging for the whole brand makes me think it is aimed at younger women and teenagers but this didn't put me off.
The mascara wand was thin and pointed and I found it easy to apply to my lashes. The mascara defines lashes well, providing length without much volume. I found I needed two coats for the best effect, but I was happy with the way my lashes looked. Anyway, I only wanted it for the beach so I wasn't exactly expecting to look like a supermodel!
I was incredibly impressed with the mascara when I tested it out. It was completely waterproof and nothing budged it: having a shower while wearing mascara, splashing my face, watering eyes. I was so impressed I took it on holiday with me and it lived up to my initial impression. The only thing that seemed to budge it was sun cream - that'll teach me to spray suncream directly onto my face (doh). After this slight mishap, I avoided directly spraying the suncream, and the mascara stayed put from then on!
I found the mascara was easily removed using the Clinique purple makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips that I got free with Glamour a while ago. Johnson's 2 in 1 eye makeup remover was also effective but needed a bit more effort than with normal mascara.
I was very happy with this mascara as it was completely waterproof as claimed. For an everyday look I do prefer other mascaras from Rimmel and Lancome, but I was happy with this as a temporary measure and if I ever need another waterproof mascara in the future, I will certainly buy this again.
Some of the contents in my make-up bag are products from the Miss Sporty range. I mainly tend to by my mascaras from Miss Sporty, and have done so for quite a number of years now. Today I will be reviewing the Miss Sporty Waterproof Mascara.
Applying the mascara is very simple. Just a few sweeps over the eyelashes and ta-da! you're ready to go!
One thing which I like about the wand, is that it is simple; like the old fashioned mascara wands you used to get. None of this 'spiky' looking kind of wands, which you make you think that you could do injury to yourself if you went anywhere near your eye with it!
The mascara itself is quite dark in colour and so it only takes a little bit of mascara to add a little attention to your eyes.
I bought this mascara from Boots for around £3. I remember a time when all of Miss Sporty's products were £3 or under! These days though, not a lot of the products are under £3. However, this mascara does work and so I would therefore say that it is good value for money.
You would normally expect 'cheap' products to not work, and expensive products to work, however, in my experience, I have found that the cheaper waterproof mascaras (like this one) work and the more expensive ones which are priced at around £12 don't work, and so that it worth considering. I would say maybe try a cheap one to see if that works before investing in an expensive one.
The mascara does not take very long to dry which is good, as I find that with most mascaras they take a while to try, and so I will have blinked about one hundred times before its dried, and so will end up with mascara by my eyebrows. So this mascara is good because you don't get that with this one!
I find that the result of this mascara is a really good one. I find it seperates my lashes and lengthens them really well. The mascara is all good at building my lashes too, and so it is great for carrying out the 'big eye look' that I love.
I was pleased to discover that this mascara is not clumpy and so does not give me any clumps which is good, as there is nothing worse than having clumps of mascara stuck in various places on your eyelashes.
Each tube of mascara lasts me around two weeks, and so I end up spending approximately £6 a month on mascara, which isn't too bad, considering that you could spend £10+ on one.
If you are looking for an everyday waterproof mascara, try this; Its well worth the money.

I'm not loyal to any brand of make-up as a rule, but Miss Sporty is one I've ended up going back to a lot now. I know it's more known for being a cheaper brand aimed at teenage girls, affordable prices for average quality cosmetics. But I love some of the cosmetics from the brand, despite being the wrong side of 40! ( and 50 ;) )
I first tried this when my teenage grandaughter gave me one when she'd had them on a buy one get one free offer a while back. I didn't expect anything from it, as I'd normally paid about £10 for mascaras from Loreal and Maxfactor, this seemed like it would be cheap and a bit rubbish to be honest.
The packaging is very similar to most mascara's, a tube with a baby blue lid with the brush attached and a pink container where the mascara is. Very basic and easy to use. As with most mascara's, you just unscrew the lid with the brush attached, do your thing with your lashes and return the brush to the container.
I tried it out, using my normal technique, of moving the brush side to side as well as brushing the lashes upwards. I was suprised that the mascara made my lashes look nice and long and also thicker. I did have a few little clumps, but I used the end of the brush to get these out of my lashes. I put plenty on and kept running the brush from root to tip until I had long, black and slightly thicker lashes. I'm impressed to say that this worked better for me than some of the expensive brands I've used in the past.
It dries quite quickly and like it says, is waterproof, so when you have teary eyes, which I do, it doesn't run or smudge. People did mention to me that my lashes looked nice when I wore this mascara.
Getting this mascara off isn't that easy. Being as it's waterproof, it doesn't come off too easily when you wash your face, so you have to give it a good rub, or prehaps try using an eye-makeup-remover.
This mascara's about £3.49 now In most Superdrug stores and I've seen it in a couple of Boots stores too.
Overall, I'd definitely say it's worth the money, it's cheap and very effective, ideal for teenagers or people who just don't want to spend £10 on a cosmetic. I think it's a fantastic mascara for the money and would definitely recommend it to others.
I normally tend to go for the cheapest nail varnish I can find, as my eyelashes are naturally quite long. I normally just use boots natural collection's curling one, which costs me £1.99, but does the job well. However, i was on holiday and had run out, and there where no boots stores around, just a superdrug. I went in and the cheapest one i could find was this one, miss sporty waterproof mascara. After i had bought it I put some on and was pleasently surprised at how well it worked. It seperated my lashes and left no clumps, another bonus was that it was waterproof, and I didn't need to take it off before I jumped in the pool, yay! The mascara cost me around £2.99, I can't remember the specific cost, but all miss sporty products are under £3, so i would definatley be giving some of their other products a go!
The best mascara in the most unlikely place! That's how I'd sum up miss sporty mascara. It's a 'value for money' brand for teens which doesn't make you necessarily think quality but this mascara has taught me not to judge a product by its price tag.
The mascara was recommended to me by a friend and though I'd seen the miss sporty brand strolling up and down the make-up aisles in my local boots I always walked right by it. It doesn't have a catchy slogan and doesn't promise 'lashes that reach for the sky' but id say definitely give this a go, its cheap as chips so you have nothing to lose =]
The mascara has a pretty standard looking brush which is a rarity nowadays as many of us girls know. The brush gives really even coverage and minimises clumps. The mascara goes onto your lashes really easily and you can build it up and have it still look natural unlike many other types of mascara on the market especially waterproof mascara. It's practical to wear as you don't have to constantly check whether it's smudged or what not which is wonderful.
It definitely does what it says on the tin, it does help to build your lashes. The main thing is that it builds lashes without them looking cakey and just plain weird. It has also always delivered in the waterproof stakes and there wasn't so much as a smudge when I slammed my little finger in the car door! It comes in different shades and id definitely recommend this to anyone on or off a budget but especially if moneys tight you cant go wrong with this mascara!
Egged on by the positive reviews of other Miss Sporty products, I plunged in and bought the £1.99 waterproof mascara. I'm well past the teenage stage that the products is aimed at, so I thought I'd be a good test. Well, like the other products, it does just what is says on the tube!! I bought the waterproof version as I wear contact lenses and cos my eyes must produce more tears than non contacts wearers, most mascaras run, even expensive waterproof ones. I was pleased with its perfomance, and it's not all cakey to put on like some other waterproof mascaras. It's nice and flexible, and not the most voluminous mascara, you can build it up and it still looks natural. It doesn't run, and although I haven't tested it swimming yet, it seems fairly waterproof. Well worth the money, and I think I'll be trying other products in the range as and when I need them. I can always pretend I'm still a teenager, even if I'm well past it!!
