Model Co Fibre Lash
Advantages: Makes lashes look long and healthy.
Disadvantages: Mascara dries quickly on brush during application.
I recently ran out of mascara and went out shopping to buy a new one with no particular brand or variety in mind. When I was browsing the magazine stand in one store I noticed a freebie mascara attached to one magazine. The mascara was this Model Co. Fibre Lash mascara and on the front of the magazine it said it usually cost £16 but it was totally free with this £1 Glamour magazine. I thought it was too good an offer to refuse so I bought the magazine.
Before using the mascara I read a bit about it in the magazine and then confirmed the regular price of it by visiting an online website where the product is sold. Singer and celebrity Dannii Minogue endorses the Model Co. mascara range and claims to love her "instant false lashes in a bottle".
There are a few different products in the Model Co. range but the mascara I have is the Fibre Lash Xtend Extreme Black Lengthening mascara. On the Model Co. website this is actually priced at £28. The brand describe this as revolutionary because it has "inbuilt lash fibres" which mimic a false eyelash effect.
I really like the design of the bottle for this mascara. It is a lightweight, slim tube with a large 4cm sized wand handle. On the edge of the bottle there is a long, clear mirror which is an excellent help if you are out and about and need to apply your mascara. The top of the mascara twists off easily and there is a 2 ½cm to 3cm sized brush. The brush is designed with a spiral pattern which means the bristles are at an angle to your lashes which helps distribute the mascara more easily.
The brush does not look laden with mascara when pulled out of the tube but if you apply to your lashes at once they become black and silky looking. The mascara is the type that once applied does not look clumpy at all. It does not come off into bits but it coats every single lash equally and with a thin coating so that it elongates the lash (or gives the appearance of having longer lashes). I really like the fact that it's not all gooey and clumpy. One problem I have though is that the mascara dries quite quickly. This means if you are aiming for thicker lashes and need to apply a second coat it's difficult to do so. The mascara actually dries up on the wand brush itself and looks like a little hedgehog with all these strange wispy spikes. It is necessary to keep dipping the wand into the bottle between applications if you are going for a thicker eyelashes look. The mascara is actually perfect for just lengthening and defining the lashes though and one swipe of the brush makes my lashes look beautiful. The shade of black is deep and rich. I've never actually worn false lashes but I do think my lashes have a slightly perfect synthetic look about them once I've applied the mascara. I'm very pleased with the overall look the mascara gives me.
I haven't had any problems with the mascara smudging and it's also easy to remove with a soapy face wash or eye make-up removal liquid. I also wear contact lenses and I've had no issues with sensitivity.
I'm really pleased that I managed to get one of these excellent mascaras for only £1 when they are so expensive. Would I pay £28 for one of these from the Model Co. website? Probably not, but only because it's a little out of my budget. However I can't fault the performance of the mascara and really prefer it to the other high street brands I've been using before.

Summary: Great results.
