“ Brand: Models Own / Type: Nail Varnish / Subcategory: Nail Polish / Suitable for: Nails „
I love Models Own nails polish and their range is very extensive. I was looking for a new colour to wear to work and picked this out in Boots, you can get a 14ml bottle for £5 (June 2013). The nail polish comes in a clear glass bottle so you can see the colour and it has a plastic white screw top lid, underneath is attached the application brush.
The brush is quite small, but has a lot of thick bristles that allow you to apply the polish in one stroke, if you have small nails, as I do, the brush holds the nail polish well and this allows for even coverage of the nail and tends to take about two brush stokes and three for my thumb nail.
Feeling Blue forms part of the 'Tropical' Models own collection and it is based on the bright colours of the tropics, think palm trees, the beach and sunsets, the range also includes 'Coral Reef', Sophie's Pink', 'Pink Fever' and 'Golden Peach'. I have been impressed with the colour and have picked up a few others in the range.
I find that two coats give me a great depth of colour and that the nail polish tends to last for around 3-4 days before it needs either touching up or removing. I have also used it on my toes and it lasts a bit longer, around a week. To remove the nail polish I just use a supermarket own brand of nail polish remover and a bit of cotton wool, the colour comes off well and does not stain my fingers, though I always wear a base coat to help protect my nails.
Overall I would recommend this nail polish to others as it is a great vivid colour that is very versatile. It is good quality, lasts well, removes easily and is well priced.
I have an array of different colours from this nail polish brand and I have become a big fan over the last couple of months. For the purpose of this review, I will focus on the colour 'NP031 - Feeling Blue' which is a light blue coloured polish. The other main ones I use are 'NP131 - Purple Imperial' and 'NP146 - Jack Frost'. I purchased these polishes from Boots each time and they set me back £5.00 each. I think this is a very reasonable price.
The packaging - Each nail polish is in a clear jar, so it shows the exact colour of the product inside. The polish also has a white top and white writing on the front. The other thing I always judge a polish on is the brush. I don't tend to like the fuller brushes as I find they spread colour on to the skin around the nail bed, rather than right onto the nail. They are much less easy to control. The Model's Own nail varnishes have the perfect sized brushes. They aren't so thin that they seem as if they will leave brush lines when the polish dries but not too thick either. I love the way it is flexible enough to paint my nails perfectly.
The product itself - The nail polish has a really good consistency. It isn't too thick and spreads easily over the whole nail surface well without a base coat. The drying time of this product is also very good. I hate when I am unable to do anything after I have done my nails, but with this product, I only have to wait around for a minute for them to be touch dry and incredibly shiny too. I don't find that I need to use a topcoat, which cuts down on drying time massively too.
Overall, I will be buying this product again, I feel that it does live up to all my wishes concerning performance. The only niggle I do have is that with the blue colour, when it has not been used for a while, the colour splits slightly at the top, but a good shake sorts this out.
Unfortunately I have a bad habit of biting my nails, so much that I hardly have any at all. I try all sorts of things to encourage me to stop, and one of these is painting them. This means that recently I have been wearing a lot of nail polish on my fingers. I always ensure I have my toes painted, so I like to experiment and try with colours. I had heard many good things about the Models Own range of nail polishes, and I was eager to pick up one myself. After perusing all of the beautiful shades they had to offer (a range to rival Barry M may I add), I opted for their 'Feeling Blue' shade, as I was drawn to the brightness and uniqueness of the shade.
Models Own nail polishes are available online from their website, as well as in a few toiletries shops. I purchased mine from Boots when they had a 3 for 2 offer on. I went in to purchase some foundation and eyeliner, and it meant that I could essentially get something for free. This means that this gorgeous nail polish cost me nothing at all, however it's retail price is £5.00. Although a reasonable enough price for a nail polish, I think it is more on the expensive side. It is not something you could afford to buy the whole range of, so keep an eye out for the deals.
I love the appearance of the Models Own nail polishes. They come in quite a big bottle with a white lid. I think the white lid and it's curvy shape is what makes its appearance stand out so much, especially next to all the other bog standard nail polishes. I was in awe at all of the beautiful, vibrant colours available. There was really something for everyone!
This 'Feeling Blue' shade is part of their tropical range. I bought this to wear whilst I was on my holidays as it was quite bright and summery. When I picked it up, I was not expecting it to be as bright as it comes out on to the nail - but I absolutely love it. On the image it looks slightly pastel, but don't be fooled! I am often not into blue nail polishes, but this just has the wow factor. The brush gives a good coverage, and the bristles are strong and do not fall out. I find the brush of these nail polishes quite easy to work with, and they are not fiddly like some others. I apply two coats of this nail polish to get the best result. From the first instance of applying this, I could tell how good a quality it was. The nail polish is thick in consistency and gives the nail a good coverage without running down on to the skin. It was really easy to use, and I often find painting my nails quite difficult so this is good for those who have troubles!
After I had left the nail polish to dry after a minute or two (quite quick may I add), it left them looking absolutely beautiful. The colour of this is just outstanding, it is so bright and I got many comments and compliments on it. You really can distinguish a good quality nail polish from others. The colour is just rich and really stands out. I would not recommend this to those who like sheer or shimmery nail polish, as this is just block coloured with a matte finish. The results I thought were fantastic, and there is just no streaky marks on any nails which I normally get with other polishes!
I was hoping that this would last on my nails due to its price tag and high quality. It did not let me down at all! I wore it throughout my week long holiday, and despite many bumps and knocks to my fingers and toes, this stayed well in place. I noticed no signs of chipping for the first week or so, and I simply could not believe how good a quality this is. The vibrant colour stayed in tact for a long while, and I was really impressed.
Overall, this is such a brilliant nail polish from Models Own. I am so impressed with the results that I am going to purchase some other shades from their range. If you are sick of average nail polishes that don't do much good, I would really recommend you try these out. They have a wonderful range of bright shades, as well as glittery ones and some more sheer shades if you don't like bright nails. There really is something for everyone, and I think I will be sticking to this brand from now on. Thanks for reading and hope it helps.
