“ Brand: Models Own / Type: Nail Polish / Suitable for: Nails „
Can you believe it, I have never until recently bought anything from the Models Own range. I had seen the range in certain magazines but has I had never come across it in the shops I had never had the chance to purchase it. Then one day I happened to pop into River Island which is a shop that I never usually go in and there was a small stand with their products on, the nail varnishes really attracted my eye as they had some fabulous colours and the colour of the moment a nude grey beige or greige as I believe the magazines call it!.
======= Models Own =======
Models own is a popular brand that is growing in popularity all the time, they are able to see what trends or coming up for makeup ahead of the season and are able to quickly bring out that must have nail varnish or lipstick shade at a must better price than the top brands and due to that and the increasing coverage in magazines they are becoming the brand to have.
======== Nail Varnish =======
The nail varnish bottles are round in shape and all have a large white lid with the words "Models Own" on the front, they are quite cute looking and like almost like part of Child's toy makeup set, The bottle is very similar to the popular and higher priced Nails Inc range.
They have over 80 colours and as they re created the fashion trends that means that they are adding to them all the time so there will always be a colour for you.
When I opened the varnish I was pleased to see that the brush was a good size, not too fat or too thin and was about half an inch long allowing you to have complete control over the application.
The varnish inside looked quite thick and I was considered that it would be thick when it was applied but thankfully that was just the appearance in the bottle as when I loaded the brush and applied it went on quite thin and was easy to coat my entire nail without those little bits going into the side of my nail and the cuticle at the bottom.
As the varnish went on quite thin I knew that I would definitely need at least one more coat as it was slightly patchy in parts but I now know that this was due to the very pale colour I used and having since used other colours in the range you can get away with just one coat although with two you will always get a slightly more professional and long lasting result.
The varnish dried quite quickly and the result of the varnish was smooth looking and had a higher shine than I expected and this did last for the entire time that I was wearing it.
The varnish will last as long as you need it to, especially if you use a top coat over it which will help protect the colour and shine and also stop it from chipping.
I loved the colour result from the varnish as what you see on the bottle is what you get and that's not always the way with some cheaper brands as they colour is diluted.
It was also very easy to remove with an everyday nail varnish remover and came away easily and one cotton wool pad actually did both my hands and I have been known to go through lots!
I think that this is one of the best brands on the market for keeping up to date with the changing fashions at a relatively low cost.
It is a great varnish to apply, dries quickly and lasts well.

Description : Models Own is a fashion and trend colour accessory brand with cosmetics and make-up for eyes, lips, nails and face.
Their claim to be a 'trend colour accessory' brand is pretty accurate. Models Own boast an impressive range of over 60 powder eye-shadows, eyeliners, lipglosses, cheek tints, make-up brushes and 64 different coloured nail polishes ... something for everyone.
Models Own is available to purchase direct from their easy to navigate website as well as in-store at River Island and online at ASOS.
I first discovered the brand last year when I was looking for a citrine (lemon/lime) shade to go with a maxi dress and pair of roman sandals I wanted to wear to a summer do. Whilst browsing in River Island I spotted 'Lemon Sherbet' amongst the vast selection of colour and decided it could be the one.
Admittedly, Lemon Sherbet may not be the colour for everyone but whether you want creamy, pearly, glittery or neon, Models Own promise that their polish will glide on smoothly, be hardwearing and long lasting; designed for fashion and fun ! They have a full range of pinks, reds, blues, pastels, peaches, etc so don't be put off by the lemon. If you are looking for something slightly alternative and in fashion take a look at Models Own as they may have what you're after.
The polish is priced at around 5.00 and is packaged in a short, round bottle with a screw top lid. The brush to apply the polish is on a fairly short wand, but the brush itself is probably about 1cm long and perfect for application.
The polish is very easy to apply and I prefer the shorter wand as this allows greater control and I found I actually managed to paint my toe nails rather than the skin around them. However, I found that the Lemon Sherbet colour required two coats due to it's pearl/shimmer effect. One coat wasn't sufficient enough to provide an all over even and smooth cover. On the plus side, the polish is very fast drying so you don't need to wait long between coats. Once applied, the lemon sherbet is a lovely pearlised citrine colour and is perfect for summer, especially if you have a tan.
Models Own claim that their polishes are hard wearing and long lasting is 100% accurate too and this is where you may encounter slight resistance if you like to change the colour of your nails often. I'm somewhat ashamed to say that I wore Lemon Sherbet throughout the whole of last summer and the only maintenance it required was to paint where my nails had grown, there was no chipping, no colour fading, nothing. To remove the polish I considered paint stripper as this polish is heavy duty and doesn't want to budge but a lot of elbow grease and a very good nail varnish remover eventually does the job.
I would have to rate the polish 4 out of 5 stars and this is based on the range of colours available, easy application (although depending on polish type - pearl, glittler etc you may need more than one coat) and the fact it lasts and lasts. It is probably ideal for use on holiday when you're in and out of pools, sea, etc and you want a low maintenance polish which is going to look good.
