I bought these nail pens as I am always in search of things I can do to my nails to give them a more personal touch rather than just a plain coloured nail or a french manicure. I decided to go with this brand as I have previously used model owns nail varnishes and think they are pretty decent so decided to try their nail pens too. I have all the colours as i like to be creative with my designs.
The nail varnishes look like a standard nail varnish but instead have a lid which can be pulled off to reveal a pen, which if you twist, can be unwound to reveal a brush, enabling you to paint with it as well as draw with it. The nail varnish is very good quality, it dries very quickly and does not chip very easily. I do not use it to paint the whole of my nails as I think there are better nail varnishes for that, but I do think the pen is very good. My favorite design is to paint my nails a nude/brown colour and use the black pen do draw a leopard print pattern on my nails. I get so many compliments when I draw patterns, it really allows you to create a unique design to match my outfit or mood. The tip is very thin enabling you to create very thin lines and build up to thicker ones. The nail varnish flows out fairly quickly so you only need to squeeze it lightly otherwise you will end up with big blobs on your nails and that is not a great look if you are not looking for that desired effect.
The nail varnish inside lasts quite a long time as you do not need to use too much for when you create patterns, as a small amount spreads out to go a long way. Also when the nail varnish does run out the tubes can be washed out and filled with more nail varnish. The only problem I have found is that often the tip clogs up where the nail varnish begins to dry up, so I often find myself getting a very thin pin and coating it in nail varnish remover so I can re-pierce the tip so the nail varnish flows through it properly again.
Overall I would definitely recommend this nail varnish as it is perfect for anyone looking to personalize their nails. They are easy to use and come in some great colours, at £6.00 a pen they are great value for money.

The product is made by Models Inc and is a Nail Art Pen. The pen can be used to create different designs on nails by either using the fine brush to add strokes or lines or by using the fine metal nib for more intricate artwork. As I regularly buy the Models Own Nail Polish I have actually received 2 of these pens for free. I wasn't really sure what colours to chose so i went for the black and the pink. I tend to go for darker coloured nails so I thought these colours would look better on darker nails as they would show up more. I have never used nail art pens before so I would really have to try and be creative to come up with some good designs for my nails. The nail art pen comes in a carboard box which is quite bright and colourful. You can clearly see the colour of the nail paint in the bottle. The nail pen comes in a tall round plastic bottle with a white lid. If you pull the lid off this reveals the metal nib and if you twist the lid like you would with a nail polish it comes off to reveal a long thin brush. The bottle is made from plastic which enables you to squeeze it a little if you need to when using the metal nib for precise application.

You can purchase the nail pens from boots and from the Models Own website (www.modelsownit.com). The pens are £6.00 each, how-ever they sometimes have these in offer in Boots. I got a nail pen free when I purchased 2 nail polishes from the Models Own range. The Nail Pens come in 4 different colours which includes Blue, Pink, Black, Yellow and White. I probably wouldn't buy the nail pens, how-ever as it was a freebie I thought I may as well try it and it also gave me the chance to write a review about the product as well. On the Models Own website you can purchase all 5 colours in a box set for just £20 which saves you £10.00. This is great for anyone who lieks to decorate and experiment with their nails.

I chose a main colour for my nails and allowed it to dry before using the nail pens. I had no idea what designs I was going to do on them but though I would give it a go. I used the thin brush first to create a simple design. The nail paint was really thin and a lot thinner than I expected. I ensured I shook the bottle well before applying the nail paint. You have to ensure you don't have too much nail paint on the brush otherwise it will drip off. I brushed the paint across my nail very lightly to create a design, this was actually very simple to do. On the next nail I was going to use the fine metal tip to create a design. I shook the bottle well and pulled the lid off. I squeezed the bottle a little to ensure I could see some of the nail paint on the end of the nib. I then drew a design lightly across my nails. This was so easy to use and I much preferred using this to the thin brush.
To get an idea of using the brush and the metal tip in the picture the nails with the pink design were done with the thin brush and the one's with the black designs were done with the metal tip which I much prefer the look off. I have no idea what happened to the nail with half of it painted pink, I don't really know what I was trying to create on that nail!
The nail paint lasted on my nails for as long as my nails polish which was at least 3-4 days. After this amount of days the polish started to chip so I had to remove it. The nail paint comes off easily with the polish using nail polish remover and a cotton wool ball or pad.

The nail pens are really, easy to use and are a lot easier to use than what I thought they would be. I prefer using the metal tip for a much more precise application and I also think the design looks neater when using this. I would definitely search the internet to look for other design ideas and will probably also purchase some more of the nail pens as well so I can create different designs on different coloured nails. In terms of value I don't think £6.00 is too bad as I would normally pay about £5.00 for a Models own nail polish anyway. After some practise I think I would be confident to create some really good designs, I just need to experiment a little first. I would recommend the nail paints to anyone who likes having pretty and interesting designs on their nails but if you want to get all of the colours then it's cheaper to buy the set from the Models Own website as you will save money. I rate this product highly as the range of colours is good, and they are easy to use.
