“ Brand: Ms. Manicure / What it does: Smoothes, „
I'm a fan of the Ms Manicure range, all the items are brightly coloured and the packaging's cute too which tends to attract my attention! I bought this on recommendation from my sister after my ordinary nail buffer wore out.
The block itself is a nice size to hold, it's easy to grip and is therefore easier to control than a flat emery-board-style nail buffer. Whilst the buffing surfaces themselves are fairly rigid the block they're stuck to is quite spongy, not so much that the shape deforms during use but enough so that you're prevented from buffing with too much pressure. A nice idea as I sometimes over-buff my nails without realising - whilst watching tv for example.
The block has four buffing surfaces, one for filing the edges of your nails just like an emery-board and then 3 surfaces designed to buff the surface of the nail. The emery-board is labelled 1 and the most course buffing surface is labelled 2. This is for use when removing ridges in the nail and it's this surface you tend to over-buff with. I found it to be sufficiently course to remove ridges and not so course that it roughened the nail unnecessarily. Board number 3 smooths the nail and, again, does a very good job. Board 4 polishes the nail to a high shine. I found side number 4 to be quite tricky to use. It isn't apparent when using 2 & 3 that you're not actually buffing 100% of the nail due to the shape of the block. This becomes apparent with side 4 though as the hard-to-reach parts of your nail are left dull. I found altering the angle at which I used the block helped somewhat but the block design still prevented me from reaching 100% as I couldn't get really close to the cuticle without making the surrounding skin sore.
I've had this block for around 6 months now and use it quite regularly. The courser surfaces are losing effectiveness now but I think that, for the reasonable price charged, I'm quite happy to have got 6 months useage from this product. I would definitely recommend it and would purchase again over the standard style buffer.
The nails on our hands should always be cared for- male or female! I have found this 4 way smoothing block to be an excellent edition to the (many) tools in my make up bag and with regular use has made my nails look fab.
The 4 way smoothing block differ from bog standard emery boards- it has 4 sides and thus for beautiful looking nails you need to follow 4 easy steps. Step 1 - labeled file nail edge (pink side) is used as an emery board to neaten the ends of the nails- this should be used in one direction at all times i.e. right to left- rubbing side to side will damage the nails. Step 2- labeled remove ridges (green side) this is swept over the face of the nail to remove the ridges that can be seen on the nail, I would again recommend doing this in the one direction and not for too long as it can damage and weaken the nail. Step 3- labeled smooth nail (purple side) again should be used across the face of the nail to smooth the surface. The final step (another pink side)- labeled shine nail is used to buff the nail to a sheen.
If done properly the nails end looking beautiful and healthy. I tend to do this 1-2 times a week to keep my nails looking nice and presentable. I have found that my nails seem stronger and tend to split a lot less than before. Definitely worth the time and investment. It retails at £2.49 in Boots.
Every handbag needs one of these amazingly simple invensions.
So its a nail file, a nail ridge remover, a buffer and a nail shiner, every thing you need for a flawless nail and a perfect manicure.
I looks like a block and is easy to hold and very flexible and perfect for using time and time again with no dissapointmens.
All you do is wip it out of your bag and file away say goodbye to annoying broken nails that you have to put up with untill oyu get home this is perfect for females on the go.
The only downside to this product is the shine pad if your nails are slightly to sharp it is very easy to remove and make dents in the layer of the shine pad. Other that this everything else works perfectly. Your nails are easily filed and shaped all nasty ridges removed, then your nail is buffed for smoothness then shined for a great look. How simple and easy is that and it literally takes 5 minutes. So you can do it at your desk when you are bored and your boss is not looking or even at home when you have some spare time.
This one here costs just £2 how cheap is that? Concidering a nail file alone is like 99p?
I have used this block for many years. I first used one when I was in cosmetology and loved it. This manicure block has any kinds of buffing or filing surface you would need to make you nails look like a million dollars. It is so easy to use and very simple. The ones we had were numbered in the order that you were supposed to use them of course because we were learning students. I loved this smoothing block so much I bought one for myself at home. I know that there is something that alot of people do wrong when using this block though. When they file their nails they use a side to side motion. You are not supposed to do this. You are supposed to go in one direction as many times as needed. The reason being is because by going side to side you are getting the middle of your nail really filed and your nails do not turn out the best that they can be.
I have been using Ms Manicure 4 way smoothing block for several years now, and find it to be one of the most useful nail products I own.
The product is basically a block of what seems to be a quite solid foam, and each side has a strip glued to it, which has a different function for your nails.
Side 1 - 'File nail edge': Unfortunately, this side of the block, in my opinion, is the most useless! It's a very fine grit nail file, and although it does file the nail edge, it's very gentle, so I tend to have to use a separate nail file with harsher grains. This is good if the edge of your nail has become quite sharp, as it will soften it.
Side 2 - 'Remove Ridges': As the name suggests, you smooth this over the top of the nail to remove any ridges that your nails might have. I find this very useful, as it dramatically improves the appearance of my nails.
Side 3 - 'Smooth Nail': This is a continuation of step 2, again, you simply rub the block over the top of your nail to buff it and to get rid of any final kinks that may remain.
Step 4 - 'Shine Nail' : This step basically polishes the nails surface giving it a bit of shine, making the nails look more naturally healthy. You should not try to shine the nails too much or it will start to become painful.
I find this an invaluable tool when it comes to doing my nails. When not wearing nail polish it will make my nails look a lot smarter and healthier. When I do wear polish however, it gives an even surface to work on improving the look of the polish.
The blocks do wear down so need to be replaced every few months depending on how often you use them.
Several months ago I spotted a similar product in Bodycare for only 59p and bought it, as I didn't think it could be any different to the Ms Manicure one I was already using. Unfortunately, it seems I was completely wrong, as the quality was poor, and it did not do nearly as good a job at smoothing my nails, so I now only buy this one.
The Ms Manicure 4 way smoothing block is available from Boots at a price of £2.49
A great product to improve the appearance of your nails. Recommended.
Shapes and files, removes stains and ridges, and buffs for a smooth finish so that you can polish and shine away!
