Advantages: Cheap, looks nice, lasts well
Disadvantages: Packaging's a little flimsy
I am quite fussy when it comes to blusher and wasn't sure if I'd like this, but seeing as it's only £1.00 I decided to try it.
As this is part of the Make Up Academy range of cosmetics it's only available from Superdrug and it can be purcahsed in store or via their website.
I'd highly recommend buying it in store so that you can see the shades properly and choose the right shade for your skin tone. There are six shades available, which is a reasonable amount of choice, although they do all look quite similar. I'm naturally pale so decided on shade one, which is a light pink.
I was a little worried that it might blend into my skin and make my cheeks look flushed rather than rosey and it did, but as it's buildable I was able to build the colour up. It's not highly pigmented so a few coats is needed for noticeable colour, so it's easy to get carried away and end up looking a bit like a clown haha. It took me a few trys to find the perfect amount for my skin tone as I am really self concious when it comes to blusher so kept wiping it off when it started looking too noticeable.
The blush comes in a rectangular compact which has a hinged flip up lid. It opens easily and closes securely, meaning there's no worries that it will come open and make a mess in my make-up bag. The lid is transparent which I found incredibly handy while choosing a shade and the brand and product name are written on the front. The packaging does look and feel a little flimsy and plasticy - it's not particularly sturdy or stylish, but considering the price this is not an issue at all and I certianly will not be knocking a star off of my rating because of this.
The blush itself looks very bright and well pigmented in the compact but once on my skin it looks quite washed out, hence why it needs building up. I apply mine with my blusher brush and the product transfers onto the brush well, but not as good as my MAC blusher - I need to sweep my brush over it several times to pick up enough powder. Applying the blush is a quick and simple process and it's nice and lightweight on my skin. The blush doesn't look powdery or thick and I've never had any problems with fallout, either. It gives my cheeks a matte, subtle hint of colour and looks completely natural (as long as I don't over do it!) The lasting power is good - I'd say that it lasts for around six hours on average before starting to fade.
Overall, I can't fault this blush - it's excellent value for money and I highly recommend it! Five out of five stars.
