I never really wear anything on my lips but when I noticed that the MUA was on promotional offer recently, I decided to treat myself! I picked this up in Superdrug, you can also buy online or direct from muastore.co.uk and this was a bargain price of £1 - even better, when I brought, there was a 3 for 2 offer on
A bit similar to the mascara in the same range, the different colours are numbered from shade 1 to shade 5, I choose Shade 1 which is the translucent version, it has a subtle glitter hint to it which adds a nice sheen to my lips making them look fuller.
The lip gloss comes in a clear bottle which as the MUA logo down the side in silver lettering, to be fair, I would say this looks very similar to the gloss made my No 7, although these are a little thinner. It is an ideal size as it fits nicely in my pocket or in my handbag and isn't too bulky to carry around. Each tube holds 3ml of gloss; the lid is black and attached to this is the applicator wand which is long enough to touch the bottom of the bottle. At the end of the wand is a small sponge which is quite soft and when applying, feels quite smooth on lips. The lip gloss is slightly fragranced, a nice sugary aroma but this does disappear quite quickly.
The gloss is quite a nice consistency, thick enough to give my lips a nice coverage and the applicator picks up the right amount of gloss to apply a full coat to each lip. Unlike some other brands I have used in the past, I didn't find this too sticky. The only downside for me is it doesn't last too long, although it doesn't 'slide off' after a couple of cups of tea at work, it has almost disappeared.
I have worn the gloss on its own and over the top of a lipstick and find that it looks really nice on both, the shimmer looks really nice and not too over the top and I think this is an absolute bargain at £1!
Overall, although this does have the best staying power, I would still thoroughly recommend this lip gloss and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
I like to wear a nice lip gloss when I am going somewhere nice, just to add a bit of shine and volume to my lips. I decided to buy a MUA Lip Gloss while on a trip to Superdrug because it was cheap and it came in a nice shade.
I found that this lip gloss was quite easy to apply, you just simply screw the lid off and then paint your lips with the wand that is attached to the lip. The wand is shaped nicely so that is this lip gloss glides on easily.
I found this lip gloss was ok, the colour I bought was shade 2, which is a nice red shade, it came out quite well on my lips at the start, however faded really quickly throughout the day.
This lip gloss didn't really have good staying power when applied to bare lips. I find however that if I use it over the top of my lip stick, it stays on just fine and gives my lips a lovely shine. I also found that it gives my lips really nice volume, which makes this lip gloss very good to wear on a night out.
Price and Availability
You can buy this lip gloss in Superdrug for £1. I think that this is a reasonable price for this lip gloss because it isn't really the best quality, however if I wear it over lipstick, it does make my lips look really nice.
I think this lip gloss would be better suited to tween/teenage aged girls as it is affordable and of 'ok' quality. It isn't the best lip gloss I have bought, but I didn't really expect that as it cost me £1. Overall I would give this lipgloss 3 out of 5 stars. I probably would buy it again if I found it in a nice shade, but it definitely isn't my favourite lip gloss.

I wear lipstick more often than I wear lipgloss, but I do like the look of a clear or pale pink gloss in the summer, when I wear less make up in general. So rashly thinking we were going to get some summery weather, I decided to buy some lipgloss from Make Up Academy [MUA]. It costs only £1 for 2.8ml, so I bought 2 to try -shade number one, which is clear [but see below], and number 4 which is a mid pink.
MUA is exclusively available at Superdrug on the high street. I have tried a lot of their products over the last year or so, and I have been impressed with the vast majority of them. The standard range includes most basic types of make up and all items cost £1. There are also more expensives collections within the range, but even so they still cost only around £2-4.
I chose the lipgloss that comes within a mascara-like tube with an application wand. They also produce glosses in a squeezy tube for the same price but I wasn't tempted by those. I find that type messier to use, and less accurate when you are in a rush. I don't have the steadiest hand! There are 4 pink/light red shades available, as well as the clear one. As is usual with MUA, the shades don't have a name, and are refered to only by a number. This doesn't matter too much to me, but I do think a colour description would be helpful to those buying from Superdrug online, as the lipgloss doesn't look absolutely the same on the lips as it does on the webpage. All of the shades have a sparkly glitter element, according to their website. They also say that their product offers a high gloss finish, and that it is lightly moisturising.
When I was looking for the clear shade, I couldn't immediately see it on the shelf. I asked the shop assistant who pointed me to shade number 1. I had overlooked it because in the tube it looks pearlescent and silvery cream in colour. She assured me it would be clear when applied and she was right.
I was impressed by the packaging as it doesn't look anywhere near as cheap as you would expect given the price. The tube is thick plastic but it looks like glass from a distance. It isn't fragile either, and has stood up to be thrown around in my handbag for days on end without leaking.
The application wand is long enough to effectively reach near to the bottom of the tube, which is a godsend when the gloss is starting to run low. It isn't possible to squeeze this type of packaging after all. The handle is large enough to hold comfortably, and the applicator sponge at the end is also a sensible size. It allows you to coat your lips in a strokes which makes for quickness. It feel soft on the lips, and the tapered end helps me to apply the gloss accurately near the lip edge.
The gloss itself feels smooth when appplied, and not too sticky which is a pet hate of mine. It is lightly scented, with a sweet aroma but I can't smell it for long after application. I am happy with this as I don't like strong smelling lip products. I can't detect any taste to the product either. I like the fact it isn't too thick or gloopy as this makes it feel lighter and more natural on the lips.
My lips have a good glossy finish after using this. The glitter gives a subtle shimmer that is more obvious in bright light. I feel happy to wear the gloss both day and evening, as it isn't a high dazzle look. The clear shade worn on it's own helps me look "finished" when I am not wearing much other make up. I also wear it over lipstick to create a different look. It works well like this.
I don't think that any lipgloss lasts as long as a lipstick does, and this is no exception. If I eat or drink it is gone almost immediately. Without eating, it lasts maybe an hour or two. I am happy enough with this as the product is low priced. It doesn't dry out my lips, but I do not feel that it moisturises them either. The gloss itself does feel soft when applied though.
I have been happy that the lipgloss remains in good condition after a 8 weeks of being open. Some go sticky, or thicken, but this one has stayed at the right consistency.
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?
I think this is a high quality product, and a good value one too. It looks as good as a more expensive branded one I have used, although there are not as many colours available within the MUA range. I like the fact it is easy and smooth to apply, and the fact it doesn't feel very obvious on my lips . I don't like lipglosses that make their presence felt by their stickiness. So I would definitely recommend that you to give this product a try, and not just if you are trying to stick to a budget either.

When Christmas was coming up I was strapped for cash. I had so many presents to buy, so many things for my home Christmas related and otherwise as I hadn't long moved into my new home at the time but like a lot of women I still wanted a few bits and pieces to revamp mself up a bit for the party season. I own loads of make up but still from time to time I want new items to refresh my make up bag and face with!
Before Christmas and in my local Superdrug store MUA (Make Up Academy) products were on sale for a pound each which included mascara's, lipsticks, pressed powders, blushers well allsorts really and this lipgoss was one of the many items I bought. Sadly just after Christmas my local Superdrug store stopped stocking MUA stuff sadly however they are still available in most Superdrug stores and from wwwsuperdrug.com
There are about 5 shades in the range of lipglosses to choose from and you can buy similar shades in the squeezy tubes too if you want to for the same price. These come in one size of 2.8ml and they come in plastic see through tubes with a black twist on/off lid to the top of them and within that there is a plastic wand with a slanted sponge applicator within it then on the side of the tube we are clearly told what it is and contact details for the manufacturer are given down the other side. Its a bit of a cheap looking product to be honest but robust enough and easy to open and to use it etc.
In the tube this colour (Shade 0) looks shimmery, fairly clear with a hint of a metallic silver to it. It has a scent of vanilla to it which is pleasant and sweet and when applied to the lips it does have a nice enough hint of a taste to it as well. It isn't a greasy lipgloss this one and you can wear it naked on the lips or over existing lipstick or whatever however if you are going to use it over a lipstick you do need to be aware this will probably take some lipstick colour off and end up scummy in the tube so I dab it off the applicator and onto my finger and apply it that though you could use a lip brush if you have one handy!
This is a fairly clear gloss and adds a subtle shimmer to my lips with no bits of graty glitter in it or anything adverse like that. Once on I don't find it says put long, maybe just short of half an hour a time but because its so easy to apply and so nicely scented and makes my lips feel smooth I have to admit I don't mind regulary reapplying it.
It makes my lips feel and look smooth and the only quibble I have with this is, is that although it looks nice on it doesn't hang about for long but for a quid this is rather a good product and like I say it does look nice on my lips!
Only available from Superdrug.

Make Up Academy (MUA) is a budget make up brand offered by Superdrug.
MUA currently offer a few different types of lipgloss which vary in price. The basic lipgloss range is presented in a squeezy tube. We then have the standard lipgloss range for the same low price.
There are five shades available simply titled shade 1, shade 2 etc and the shade range includes mainly pink and red shades with a clear one as well. I own shade 1. Each lipgloss is presented in a thick, plastic tube with a screw off lid. The lid doubles up as the lipgloss wand and the applicator is a soft sponge. I like the packaging - it is secure and decent looking and not much different from the £9.00 No7 lipgloss I also own.

This lipgloss and the other MUA products can be purchased from www.superdrug.com or instore. This particular lipgloss is priced at a purse friendly £1.00. Each tube contains 2.8ml of lipgloss.
As you may be aware from previous reviews, I am a huge fan of the MUA range. The range is so cheap that everyone can afford to own a few bits of make up without breaking the bank. Whilst I have an extensive collection of expensive make up including Clinique and Lancome, I like to bulk my make up box out with some cheaper brands too. I have tried several products in this range now and my most recent purchase led me to purchase this lipgloss. I made an additional saving as the range was on a '3 for 2' deal which is even better!
I wear lipgloss daily. I hate 'naked' lips and I am not really keen on lipstick as my lips dry out very quickly and lipstick looks awful on them! I have a large collection of lipglosses and balms (possibly 50ish) so I have different options for each day! I opted for shade 1 as the more vibrant shades looked a little too strong for me as I prefer only tinted lips as opposed to full on colour. I actually wanted to buy shade 5 (clear) but at the time of purchase, they didn't have it in stock so I made do with this one.
This lipgloss is very easy to use as you would expect. The plastic tube is a good size as is the lid and I can clearly see how much lipgloss is left. The wand is long and extends far enough into the tube to allow the gloss to gather on the sponge. I have been impressed with the simple yet effective design of this lipgloss. I prefer a sponge applicator to a sloped plastic applicator (which the other MUA lipgloss has). The sponge is soft yet durable and doesn't feel harsh on my lips.
I love the scent of this lipgloss and it reminds me of sweet popcorn with a hint of vanilla. Some lipglosses don't carry a pleasant scent so this was definitely an added bonus given the price! The lipgloss slicks on effortlessly and only a small dip in with the sponge is required to coat the lips. Shade 1 appears quite silver like and shimmery in the tube. On the lips, it actually looks clear with a hint of shimmer. It isn't over the top or tacky looking but does give my lips a shiny, glistening appearance which I like.
The lipgloss sits neatly on my lips. It leaves them feeling soft and smooth with a hint of hydration. The sweet flavour is evident for a short while but loses appeal. Whilst glossy, the lipgloss doesn't leave my lips feeling heavy or sticky which is always a good thing when you live in Scotland as the windswept look is common! The shimmer and general gloss effect doesn't last long - possibly an hour if you avoid eating and drinking.
A nice, subtle shimmer lipgloss for daytime or evening use. It is super cheap and smells nice - it just doesn't last long. I wouldn't expect all day lip coverage from such a cheap gloss anyway. On the odd occasion I have worn a lipstick, this gloss looks nice over the top of the lipstick and sort of seals it in place and adds a glossy coating to the lipstick. A bargain at £1.00 and one to try out! My tube looks barely touched and I use this gloss regularly.
