Advantages: only £1
Disadvantages: handle broke, clumpy mascara and basic brush
I was in superdrug recently, initially for shower gel (which by the way I left without!) and as always got completely side tracked by all the various cosmetic brand counters and ended up treating myself to some make up treats! Money is a bit tight with me saving for christmas and my trip abroad so I bought some lovely primer (which dooyoo doesn't have here for me to review! boo!), nail polish and lipgloss and remembering my MAC mascara was probably coming up to it's sell by date I decided to go on the lower end and buy some mascara that wasn't too expensive to balance out how much I had spent on other products!
It came already wrapped in plastic which as I got home I wanted to try it out so opened it up. The mascara is quite a round chunky cylindrical shape which is black and looks a bit basic with silver lettering up the side that says "MUA MAKEUP ACADEMY MASCARA"....cheap and simple so far! I got black which says on the mascara tube that is shade no.5 but in all honesty I didn't see any other shades when browsing that aisle in superdrug.
So, excited to give it a go I twisted the lid to open it and it was broken! The lid came off in my hand but the wand stayed stuck in the tube. I guess that's the quality I should expect since I only paid a pound really! Quite disappointing and really annoying! So I have to grip the knob on the mascara and pull the wand out myself...great.
The mascara itself isn't anything fantastic, a basic swirl shaped bristle brush which to me seems really thick. Not much mascara liquid actually comes out (except on the tip) and I find I have to apply it by gliding the mascara liquid onto my lashes and then try and comb through them separately to create any type of effect. I have another spare empty mascara brush in my make up kit from another brand and thank goodness I have it as I can try and work a little bit of magic with this mascara so it actually has some use!
I read other good reviews about this mascara so overall I am quite disappointed with mine, even though I did only pay £1! Not so sure I'd recommend it to anyone else unless they are really on a budget, and I think I am going to have to hunt around now for a mascara that does the job for me.
Summary: not the best mascara but you get what you pay for I suppose!
