I first became aware of Nails Inc last christmas when i was bought a lovely gift set from my sister as a present. My gift set included several nail accessories and the A&E base coat. The set cost £25.00 and was bought from the nails inc website.
Nails inc is a luxury nail brand and can be quite expensive but since using nails inc nail varnishes and have had nothing but good results i do not mind paying the prices. A single polish can cost from £10 to £15 for a limited edition varnish.
The A&E base coat is a treatment for nails, i do suffer from chipped, dry brittle nails that are prone to chipping, cracking and splitting. I have tried several nail treatments before from avon and boots but none have worked as good as the Nails Inc A&E base coat.
The bottle is clear and made from glass, its quite a heavy bottle and comes with a round silver lid. The bottle is quite chubby in appearance but has a designer edge to it. It looks great sitting with my other Nails Inc nail varnishes on my dressing table.
It is very easy to use, i recommend washing and drying hands including nails before use just to remove any oils on nails as your nail varnish will last much longer without having to be touched up.I also file and buff my nails before using the base coat. The lid unscrews easy and has the brush attached inside the lid like a normal nail varnish. I find three strokes are enough to cover a nail and found it worked better with less on the brush means less mess that needs to be removed from your skin around the nail. It dries in about 30 seconds and feels matte to touch.
It has protein and vitamins added to the base coat, the protein makes your nails stronger and less likely to split or chip. I do notice a big difference in my nails since using the treatment, they very rarely split and look much more healthy. The vitamins add nourishment and hydrate your nails and i have found my nails feel more glossy and brighter in appearance
After applying this i usually apply a top coat of clear nails inc varnish for a casual everyday look but like to add a colourful varnish for special occasions. It looks great with a clear top coat as my nails look shiney and feel glossy too.
I do not have money to waste having children leaves me with very little to spend on myself, my days of manicures are long gone. I found this treatment to be very good and will buy another bottle when this bottle runs out. I think nails inc varnishes are top salon qualities and have noticed lots of salons using the nail varnishes now. My nails look fantastic and feel healthy once again.
I was bought a gift set for Christmas which included this, I have always liked their products and often have manicures there, so this was an ideal gift. I love to have perfectly varnished nails and I like them to be coordinating to my outfit, fussy I know. As a result of this my nails are brittle and weak from being cleansed and polished so much.
The idea of a nail treatment and basecoat in one is a fantastic idea. It comes in small but wide bottle so the lid for the brush is quite large which I find quite difficult as it blocks the view of what your actually doing although with this being clear its not too bad. It goes on very easily and dries quite quickly, you can put polish over or leave it, if you choose not put polish over it just gives your nails a nice sheen, however if you do choose to polish it makes an excellent base coat polish slides over the top of it and I have never had the problem of polish build up (where it just won't set / dry).
It does a good job at protecting your nails and makes polish easier to remove as your not scrubbing to the last bits of colour off, when I use this as a base coat my nails are always in a good condition after. You can also you it as an intensive treatment putting a layer each day on. This is really good for fixing / repairing damaged nails, or just keeping them in good condition, particularly if your hands may be in water a lot such as on holiday. For general maintenance though you don't have use it every day just 3 times or so a week.
Whenever I paint my nails, I always use a basecoat of some kind. The main reason for this is that I found quite early on in my life, that whenever I applied a nail polish it would stain my nails even after I removed it. I also found that it stopped ridges showing in the polish and helped it last a lot longer, with a much smoother, clearer finish.
I first tried this base coat when my nails were having trouble growing. I do tend to bite my nails from time to time and so when I do want to grow them, it's not always easy. This products is both a base coat and a treatment, so I thought it would be a good idea to use everyday.
I painted my nails with it everyday for about 3 days and then would remove it and start again. After doing this for a couple of weeks, I found my nails were really strong and had grow well, without so many ridges.
I now use this all the time. It is great for keeping nails moisturised and works really well as a base coat. When I use this my polish goes on and comes off a lot easier and my nails don't get stained by the polish.
You can usually get this for about £10 a bottle, although if you keep a look out, it comes up in kit's a lot with colour and other care products.
The packaging is quite nice, and it comes in a quite generous 10 ml size. The nails inc icon is cute too. However, the brush doesn't reach down to the bottom, so it is nigh on impossible to get the last bit out.
This is quite useful. I used it when I painted my nails in Victoria, the darkest red/ burgundy shade nail inc provides and the worst for staining. This provided a good base coat. The only thing is when you take thenail varnish off the deep red was prone to staining then. This never happenned when I just allowed it to chip off, but I think the problem may have been caused by the fact I was using the pretty fingers varnish remover (a container with a sponge soaked with nail varnish).
This retails in Debenhams for around £9, which is pretty pricey, but I think it is worth it overall, as it doesn't chip and has clear restorative benefits. If you don't mind waiting awhile, these go for around £2- £4 on ebay including postage.
About a year ago I went through a phase of wearing nail varnish constantly. I wasnt too knowledgeable about taking care of my nails so I didnt apply any base coats or conditioners etc. After a while my nails became very weak and dry and cracked at any available opportunity. They were breaking constantly and no amount of painting or just leaving them seemed like it could fix them. I went for a amnicure at my local fenwicks as they have a nails inc bar. I was concerned everythign would be way out of my price range but I desperately needed a way to fix my nails!
When I explained the problem to the nail technicians they explained that one of the reasons it was happening was because I hadnt applied a base coat. They explained that if I invested in a base coat I could use it hundreds of times, so although the higher initial investment, it would be worth it in the end. I was convinced they were trying to sell me stuff, so I declined, but they used it on my nails to show me what it did. Next time I took my nail varnish remover off, my nails looked so much healthier and they didnt stain either.
I checked around and bought the nails inc base coat at the cheapest place I could. I now use it everytime I paint my nails. It adds some extra time onto painting my nails, but comes with the advantage that the nail varnish stays on longer. The other advantages are that my nails are healthier, and dont look stained when I take my nail varnish off.
Worth a purchase, lasts a long time!
I got fed up of my nails breaking up and chipping away after they had grown. My prayer got answered when I came across the nails inc A & E base coat which is manufactured in the U.K. I bought mine from Superdrug for only 49p. This was actually the sale price and the base coat is normally priced at £2 or maybe more depending were you buy it from, so it was a right bargain.
The base coat is creamish in colour therefore it does blend in with my nails when applied. It comes in a thick 8ml colourless bottle and has a silver lid made of thick plastic and is all nicely packaged in a dark pink and black box.
The base coat is meant to be applied to all your nails including toe nails. Its job is to harden your nails so that they don't break easily and helps you nail polish to stick for a long time. Applying the base coat is very easy or you have to do is unscrew the lid and use the little brush attached to it. I recommend that you don't put excess because it will chip away quicker, which is wastage. One touch of the brush is enough when you see yourselves brushing away more than three times, you are just wasting the base coat.
I was really impressed by the base coat results. The base coat did not take long to dry at all and after it dried up I couldn't bend my nails. My nails stay hard for at least a week before I have to change the base coat.
Because I use my hand nails more than my toe nails I have not yet taken off the base coat off my toe nails, suggesting that it does last longer on toe nails. In three weeks I have changed the base coat twice. this is actually less times than when I put my nail polish without any base coat. However, I have realised that to make my nail polish last even longer, I top up the nail polish with base coat which stops the nail polish from scratching or dropping off. For those who like manicures this nails inc base coat can help your manicure to stay on for a long time.
The base coat can be easily removed by any nail polish remover. When I took off mine for the first time I thought it was going to take ages, but it came off instantly without trouble.
I have now been using the nails inc A & E base coat for three weeks and the results are phenomenal, my nails have not chipped away or broke since the day I started using the base coat and they seem to be growing stronger. If you don't want to put a nail polish on top of the base coat you don't really have to because this base coat does leave your nails looking shiny.
I would recommend this base coat to all the ladies or man who want their nails to be strong all the time. This base coat really does work and lasts long. The base coat only comes in a small 8ml bottle but from my estimation I would say it would take a couple of months before I can consider buying a new base coat. The base coat does have a strong choking smell but that shouldn't put you off as the smell is common in many nail products including nail polishes. Moreover your nails will not smell after the base coat has been applied.
---I bought mine from Superdrug am not sure were else you can buy it from.
---It can be used on all nails.
---The base coat is very flammable, so try keep it in room temperature or below.
---If you put a lot of the base coat it will come off quicker than when you apply less.
---If you are going to apply nail polish after the base coat its best you wait for the base coat to dry off.
