Advantages: Avoids staining.

Disadvantages: Expensive.

About a year ago I went through a phase of wearing nail varnish constantly. I wasnt too knowledgeable about taking care of my nails so I didnt apply any base coats or conditioners etc. After a while my nails became very weak and dry and cracked at any available opportunity. They were breaking constantly and no amount of painting or just leaving them seemed like it could fix them. I went for a amnicure at my local fenwicks as they have a nails inc bar. I was concerned everythign would be way out of my price range but I desperately needed a way to fix my nails!

When I explained the problem to the nail technicians they explained that one of the reasons it was happening was because I hadnt applied a base coat. They explained that if I invested in a base coat I could use it hundreds of times, so although the higher initial investment, it would be worth it in the end. I was convinced they were trying to sell me stuff, so I declined, but they used it on my nails to show me what it did. Next time I took my nail varnish remover off, my nails looked so much healthier and they didnt stain either.

I checked around and bought the nails inc base coat at the cheapest place I could. I now use it everytime I paint my nails. It adds some extra time onto painting my nails, but comes with the advantage that the nail varnish stays on longer. The other advantages are that my nails are healthier, and dont look stained when I take my nail varnish off.

Worth a purchase, lasts a long time!

Summary: Worth purchasing to keep nails in tip top condition.
