If Barbie had a favourite nail varnish then it would be Belgrave Square from Nails inc!
This is a review of the said pink polish, which I purchased exactly a year ago at the Nails Inc counter at Debenhams following a manicure which resulted in this colour. It was sold at a reduced price because I had the mini mani and the assistant recommended the purchase in case I got a chip later in the week and could mend it at home. Yes, I fell for that one hook, line and sinker!
Seize the moment!
All the Nails Inc polishes are named after interesting places in London, I really like this as it gives each colour a clear identity and celebrates our own heritage. I went for a manicure as it was my birthday, the baby was asleep in her pram and it was just an impulse moment. I rarely have them done for me as I am quite capable of doing it myself, but I am rubbish at filing nails to the same length and so it lasts me ages when I do have a mini mani.
Why Belgrave Square?
I really didn't know what colour I wanted and wasn't sure what outfit I'd be wearing on my birthday so I needed "the colour that goes with everything" and as it was my birthday we were not going to be boring and have something neutral. The Assistant (or are they beauticians?) picked out the pink sparkly colour, recommending it as a birthday colour and I couldn't help but agree. It was wild and barbiefied but matched my mood totally.
Iridescent pink and sparkly, the colour has real depth and is extremely shiny like all the Nails Inc range. Beauty Bay say: "If you're looking for a bright, hot pink that will look good on both fingers and toes, look no further than Belgrave Square from Nails Inc. A nail polish couldn't get pinker!" I think this is a really good description.
You really need two coats of this nail varnish to get the right coverage as it is still a bit see through with one coat. I always use the caviar base coat underneath and the caviar top coat over the polish to give it the most longevity. I usually get a good 3-4 days out of the colour but I have to say the one done at the counter lasted a week so although it was pricey it lasted and I had nice even nails with the file too!
In line with the rest of the range, the bottle is 10 ml and has a clear body so you can see the polish and a silver lid with the brush inside. I can always spot my Nails Inc bottles as they are all the same size and the lids are chunky unlike other polishes I own.
This bottle retails for £11 on Beauty Bay. I paid less than this as it was half price I think after the mini manicure. I still ended up spending £20+ at the time though! But it was a birthday treat and I have remembered to apply this colour again for my birthday this year.
I own a lot of Nails Inc polishes, mainly because my husband buys them in sets for birthday and Christmas presents. They are really nice to use and last a long time and all give a nice and shiny finish. With Belgrave Square there is a lot of glitter, but it is quite fine, so you don't get a totally smooth finish as you do with the flat coloured ones. I find this one lasts a good amount of time on the nails, especially when used with a base and top coat. It is a fun colour that cheers you up but I realise it would be too much for some people to wear as it is really pink and girly. I have used it a couple of times on my toes and it is a nice summer colour. The bottle is now a year old and I have used it many times yet there is still 80 % of the product left. It is still a nice consistency and will last me a long time yet. Whilst the nail varnishes is expensive, it is from my favourite range out there and I love using it.
