WHAT IS IT?
Nail polish from Nails Inc. Holland Park is a purple shade that was new for Christmas 2012.
This is a very beautiful shade but I think it looks a lot better in the bottle than it does when I have painted my nails. The bottle is very good and it is the same as all of the Nails Inc bottles with a short effective brush so that I can paint my nails quickly, the brush lets me paint each nail tidy and it gets enough of the polish on to completely colour one full nail every time I dip the brush back into the bottle. The polish is thick but it spreads easy across my nail and it dries very quickly also, you need to use 2 coats at the fewest because the polish dries quite patchy on the first one.
WHAT I THINK
I bought this because I liked the colour very much when I saw it in the bottle. I do not like it as much when I have got it on my nails because it dries to be a funny colour that does not look as good and that is a pity because I have never had that happen with Nails Inc polishes before.
I like the brush because it makes it very quick to paint my nails and I am very happy with how fast it dries because that saves me time in the morning when I paint my nails. I use a base coat with this shade because even though the purple is not dark it is quite deep so I am worried that it would stain my nails. This shade is quite hard to remove because it is stubborn even when I use a quality nail polish remover, I have to make a lot more effort than with other Nails Inc polishes to get it all off my nails.
I have worn this colour only 3 times and each time have kept it on for 2 or 3 days. It has chipped once only and that was when I had a very busy day and I was not being very careful with my nails. I did not repair the chip because by that time I knew I did not like the shade very much so I wanted to remove it.
I think Holland Park is not a very good colour because it looks dull on my nails and I did not feel very comfortable when I was wearing it because I thought that it looked wrong against any clothes and other make up that I was wearing. I just did not like it and so I have given my bottle away to my sister now because I will not wear it again.
I paid about £10 for this Holland Park nail polish from Nails Inc but I do not think it is as good as other polishes and shades from this brand and I will not buy it again.
2 Dooyoo Stars.
This is a review of the Nails Inc Nail Polish Holland Park, a special Neon shade that is new to the line and was included in a gift set I received this Christmas. I was keen to try Holland Park as the special effects polishes from Nails Inc are usually really good and I love the majority of Nails Inc products and have a huge collection of them.
Holland Park is a Neon Purple colour which looks really lovely in the bottle. As with all Nails Inc shades, the bottle is a 10ml (full size) and has a silver top and glass body so you can see the colour through it.
I was looking forward to wearing this neon shade of purple and waited until the weekend to apply it. After one coat I was really disappointed with the shade as it was really thin and watery and see through and you could really see the brush strokes on the nail. After four coats (plus top and base coat) it was just about opaque and dried to a matte finish, with a shiny top coat to counteract this and hopefully give the manicure some longevity. Thankfully it was quite quick drying so I didn't have to wait too long between layers. After a couple of days I was fed up of the colour which was an OK purple but just not one I particularly enjoyed wearing so it got removed and it did come off easily.
It's not often I dislike a product made by Nails Inc and I have to say although it's a pretty nice shade of purple, the colour on the nails is nothing like the pictured one on the bottle, it's a lot paler I think and not at all what I would consider to be neon. If i was choosing colours individually I would have never gone for this shade anyway but as I mentioned above, it was part of a set. I don't usually mind this as it's a good way of trying new colours that you wouldn't normally go for and I will always try every colour I get in a set eventually. Unfortunately after one wearing this is not a colour I will ever return for as I don't like having to build up four layers and it's not a neon shade anyway when you eventually get to an opaque finish. I don't like runny nail polish either as I end up dripping it and making a mess. I can work much better with thicker polish.
The 10ml bottles retail individually for £11 however, it is rather telling that this one is available on the Nails Inc website for just £5. Mine came in a set with six full sized polishes and a mini top coat and a file for around £35.
I really can't recommend this polish as it is far too runny and does not build easily into a nice manicure. You can see the brush strokes on the nail (which I really hate) and I just don't have the time to apply this many layers of nail polish. To do this, expecting a neon finish and not getting one is a bit of a disappointment and so I have to ask Nails Inc what they were thinking when they released this product.
Nails Inc. Holland Park Avenue Polish / Holland Park Avenue is a rich taupe nail polish.
