This is a review of Nails Inc Stripteas Cuticle remover which comes in a tube of cream. I always wonder about 'removing cuticles' as they are not something which really offend me but I suppose it's nice to have pamper products and I do love having well groomed nails. Sorry to the blokes reading this. You must be thinking 'what the hell..?' but I'm afraid it's mainly a girl thing!!!
How to use
It is really simple, just squeeze a tiny blob onto the nail bed and massage in. It sinks in straight away (virtually) and can be used best on a naked nail but it doesn't matter if you use on a painted nail. You should wash your hands in warm soapy water two minutes after to remove the product.
It really is best you avoid touching your eyes after using this product (but ok after the warm soapy water) as it can cause blindness so the back of the tube says. This is quite alarming but most products containing chemicals would advise this.
What's in it?
Aqua, cetearyl alcohol, petrolatum, PEG 20 stearate, glycerin, hydroxthylcellulose, lanolin, parfum, propylparaben and sodium hydroxide. This would put some people off having so many ingredients but it's up to you.
What the Nails Inc people say
Funnily enough they recommend after the two minute soak that you use with nails inc vitamin 3 cuticle oil pen. I do like a nice cuticle oil (they are archived in earlier reviews) and I do believe they make a difference to your nails.
A small 15ml tube retails at £10 on the nails inc website but I got mine in a set for Christmas which I imagine brought the unit price down. A little bit goes a long way so 15 ml is the right size for this sort of product. Mine has lasted this long because I was using a Nulon one prior to this.
Whilst a cuticle cream is not a totally essential piece of kit, it is something which helps to add to the overall look and quality of your nails. A well nourished base is a good foundation for an immaculate manicure and this will always be included in a proper manicure treatment at a salon or spa.
What's it like?
Really thick and greasy, goes a long way and easy to squeeze out of the nozzle opening. It smells quite neutral, a bit like a face cream but not strong and feels nice and luxurious on the nail. It's like you can feel it moisturising the nail bed. It is a bit difficult to just aim for the cuticle and I end up with it all over the nail but I don't suppose that will do me any harm (as long as I don't rub my eyes!).
I like this product but probably won't replace it when it's gone as I think it's a bit expensive on its own. But if it came in another gift I wouldn't mind using it. My nails are currently not at their best which is a shame as I would have like to turn them around for Christmas but they need some extreme TLC to get them back in shape ~ their condition is my own fault and due to extreme cutting when breakages occur ~ so I will be applying this product regularly over the next few weeks.
