This is a review of 'The Thames' a nail polish by Nails Inc. This polish is a deep grey colour and it applies with a cream glossy finish. Grey would not normally be a colour of nail varnish I'd normally buy but it came in a set at Christmas that was titled 'The Runway Collection' and this shade was stickered and highlighted as one of Nails Inc Hero shades which means it's one of their most popular colours. In use The polish applies thickly and I always apply with a base coat to protect my nails from staining with a dark colour. I think it also helps the removal process to be a bit easier. One coat gives good enough coverage but I usually apply two for the best finish with a quick drying top coat. The colour is classy and the finish is remarkably glossy with a wet look glassy feel that Nails Inc seem to achieve so much better than other brands. My thoughts As I said earlier, I would never usually go for a grey nail colour but this has totally changed my mind on the subject. I love this colour on my nails and will be using it lots. I also tried it with a glitter top coat and it looked nice this way as well. Removal of the colour was easy with no staining of the nail or cuticle. Price Nails Inc polishes are not cheap and obviously they are more expensive to buy individually at £11 each but the sets work out a little cheaper. I know they are expensive but they are my favourite make and I have only found a few that I didn't like along the way. Final word I'm glad I got this colour in a set as I used it to try it out and see what the colour looked like. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked and feel it is a forgiving shade that works on long or short nails. It also goes with most clothes, posh or casual and any colour virtually will suit this shade of nails. I probably won't use it on my toes as I prefer brighter shades for toes but will stick to fingers with this colour. I can see why it is called a hero shade and totally recommend it for other fans of Nails Inc.
This fashion season grey made quite a comeback, or so we were told. I actually like grey as an alternative to black and it works well with my skin tone and colouring so I have quite a few grey items in my wardrobe. I decided to take it one step further and try out some grey nail polish as we were also told this was the place to wear grey (well that's according to Grazia magazine!) I purchased some grey nail polish from Nails Inc after browsing their website. Now, I don't often wear coloured nail polish on my fingers, I generally keep it to my toes but I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I don't think grey is as garish as red or pink on my nails and I though it would blend in perfectly and it really did. I chose two bottles of grey and will do a review on both. The two bottles I chose were Thames and Southbank. Nails Inc was launched in London in 1999 and as such lots of its nail varnishes are named after London landmarks or areas. I like this as I think it is a cool marketing trip and a nice way to keep the brand awareness going. The bottle of Southbank is described as a cool pale grey nail polish. The bottle of Thames nail varnish is called a chic grey creme nail polish. This review will concentrate on this nail polish and then I will also review the Southbank one more closely in my other review. This had quite an elephant grey colour to me and is darker than the Southbank. The Thames nail polish was my favourite of the two as it was darker and I think it made more of a bold look. I think if you are going to nail this trend (get it, nail this trend!) you have to go dark with the grey polish and really make it stand out whilst blending in as well if that makes sense. The polish was really nice and went on well and because it was quite dark I only put on one coat, albeit a thick one. It covers up any imperfections in my nails and takes a long time to chip which I like. The bottle is just like all the other ones and in keeping with their stylish image which I really like. The bottle is quite small and round and the top that contains the brush is the same size as the bottle and not smaller like some nail varnish bottles. This actually makes holding the brush a lot easier and applying the varnish quite easy too. The top is a shiny metal colour and looks very sleek and polished. The bottle is then see through to show the colour of the nail varnish inside. It features little images of hands on the front too which is part of their logo so you know you are buying a nails inc product. Thankfully this nail varnish was not the actual colour of the Thames, a murky dirty brown colour but a nice sleek grey that I shall wear again and again even if it does go out of season! £11 per bottle from the website or in stores.
