Advantages: Famous brand

Disadvantages: Smells like pencil eraser and not much effect

Nars, founded by Francois Nars, is reputed for having famous clients/celebrities, one of those being Naomi Campbell. The makeup primer in particular has been claimed by magazines as helping to soothe and prepare the skin for a fresh and lasting finish ensuring that foundation stays put for longer. It is basically a light-weight gel-cream which is applied after moisturiser and before foundation. It contains natural botanical extracts of honey, gingko biloba, cornflower, grape, green tea, aloe vera, kiwi and jasmine. But don’t be taken in by the fact that it is a famous brand or the fancy ingredients in the formula as they are nothing but clever advertising. I bought this primer thinking that it is some sort of a miracle product, but I was disappointed. The cream smells like my pencil eraser and I don’t see any difference in whether the foundation actually stayed put for longer as they claimed. At 22.00 pounds, it is not cheap either. I could just easily put more moisturiser to adhere the foundation instead of using this fancy product. I read from "Essentials" magazine that the makeup primer by Laura Mercier (costs 23 pounds) is better. As for me, I will not buy anymore "primers" as they are nothing but gimmicks created by cosmetics companies to make you buy more of their products.

If you want your make up to stay in place try Body Shop vitamin e face mist. I bought it when i was looking for a primer and it is good for fixing make up. It goes on over make up as opposed to under. I've reveiwed it if you want to have a look x
