Advantages: Price, smooth even coverage, makes skin look matte, doesn't oxidize
Disadvantages: Runs out quickly
As a student, I can't really afford to splash out on things like pressed powder so I generally go for the cheapest I can find. In my case, this is the Natural Collection pressed powder by Boots. The product is priced at just £1.99, as are all Natural Collection makeup items (as far as I'm aware). The product is available in three shades - Warm, Neutral and Cool. I have the Cool version as I'm quite pale.
The packaging of the powder is very plain and simple, which I like. It's a normal round pot with a screw-off lid. Sometimes the lid does get jammed and it needs an extra yank to open it but it's not too bad. The container is a pearly white whith a clear lid. I like the idea of the clear lid because it means you can see the actual colour of the product. Natural Collection's logo is printed on the lid. Directions for use and the list of ingredients are printed on a sticker on the underside of the container. The packaging states that you get 10g of the product which I'd say is an average amount for a pressed powder.
I apply the product with a brush and it goes on really evenly. I apply it in the morning to set my liquid foundation and I stay matte for a few hours. It does need to be touched up throughout the day as shine does come through eventually, but this was to be expected as I've never found a powder that completely mattifies all day long. The colour suits my face and the rest of my makeup and doesn't oxidize as much as other powders I've tried. Some seem to go an orangey colour but this stays looking creamy white.
A problem I do find with this product is that I have to apply quite a lot in the morning for an even, matte coverage which means it seems to run out quicker than other powders. I have to re-purchase around every 2 months whereas other powders I have used have lasted a lot longer. But even so, it does still work out cheaper than other powders.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone on a budget as it works as well as any other branded product.
Summary: A great product at a great price. Would definitely recommend!
