Neal's Yard Eye liner
Advantages: Organic and natural
Disadvantages: Not at all pigmented
The Neal's Yard eyeliner was free with Elle magazine in March and I love testing new eyeliners so I was excited to do a bit of research into this one and put it through it to the test!
Neal's Yard Remedies is a British brand and only uses organic and natural ingredients in all its products. The company itself stock a huge range of makeup, face, body and hair products and even mother and baby products as well as men's and aromatherapy. It is all quite pricey and the eyeliner has a rrp of £9.50. You can also buy Neal;s Yard products on Amazon, Feel Unique and even ASOS, but they all carry round about the same price.
This eyeliner is one of the first to be certified by the Soil Association and contains natural mineral colours with other natural ingredients that "nourish and protect the delicate skin". This eyeliner comes in three different colours Midnight - black, Oak - a rich reddy brown colour and Slate a grey. Elle magazine was sending out the eyeliners in Midnight which was perfect for me as I am not keen on coloured eyeliners on myself.
It looks the same as a normal pencil eyeliner just with a slightly pricier looking edge to it but I wouldn't look at this and think "wow" but hey its not all about the packaging. I have used this both on my lash line and waterline and found the pencil to be quite hard and not as soft as the website makes it out to be. I really like to have very black eyeliner (and am still on the hunt for the blackest black pencil liner) and this again has failed to impress me. It isn't very well pigmented and does not define my eyes like I want. I have found that using it on my waterline it doesn't show up at all which isn't really an issue for me as I tend to only wear it on my lash line but for evenings out this wouldn't be very good for a smoky eye look. I like the fact that it is organic and natural but for me this just doesn't sell it.
For £9.50 I am really glad I didn't buy this and I am still unfortunately on the hunt for my perfect pencil liner!
Summary: Not a re-buy for me
