Advantages: quick and easy to apply, light in colour if u need that, not oily at all

Disadvantages: price

At the moment I use the neutrogena skin clearing makeup every day. I have found this a very good product indeed. It is light and oil-free. It goes on very easily, and best of all I can get it in my own skin tone. Most other foundations are a shade too dark, even the lightest they have, and I feel a little self-conscious when wearing them. Which of course is counter-productive, since you're meant to be wearing foundation to cover up uneven skin tone, not causing a problem with it!

The foundation comes in a squarish glass bottle and ingredients include chamomile and aloe vera extracts. The front of the bottle boasts "with salicylic acid"... (I assume this is from the Aloe plant extract which contains this acid). It is an aspirin-like compound which boasts anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Both of which would be good for spot prone skins.

Sometimes I put a dab of moisturiser on my face before I apply the foundation, just to give it a more natural appearance on drier parts of my face. This means I have to use concealer on my red spots though. The foundation may be light in consistency, but it isn't that great at covering red areas, spots or filling in pores etc. The lotion has a soft silky feel, and at least it doesn't ADD to the greasiness of my skin, but it doesn't SOAK up the oil either I'm afraid. After an hour or too the shininess starts to return. I wish for a foundation that trains my pores to stop producing as much oil in the first place!

It lasts through the day quite well really. Except around my chin, where I need to rub it in a little bit where it's creased, seperated, or whatever the foundation does :) You know, it looks a bit patchy, and not natural anymore.

A good base, but a bit pricey = 30ml is £7.99... gulp...
