Advantages: Helps control spots, Doesn't cake, Suitable for young skin
Disadvantages: Can feel a bit oily
I have been using Neutrogena's Skin Clearing make-up for 3 years now. Like the majority of the population I suffer with the occassional spot. Ha! Who am I trying to kid? I suffer with the inconstant occasional spot! And when Neutrogena bought out their skin clearing range I changed my home of residence into a MECCA that served the gods in their laboratories. Because for how many years had the blemish free, 'never-had-a-spot-in-my-life' clinicians and GP's been telling us NOT to plaster our face in make-up because 'it will only make it worse' Well sod 'worse' a lorry full of choccies and £1000 would not get me to school with a purple face that some-what resembled a geographic, birds-eye view of the Penines. Now there is an excuse, not to mention a solution that we can trowel all over our face knowing that it contains that vital ingredient - SALICYLIC ACID that fights those little blighters and also helps keep others at bay. It comes in 6 different shades to blend in with all skin tones and the great thing about the shades is that they range from pinky to yellow hues. Many foundations only cater for the pink skin tones and if you are like me and have a warmer yellow hue to your complexion, then they can leave you looking washed out and you can also visably see where the make-up has been applied! The foundation states that it is non-oily but it does have quite a greasy feel on your face, although don't let that put you off as it seems to sink in after a few seconds but keeps your face looking supple - nothing worse than a cakey, dry looking face! If you feel that you need something a little more mattifying, Neutrogena also make a pressed powder, which is usually essential at some point as spot prone skin has a habit of getting greasy quickly. This foundation has quite a light coverage so as to let your pores breathe but Neutrogena also make a blemish treatment cover stick t
o cover-up the ones that are not made un-noticible by the foundation. I would say that this is a perfect foundation for young skins. So all you mums out there that are having you heart torn out seeing your young daughter upset by her skin, go out and get her a bottle of Neutrogena's Skin Clearing oil free make-up. It is safe enough for sensitive skin, it is a light foundation and helps clear up breakouts, but I must stress it is not a substitute for regular cleansing, just an added control method. I haven't been able to find Neutrogena's range in Boots, but Superdrug is a good place to go and also large Tesco stores. It retails at £9.99 which may sound pricey to some, but think how much it is helping you, can you put a price on blemish free skin?!!
