Advantages: small and compact
Disadvantages: doesn't work, hasn't made much improvement
Always on the look out for good lip balms as I go through them very quickly (or lose them!) I picked up this one the other day! I have quite dry and cracked lips, especially in the winter and sometimes in the summer which is why I always carry one, sometimes two lip balms on me!
It is one of the ones in the Nivea range, they sell all different ones which I have also tried such as the Pearl and Shine, rose, strawberry, etc. I picked it up for around £1.47 in Sainsburys, which isn't expensive for lip balm, but is by no means the cheapest I have ever tried!
This is the essential one which is the one with the blue lid. It looks just the same as many other Nivea lip balms with the white twist up, twist down base. It claims to soothe and rehydrate chapped, dry, sore and cracked lips, so I thought, great, this is just what I need! It is small and compact like many other lip balms so it can fit in all size of handbags and most pockets!
The lip balm itself is uncoloured, and is just a whitey clear colour so when applied it just makes your lips look a little glossier.
Upon applying it first feels quite light ad does feel moisturising and soothing, however within a minute or two it feels quite heavy and almost sticky and thick. With otherlip balms I sometimes it feel a little tingling sensation or a sting or something to 'let me know its working', but I didn't get any of this with this lip balm.
It lasted about an hour or so before I needed to reapply it, but in windy or cooler weather, or if you have a blocked up nose and are having to breath out your mouth you may need to reapply more often.
After using for about a week I decided to take a closer look to see whether it had improved my lips. I first ofall ran my finger acrossmy lips and they felt marginally smoother and more plumper, however they didn't feel much softer and were stll very dry. As it had made a slight improvement I did carry on using for another week or so, until I found out ths after making them smoother there was no further improvement.
Although I do often using it now and then if I can't find my favourite one, I wouldn't reccomend it. I think this is better for if you already have smooth and soft lips and you just want to retain this then it might work for you, but for those of you who already have dry and chapped lips then I'd reccomend you look elsewhere.
I'd say that there are far better lip balms on the market and that it definitley wasn't value for money. I won't be buying this again, shame really as most other Nivea products are quite good!
Overall nice thing to have in your handbag as a last resort, but definitley not the best!
